Hello there thank you for all your informative videos 😊 it helps me a lot, I'm planning to visit Amsterdam after pandemic hopefully. But please I do hope you can have videos about how to ride a bus going to Verona Italy or what card should i use and time schedule, and where should it start as well.. I'm planning to have a side trip to Italy. Thank you so much 🙏
I'm looking forward thanks
If I want to visit from london fully vaccinated is it possible to visit?
I just stumbled upon this video while researching Amsterdam for my upcoming trip at the end of June. Such a great video - thank you! And now I see you have so many more awesome videos to watch. Really appreciate all the content!
finally no wildpissing drunk anglos
Such a pretty city! So cool. I feel like there are normally so many people out biking in Amserdam, and seeing it so local and quaint must have been so cool. Looks like it was a great walk! 😊
That's a good way to put it! It does feel quite quaint. So weird!
Thank you so much for mentioning my name in the video. Until next time.🙋♂
Thanks for your support!
Just happened across your video . I was in Amsterdam last week. Booked it on a whim a few months ago and accidentally timed jt just right. Everything just back to normal the day we arrived. Interesting seeing it so quiete though. Damrak, Warmostraat and Kalverstraat were straight away back to being jammed. Luckily I was staying in Noord which is not as crazy as Centraal on the Botel which is a docked ship.
Not sure if you caught my video guide to NDSM where you were staying, but it's definitely a nice spot to get away from the crowd in the center. It wasn't long after this video when more tourists started visiting! Good for business at least 😊 I hope your trip was just wonderful!
@@aWanderlustForLife I will definitely watch that video and I will checkout your other videos for my next trip. Thanks :)
I've been coming to Amsterdam for over 20 years to do the 4Days March. I hope to be able to do it again this year, but I am very fearful of traveling to the Netherlands with Covid even though I have had 2 shots and the boost. My wife would love Amsterdam with no people as she hates walking down Damrak with so many people in July. I understand the reason and how the Dutch can enjoy the city as it should be, but I miss it.
Thanks for the walk to all those places I really miss.
It was really only empty during lockdown, but wake up early on a weekend, and you'll get close 😉
It's really interesting to see how quiet Amsterdam looks. As much as tourism can be helpful for any city, it can be very nice to walk around a city without all the crowds. I thought this was a cool idea for a video. I've been wondering what Amsterdam has been like during the recent lockdown there. Great video!
Thank you! If you walk around at night (even just 7-8pm), you can usually get a similar feeling, especially in the Jordaan area. Generally, anywhere that isn't Rembrandtplein, Leideseplein, and the Red Light District will be fairly quiet. Just a tip for your next trip here 😁
Amsterdam has been a victim of its own popularity. Completely swamped with tourists, many in a bit of a state. TBH in many ways this looks like an improvement.
The city has been working on measures to attract the kinds of tourists who appreciate the city/culture a bit more.
@@aWanderlustForLife Good! There's plenty there, and it doesn't need to be smoked nor is it standing, looking bored on their phone , in a window.
@@tompiper9276 So true! One of my goals with my videos is to get people to see "my" Amsterdam. More videos to come ☺️
I love it…. Could it be lockdown forever please, so the tourists will stay away and we’ll be able to enjoy our city again. This is how our city should really feel, so peaceful and free and unspoiled
I think it's nice for a while, but in reality, tourism is so important. I really hope the city manages to get tourism to a point that's more sustainable where it's seen mostly as a good thing.
tourists aren't bad. bad tourists are bad
Do you advise visiting Amsterdam these days that are confined? I am thinking of going, are the hotels working normally? Do the restaurants have a schedule or are they closed? Thanks for the video.
Please check the official website for up-to-date information: www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19 I would suggest you check the Instagram/Facebook/website for any place you really want to go to see if they are open.
FFS after waiting for a few years to get to Amsterdam, before Christmas I booked for February, then later that week it went back into lockdown, then a few days later Omicron arrived and UK people have to quarantine. Fingers crossed it eases up in the next five weeks and I can still get there but if not this will be my third cancelled trip in two years to amsterdam 😟💔 I just want to walk the streets and take photos
Travel is just so tough! We have plans that we were just talking about that are set for May that we have no idea if we'll be able to go. So many are doing last minute trips because things change so fast.
Any news on when anything's going to open back up I have a trip planned in April
Things constantly change, so it's impossible to give any advice at this time. Check government.nl for updates.
When is restrictions lifted was looking to book next month
Depends on where you are coming from as far as entry restrictions go. See here for specifics on that: www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/visiting-the-netherlands-from-abroad
Current restrictions for everyone: www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19/tackling-new-coronavirus-in-the-netherlands
When it will be lifted, I don't know, but that government website with have updates.
Dutch fries are made out of real potatoes, big difference :)
You should take the time to make a tons of pictures, it is not many times you have the chance to photograph a nearly empty city.
Very good point! Weather has been so bad recently, but I'll keep a lookout to make some plans. Thanks 😊
@@aWanderlustForLife You're not made of sugar... Get out there, bleak can be good too!!
@@tompiper9276 But for pretty photos? Maybe it's worth a challenge ☺️
are coffe shops open?????
Garlic aioli on fries or gravy or salt and vinegar depending on my mood. Occasionally tomato sauce. Also sweet chilli sauce and sour cream on potato wedges
I like the variety you give yourself!
@@aWanderlustForLife chicken salt is probably the most popular in Oz but I tend to only have that if I’m ordering from a particular place where they have thick cut crinkle chips (fries)
Thank you for this video! I’m panning on arriving in Amsterdam on March 1st. Flying from USA to France, spend 3 nights there, then Amsterdam by Train. I downloaded the Re-Open EU app, but it’s confusing. Do you know if fully vaccinated tourist arriving by train from France (EU Countries) have to present a negative test before getting on/off the train? Or once you fly into any EU country, we can go by train through out the EU?
Hi Eva. This is an ever-evolving situation so I hesitate to give advice. Different countries within the EU will have different rules. You can check government.nl and ind.nl for the most up-to-date information.
@@aWanderlustForLife hi! Thank you for your prompt response! I will check your recommended sites. I found info about USA tourist arriving by plane from USA on the USA government site. Nothing about arriving on train from another EU (in my case, France). Thanks again!
It's always best to check the government website of where you are traveling to. That will always have the best information. I hope your trip goes well!
Sounds like it'll be an awesome trip Eva. Best of luck and hope the travels go well! 😊 🚊
Is your eyeglasses frame metal? Is it comfortable to wear all day in cold weather?
They are metal but the metal doesn't touch my face. The part around the ear is a different material and the nose pads keep the frame off my face
Love the tips and recommendations of more local/good places 💕🤙
I'm so glad!
I spent about 3 years working in Amsterdam. I was on secondment from British Telecom (BT) to its Dutch subsidiary that was then called Telfort. We did fixed (land lines) and mobile telecomms. Amsterdam was never that quiet then! Even coming home from shift-work there were always loads of tourists everywhere. Love your videos, brings back great memories.
Thank you! It's nice and a bit eerie at the same time.
Thanks for the tour. In these restricted times that's as close as I can get to the Netherlands for a while. Even though I lived in the country I was just a tourist every time I went to Amsterdam, but it looks better without tourists.
It's an impossible scenario, right? I wish everyone could experience this...but then there are too many people. I hope the city gets to a good balance!
There's a 3D printed bridge?! Wow! Cool!
Right?! Been in the works for so long and it's so cool!
I wonder what will be the situation like by March 2022
We can only wait and see!
If I'd live in Amsterdam, I'd go to the Hague, and to the beach :)
❤❤🎆Hello, Warm wishes on New Year to all of our wonderful and very special family and friend. ❤
❤🎉May you have a meaningful and successful year 2022 that brings you many joys and great big smiles!😊
Thanks and you as well!
Amsterdam looks a wonderful place, how about other big cities in the Netherlands. Great video Jessica keep up the good work. Do you speak the language yet.
I do need to make videos of the other cities, so I hope to do that this year 🙂 But I have a playlist with other places in the Netherlands outside of Amsterdam that you might be interested in!

When did you guys under lockdown again?
It was in December. Things have changed again so shops are open until 5pm. Government.nl will have updates
Amsterdam is always beautiful and now it is especially charming without those crowds 😍🤩🙏 Hugs from Almere 🏡 🤗
I feel lucky to see it any day...full of people or not ❤ But it being so quiet feels like a small neighborhood.
I’ve just missed you 🤗 it would have been great to collaborate 🙏🏼 cheers! I hope you still enjoyed AMS 😁
I'm usually here (I live here), so maybe next time!
@@aWanderlustForLife aah cool! You’ve just popped up in the commendations. Let’s keep in touch 😄 “groetjes 😋”
Is it locked down right now?
Nope
If the herring stands are open, I hope the great beer places for locals are still open...I won't mention the ones we like..they're really good though with great snacks with your great beer. I miss them; maybe next year. I'm sure you know to always check the weather radar forecast before going out without an umbrella.
I did check! It was supposed to be sunny until the evening 😕 You can check the rules for specifics, but restaurants and such are on a take away only basis which would be the same for the herring stand.
@@aWanderlustForLife Probably snuck under the radar...Thanks for your kind reply! I can tell you love Amsterdam very much; me too. Bittterballen, poffritjes, patat, herring and beer..not necessarily in that order..will return soon I hope. Keep up the great work!
Rip my travel plans
Yeah, I understand that feeling
Great vlog. I visited Amsterdam approx 5 years ago. Lovely to see it again. Thank you :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Have you seen my playlist for Amsterdam? You might find some other videos you like as well including neighborhoods to visit next time 😁 ruclips.net/p/PLrNbogOIGSGh-qqsXbu8-4ugitELtwIHQ
Go do the city of Groningen, and the city of Zwolle, Deventer, and Kampen one day.. As soon as we are back in business :) Lovely old cities, older than Amsterdam, and safer too... and more civilized even...You'll love them..
Been to Groningen but it rained the whole time 😭 But there is still so much more exploring in the Netherlands that I need to do!
Where is the red light?
Cannot wait to visit Amsterdam
i want to visit amsterdam so badly :( until when the lockdown?
Check government.nl for updates. There will be one Friday night.
If all the covid stuff is over then ur more then welcome here!
You trotted around quite a bit. I could follow the route you took with a little local knowledge of Amsterdam.
Love the city, and love the Amsterdam people. Although I do not live in Amsterdam, I do work there and when things are normal, I love to spent the evening in Amsterdam. Eat out, walk around and have a drink in one of the many bars. Most local are the bars at the streetcorner in the Jordaan. Nice atmosphere, many locals and when you are lucky someone is singing.
I love your videos, always cheerful, so keep them coming.
Erik
Thanks, Erik! Evenings in Amsterdam are the most amazing...especially is summer, right? 😁 I really enjoy some of the bars in de Pijp as well
Netherlands is very weird. Look Belgium Germany you can shop the most are open
Yes, we know about our neighbors and some people go for the day.
God bless you...🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Amsterdam ziet er zoveel beter uit zo, tourisme en expats hebben de stad zo verengelst, ziet er veel relaxter uit zo en voel oprecht alsof je in Nederland bent in plaats van een op elkaar gehoopt stukje internationale troep.
You can't discount the money that tourism brings in, though. And the many businesses that thrive because of visitors.
@@aWanderlustForLife a lot of locals don't profit from it though, a lot of houses are being bought up by rich people for air b&b for tourists making housing unfordable, most jobs in downtown (restaurants etc.) are given to expats, it depends on what you see as money bringers🤷♂️
Thank you for something different - I love the quiet look
Thank you!
wow thank ypu so much becoz you show us the view of armsterdam..a few people becoz of spreading of virus.keepsafe always Dear host mwah mwah..new friend from the philipines
Thank you!
i go supermarket racing in my chair💪💪💪💪👍
I love Amsterdam
Same!
Thank you…. I’m from Qatar
I will be there in a few days, I'm so pump to discover the city like this, obviously I will prefer it with no lockdown. But I think that Amsterdam have a lot to offer even in this situation.
If you really want to enjoy the architecture and the more widely views, this is a great time. I really enjoy the quiet of the city because you can really take your time wandering around and/or standing still to have a proper look without bothering people. This is a wonderful time to take up photography as this city begs to be frozen in time!
Please consider doing takeaway while here to help the local businesses! If you want, DM me on Instagram @awanderlustforlife and I can give you some suggestions depending on where you'll be.
You're awesome! Thanks for your vlog!

Everyone is on a lockdown except for travel vloggers.
I live here. And it's not a lockdown where you have to stay inside. Just one where shops and restaurants are closed. But thanks for your comment.
Nice 😍

I would've worn my raincoat if I thought it was going to rain at all. But the forecast was clear until the evening 😞

my most daerest area
Though a slight exaggeration, here's what the city will look like when cannabis is outlawed and prostitution moved to the fringes of the city. So much for tolerance.
I disagree. In 2019, we had 19 million visitors in a year. If you take out the tourism that was only interested in those things, I think we'd still have a sizable about of visitors that want to see the beauty of the city, its museums and such.
Tourism,: a double edge sword. I'm from Florida and everyone wants to come. 😑 When I visited Norway many years ago when I told to Norwegians where I was from they went oh Disney World. I went oh no there's so much more in Disney World or the beaches! 🙄😁 The truth is the place can survive quite well without tourism. It's just the price people want to pay for a higher standard of living because there's an income in it but there's a price too you lose a lot of freedoms as natives!
At least people know your state 😂
Amsterdam's economy would change drastically without tourism and would never happen. But they are trying some tactics to scale it back a bit so locals AND visitors can have a better time.
@@aWanderlustForLife Florida would not be the same if Tourism was cut out. It's not going to happen. Lol. I was born there along time ago and there was tourism but not to the degree of today. I miss it.

Should have much more actual content regarding the subject and much less irrelevant personal opinions.. needs a script writer, and serious research.. seems very shallow and not really thought about..
It's a vlog, not a scripted video. I do some of those but not in this one.
She had a poll asking about content of her next video (this one) and the subscribers voted. Your comments are just plain rude.
