The "save the dream" line had me shed manly tears. I felt the stakes in the trailer alone.

Bruce Wayne yea it's the first Star Wars movie that has stakes. Disney know what they are doing because this is the type of stars wars I was looking forward too without Jedis. I always wanted to know how it felt and looked for people who weren't involved in the Jedi storyline.
Hector summed it up well when he said "these are just regular-ass people running around." He's right. They aren't semi-superhuman like most most heroes. These folks are US. That's why you can really feel this trailer.
Thomas Le and fazdoll - you both nailed it! This movie reminded us all it is Star WARS. No effing Ewoks or Jar Jar here - this is WAR where people have to be courageous and selfless and guess what, not everyone lives in War.....

If you like the Cinematography definitely check out "Killing them Softly" and/or "Foxcatcher" really anything by Greig Fraser.
The music is on point too. I really feel like Michael Giacchino has the potential to be this generations John Williams.

If Jyn's father had a hand in building the Death Star (probably the laser weapons since we know the superstructure is already being built in Episode 3), maybe thats why there is the glaring flaw of an unshielded exhaust port for them to torpedo. "Imma just leave this exhaust port right here for....ya know. venting things."

That moment when Hector got all emotional when he saw Riz Ahmed's facial reactions at around 3.00 is the exact same thing I was feeling, you can just tell that his/many of their last final moments just from that. I could be wrong but that's how it seems.
Josh Blanksby Yeah I had the same reaction. All along I've thought that Disney probably wouldn't have the stones to make a movie as dark as this one SHOULD be, but I'm starting to sense that they might really have them all die by the end of this movie.
Travesty9090 I think within Disney terms it'll be relatively dark, and the main characters deaths will be more heroic than sad. So I think that's how they'll handle it. I mean after all they did Kill Han Solo.
I agree we will see heroic deaths, sacrificing themselves so the mission can move forward, all toward the goal of putting Jyn and the plans somewhere they can do good.

Neil Krystian Zagada Yeah, but the pirates movies have a very fun and light-hearted tone overall. The whole cast of this movie dying at the end would be quite a bit darker than anything Disney has recently put out I think.
Donnie yen's nod when jyn says rebellions are built on hope made me feel some things.
I can't express how much I love watching you guys react to anything Star Wars related, makes me even more stoked for the actual movie.

The "I'm going to die" moment from the character who states Rogue One is my favorite part of the trailer. Nobody else seemed to absorb it the way I did, 'til I saw this reaction :D
Yeah I feel he is going to die in a badass way taking as many troopers with him as possible.
Yeah - I think this is one of the few moments that I've seen fear, and despair in a Star Wars film (the other one was Empire - which is also one of my favorites). The guy's probably seeing his life flashing before his eyes, and thinking, "Shit - what did I get myself into?!?!"
KillerSalmon Similar moments occur in Lord of the Rings, which is one of the many reasons why it's such a great trilogy of films.
Mad Max Fury Road was finally getting a spectacle up to that LOTR area of quality, maybe Rogue One will as well?... Hopefully. One can hope. Hopeeeeeeee is a key word for its theme. HOPE!

Battlefront Productions better than the force awakens. this movie feels like a war drama. "Saving Private Ryan meets Fury". most of the characters has real motivations and the setting feels longing for some revolutionary theme. this prequel is paying homage to the original trilogy but on a more mature stake. thumbs up for this reaction guys, bye jedi fellows.

That being said, The Force Awakens wasn't that great in the first place. It borrowed too much from the original trilogy. Let's hope this movie doesn't make the same mistake.
....and now that R1 has made $1B+ (definitely earned).....coming from a dyed-in-the-wool Original Trilogy FANATIC who never thought Ep IV would ever be approached.....R1 SURPASSED! Best SW movie of them all!!!!

Those are may favorite because they all deal with hope. I feel like that's what all star wars is about is hope, but to see it coming from these people who are certainly going die just tears me apart in a good way. This is just one of the many reasons rogue one could be the best star wars movie to date is its opening up to more people and has a real message that inspires people. I really hope that this movie gets all the money it deserves cause we need more movies like this one!

I'm with you Hector, I think we were in there with Bodhi Rook in the final moments before his sacrifice. I could see it in his face and my throat just got all lumpy in the midst of all the chaos we saw in this trailer. Love your reactions -- so visceral and real and intelligently analyzed afterwards.

I understand what you mean by the lump in the throat. The bit that got me was Donnie Yen, hitting the ground with him cain, like he is saying "dam straight". It's a good trailer cut after the hope line, but I suspect it comes right after Jinn, says "may the force be with us."
This looks so good! To see Vader walking through that smoke with some pep in his step is just awesome. Can't believe he's back.

What's funny is that these guys are too young to remember when Star Wars came out in 1978. I was 11 years old when I saw it for the first time back then, and like millions of others, I grew up with it. So now, seeing these new movies based in the Star Wars universe... for me, this is like living that excitement of my childhood all over again.

How badass and heartbreaking would it be if in the final moments Jyn confronts Darth Vader, and the rest of her rebel comrades escape with the the plans, looking back, seeing the red lightsaber turn on as the door closes behind Jyn.

The trailer was great! Hey Adam, don't let anybody give you shit about being emotional. I cry at each new trailer, too. Star Wars is a huge part of my life, being my first memory at three years old watching A New Hope in '77, going to every opening day for each movie and passing on my love for Star Wars to my sons. Rogue One looks killer! Can't wait.

you guys are the only ones who talk about the death of these characters. everyone else is so hyped on Vader that they missed these small moments like the one hector pointed out in the trailer. this story is about the band of rebels who are willing to lay down their life for the cause and judging from the trailer the movie is also going to be a visual spectacle. once again guys, keep the good reactions coming.

Hopefully Giachinno's score will have more of the historic SW themes. I loved the threading of those through the 1st Rogue One trailer, but the score has been recreated after the 1st guy had to bail.

Idle speculation: Jyn and Cassian survive, (I suspect the TIE we see rise up in the earlier trailer as Jyn limps toward it is actually Cassian, having stolen it) deliver the plans to Princess Leia (I hope we see something of her), and then disappear. Perhaps Cassian goes back to being "just another officer" in the Rebellion.
Everyone else dies, one way or another.

I'm not sure if anyone has realized this, but there is a chance we get to see a small hint of Leia at the end of this film. We know the information gets passed to her at some point to be taken back to the Rebels, just not exactly when or by who. If anyone survives the final conflict, they could interact with Leia in the pre-scenes of Episode IV.
CGI? Just a silhouette? Perhaps just a shot of her ship docking with Rogue One.

Two things i'd like to see... Cheesy..hokey...say what you will... But when the plans are handed over, i want which ever character that does it to mention what Jyn said 'We have hope..Rebellions are built on hope....' and then add ...'this give us a new hope.' Obviously a nod to the title Ep4. ALSO, i want, at some point at the end...a sort of jump forward to the medal giving scene at end of Ep4...but seen from off to the side in the back....perhaps two of the team that made it out have a silent moment, a shared look, in remembrance of the Rogue One team that made this possible...but got none of the glory.

I thought of something about the story and what it could be about. We now know that Jyn Erso Father is part of building the death star. When I had friends watching A New Hope, everyone that I know, always asked, why did they build a part of the ship that could destroy the ship, what if Jyn Erso Father built it, so that the rebellion can destroy the ship and he is the one that makes the blueprints for them to know how to destroy the ship. What do you guys think about this theory?
