I am not a guitarist, I'm 'only' a drummer who just loves this Rolling Stones track, and most especially - the brilliant raw and unpolished guitar solo on the original Stones recording. Can I just compliment you Bruce, only to say that you have captured the essence of Keith Richard's inspirational solo, perfectly.
Great work Bruce!, enjoy the music folks, dont try to copy the artist, hes helping us with the core notes, so just catch em , and enjoy your interpretation
Good job, but on the "Tami Show" performance (on YT) you can see Brian Jones playing the C and D bar chords at the 8th and 10th fret- not just at the nut.
I like the Fender strap on a Gibson (Epiphone) Les Paul. Thanks for the lesson. Didn't know it was that easy. Of course I'll be playing that on my Ibanez. I think I need to get a reverb pedal for my Crate power block 150 amp.
Brian Jones said in an interview at the time that he loved the 12-string rhythm guitar on this because it 'chimed like a piano'. I can't recall if he said who was playing it though - him or Keith.
Yeah I think Keith did the Skronky tone Power chording stuff, as well as the Chuck Berry Lead riffing. LOVE the early Stones. The Brian JONES band guys, notice he was always the guy out front in Photos. to bad Drugs really did him in, died way to young.
@@ksharpe10 Yes, the early Stones music is hard to beat. From what I understand, Brian could play just about any instrument, and had great musical ideas.
Not sure I buy this. Keith Richards and Brian Jones were much better guitar players in 1964 than Pete was. He was even quoted as being in awe of Keith, Brian and Dave Davies of the Kinks in one of the books I read.
Man I was hoping you were playing through that little white vox ac4tv. I see it in the background of many of your videos. I've been thinking about buying one. The amp you are using sounds good. My Vox AC10C1 is too loud for me. I can't justify playing it in this little apartment and so I've been thinking of trading mine in for that vox. Recently, I often favor my modelling Vox vt20+ (cause it's quieter) which i've had for years and scoffed at but after finally buying a real amp, it has grown on me. It actually sounds really good on clean. Downgrading to a smaller tube amp just worries me. I don't know if it sounds the same as my AC10. I also noticed a Vox Valvetronix amp in the background in some of the videos. Was that what you normally use in your videos?
Try the Vox AC4C1, it has a great rock and roll sound. It's not really that much quieter though! Kind of the nature of tube amps, they need to be cranked to sound good.
thanks. I considered the ac4c1 one but I don't really think there is much of a difference for quietness or loudness between the ac4c1 and my ac10c1. The ac4TV has that power attenuator built in. You can turn the power level from 4 watts to 1 watt to 1/4 watt for really quiet bedroom playing yet it is still very bedroom loud.
That's true. That attenuator is helpful. The TV has more clean headroom as well. The thing I would change immediately with those amps is the speaker. The VX10 is one thin, el cheapo speaker. Celestion Vintage 10 is much better.
yes, I do want to change the speaker. I was thinking along the lines of a greenback. I just checked on celestion's website. The frequency response for the vintage 10 and the greenback look almost identical. You are right, the vx10 is a 20 dollar speaker.... I didn't realize that. The G10 vintage is $125 and the greenback is $150. That puts things in perspective.

@@briantaylor2.023 Brian Taylor: It's quite obvious. She's referring to the original question, above, by Joe Gagliardi who asked, "Any chance for a tutorial on BRIAN'S part?" You replied, "been trying to find one myself". So, since your name is Brian, she wrote, "Given you name [Brian], no matter what you do it's going to be the correct 'Brian's part'". See now?
This is wrong. There are no arpeggios in this song as a second guitar. All of the videos on youtube show Brian Jones playing barre chords at the 8th and 9th fret. When Keith is playing a conventional G, Brian is playing a barred G behind Keith. If you watch Brian's G, you'll see that he lifts his pinky finger off and on to get a background bass feel. Please go back and get this right.

Just want to say thanks for all the work it takes to bring these classic rolling stone lessons, rather we are 6 or 60. thanks

The people from Gibson called and asked that you do something about that guitar strap. : D Good lesson.
Great lesson! I remember struggling my way through that tune, as a teen back in the 60's. A classic tune, played on target. Thank You.
I've got my 69th Birthday coming up in April Bruce I'll be knocking this one out on the day mate. Thanks.
Fabulous lesson - that solo always eluded me - really appreciate it
I don't play but enjoy your lessons as I have grown up with these songs. Similar to hearing them under a microscope.
Thank you
Thanks again Bruce. Another fine lesson. You never fail to inspire!

Very clear. Loved it. I was trying to put too much into the lead, and you showed that it is soooo simple. Thanks!
Love the cutaway shots of the right hand too....
Well done! One of my favorite Stones songs and you made it easy (well, easier) to play.

Brian Jones likely doing the arpeggios in this song, as well as "The Last Time". Old post, I know. Thanx Bruce, enjoy your videos.

Brian did the "clunky" rhythm on a 12 string. Keith played the arpeggios and of course the solo.
It's a miracle, that a Fender strap fits to a Gibson ;-)
