Dear Miss RPM, I am 74 year old male living in the UK and I attend two ballet classes not very good I should add. So from way over there what videos do you have for male dancers. I enjoy what I try to do but, I would like to do better even at my advancing years, So if you have any male dancers that could demonstrate from the basics then please tell me about then. I would just like to add the from my English point of view your diction is very pleasing. Yours sincerelyBernard Bibby Kent UK
Thank you, Bernard. In the future I will feature men as well however the concepts that I cover in my videos can be applied universally. In the meantime.... keep dancing
I’m 14 and did ballet when I was little but stopped a while back but have since done gymnastics for a few years and age become very flexible- is it too late to start ballet as my dream has always to be on pointe!! Ps thank you for the video 🤗
Thank you. It's not too late to go back to ballet and to go on pointe. However it is of the utmost importance that a) you have your alignment and posture correct and b) that you are doing the curriculum (dancing)correctly on flat first. Don't rush to go en pointe - you don't want to injure yourself.
Its not too late!! I went back v recently, I did ballet and gymnastics when I was younger and I just went for it, I started at 13 and now a year later I'm on pointe, honestly you should try !
Nayana Mould it’s actually not late at all! I take ballet classes regularly and one of the best dancer in my class just started this year. She did gymnastics before so it’s really helpful control and flexibility wise.
Think of a ballet combination as a paragraph and each 8 count phrase as a sentence. Try remembering the steps in the 8 count then add another 8 count and so on. It becomes much more digestible that way. Also many times but not always, the steps at barre are done en croix (in the shape of a cross) in other words - front, side, back, side (and also the reverse which is back, side, front, side). For example; 2 tendu en croix would be 2 tendu front, then 2 side, then 2 back, then 2 side again. So it would help to remember those tendu as a set. Don't be discouraged. It takes time. Remember you are exercising your brain too.
I would like to start ballet but my mom worries it isn't how I think it will be also how well do you think i could do since ive been doing gymnastics since i was little any suggestions?
You have a head start if you have been in gymnastics for a long time but ballet is different in many ways. Like anything that is physical and an art form, it takes time for the steps and movement to become muscle memory. So if you have the desire AND patience to work at it and understand that it won't happen overnight I would say go for it!
That shoulder trick helped me so much like literally it was such a fixer for everything
The left shoulder trick really helped

This applies for both right and left turns?
Absolutely this keeps your center of Balance aligned !! Just like when you pull a string on a top to spin , your focus and head create the whip !!
Love 😍
Thank you
