  • What Year Was Kobe Bryant the Best Version of Kobe? Which Kobe Was Better? - Throughout Kobe Bryant’s career on the Los Angeles Lakers, there’s a big debate on whether number eight or number 24 Kobe is better but what about the specific year? 2003 Kobe was at his peak physically (footwork was the best I've ever seen, and his best season from long range).
2006 was individually the greatest offensive juggernaut the NBA has seen since (possibly) 80's MJ.
2007 was like a hybrid of 2006 and 2008 (still a scoring beast, but defense and decision-making was up).
2009 was his best all-around season, including defense, maturity, clutch, etc.
2013 was the most impressive given his age and how he just willed them to the playoffs, despite the injuries. When he walked to the FT line on that torn Achilles to tie the game against Golden State.... I wanted to cry at how much heart he had. Miss Kobe like crazy.

Kobe’s most unstoppable era was when the Lakers unfortunately weren’t that good, w kwame and smush etc. like 2005-2007 kobe was literally the best player I’ve ever seen. Like 9 straight 40 pt games??? 4 games in a row of 50+ (2 of them were 60). His jumper was straight money.

Sotos Kount It does have a case. He got 4 consecutive 40-point games (a record for his age). However, Kobe fell short in the OKC series and shot 43% in the season (which isn’t bad, but one of his worst).

You can clearly tell he got robbed of at least 2 MVPs which is a *media award* anyways . a lot of people say 2006 & 2007 ..but Kobe lead Lakers to #1 in west without Shaq 2008 , 2009, 2010. Imo Kobe should have won 3 in a row.
Kobe has something a little more rarer. Kobe has 4 40ppg month avgs . Only 4 players have done that. Wilt Chamberlain 11 times, Kobe Bryant 4 times, Elgin Baylor 1 time, & James Harden 1 time. Only 2 players done it multiple times. It's a *rare achievement & Kobe did it 4 times in a span of a decade . Each time he did Lakers made the playoffs* unreal .

Henry Tran Good list, but I would take Kobe in 2013 over 2012. He went to Germany for the knee procedure after the 2011-12 season and was much better in 2012-13. He had more hop in his step and was more efficient.

  • @oneman9121
    @oneman9121 6 лет назад +177

2002-2003 Kobe was the best. He was at his physical peak that season. That was also before his knee surgery that started to slow him down.
2003 was the only year we really got to see the combination that was the athleticism of young Kobe, and the jump shot/craftiness of the older Kobe. In my opinion, that Kobe was the closest thing we every got to a prime '93 Michael Jordan.
2006 Kobe was more methodical despite scoring more points. Even in his 81 point game, he didn't have a lot of exciting plays. He took A LOT of jumpers that season. You can tell he wanted to conserve energy. 2003 Kobe had an endless supply of energy.
2009-13 Kobe can't compare. It's like comparing 97-98 Jordan with 91-93 Jordan. The first three peat Jordan was unstoppable.
I just wished his 2003 body lasted longer.

Ok so finished the vid and I thought about 05-06 kobe but I don't think he was the best because his team was so ass that he could do whatever he wanted to whenever without any backlash. Any superstar will put those types of numbers up if given that type of green light imo. I think 08 09 kobe was still young enough to still be athletic but like you said, the maturity in his game really showed. He was a general out there! I was a Denver Nuggets fan and I thought we could beat them. That Denver team was really good 😭😭😭 they were outclassed something crazy! Just my 0.02 . Great video once again Caine!

I like this series a lot. It also sheds light on the true essence of dominance each of these greats had. Not just a single season, but multiple seasons so great that they literally could've earned MVP in each of those seasons. It's amazing. I would like to see a lesser talked about guy. Maybe some Isaiah Thomas (DET) type shit. Of course, it would actually be great to see one of these on Jordan. Microscopic depictions of his reign would be cool to see since I didn't get to experience it firsthand.

His best years I think were 2006 and 2003. He should have definitely won MVP those years. You have to think what he did as the number 2 guy to Shaq in 2003. His numbers were not #2 type production.

    Better number kobe
Well #24 is more of a shooter and clutch player while #8 kobe was more athletic and hit more "insane" shots.
I'm gonna let you guys choose witch one was better.

The BEST YEAR of Kobe Bryant’s career is 2005-2006 because he had 3 straight 50+ Points and he scored 81 POINTS

@@leohoutarou9980 I mean if you think he is you are entitled to that opinion and i respect it. But Kobe's best defensive years are 2001-2003 finishing top 5 in DPOY and winning 1st and 2nd team all defense. After that he slowed down from 2004-2011, showing that he was an ok defender. But often getting blown by, by quicker guards like Nash and Parker but he was still very capable in spots. In the 2008 finals he had the task of guarding Ray Allen but after not being able to close in on him, Phil Jackson smartly switched him with Ron Artest instead

2013 he played beyond his body and brought together an unhealthy and poor chemistry team, dragging them to the playoffs, and expanded his bag of tricks to play one of his most efficient years ever, mostly lacking his usual athleticism (albeit, with a few of his best all time dunks). If it wasn't for his achilles injury in game 81 they would've been a scary team in the playoffs as they were miraculously finding a rhythm as the approached the first round.
