Also, the clippers you used (Andis) are quite expensive, am I able to use mens Wahl clippers to clip my Cockapoo and lastly, how often do you clip Chloe

    Thanks for the video. Saving my money ! Learned a lot ! ❤
    I am wondering, I've seen many videos that the groomer pluck out the inside ears hair, I just got a dog, 2 weeks ago, had already ear infection and the vet recommended me to bring her to them to cut the hair from ears. I see, you don't do that. It is any extra separat grooming that you do periodically to yours beauty ears?

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you!! Dogs with long downward ears are more prone to ear infections. I don't pluck Chloe's ear hair because I'm scared of hurting her, they say it doesn't hurt them but I prefer to leave that to the professionals. I just make sure to keep her ears clean, dry, and cut, I use a burts bees ear-cleaning solution that seems to work well. I'd also follow the vet's steps for treating and maintaining your dog's ear health.

    As a professional groomer, she should have a groomers helper attached to a clamp grooming arm. It’s just so she doesn’t step off the table, she doesn’t move while you use scissors and also in case she jerks so you don’t catch her skin, too! Great job with her groom!

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  Год назад

      Yes, I wanted to get a grooming table with the arm for extra safety but I make sure to watch her diligently and never leave her up there. Luckily she doesn’t try to walk off and is a calm dog.

    This is great, would you kindly share how you got her used to you having scissors around her? My pup squirms...

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  3 года назад

      Chloe used to squirm a lot too! She still does sometimes. The best way I got her used to it was by putting the scissors near her ears, I’d trim the air so she could hear what sound it makes and not get freaked out. I’d also let her sniff them beforehand because they’re very curious when they see new things, I’d run them along her body without cutting, just so she could see it doesn’t hurt and it’s not scary but always make sure to speak to them nicely and reassure that it will be ok and then chase with some treats after you notice good behavior.

    • @everythingelizabethx3
      @everythingelizabethx3  3 года назад +4

      Thank you! Chloe was a little scared at first because it must be strange to hear and feel the clippers and not know what they are but she slowly adjusted. Sometimes she still resists, so I let her have a break or I’ll give her treats. When Chloe was a puppy I also used to tire her out with long walks or some time at the dog park so by the time I washed and dried her she’d be pretty tired and just let me clip her without resisting.

      The clippers I use in the video are in the description, they’re about $60 on Amazon but I’ve also upgraded now because the Andis clippers I used here suddenly died on me, they were good while they lasted and good for learning, so you could try them out. I’m now using the Wahl Professional Animal Chromado, they’re about $100 more but I think they’re worth it because the quality is better and they’re wireless. I’m going to do an updated video with these clippers soon.

      Aww thank you so much! and congrats on the new puppies! Chloe has definitely calmed down a bit since I started grooming her but I guess it's just because she's gotten used to it. I do recommend to get a portable/foldable grooming table if you can because it has the arm to help hold you puppies in place. They sell them on amazon for about $60+ depending how much you want to spend, the only reason I don't have one is because I live in a tiny NYC apt and Chloe happened to be small enough to fit on my tv dinner table lol. Good luck with grooming and remember it takes practice and patience!

I may be bloke my little dog is everything to me and I do love the fact that she should be treated just like any other child and she does get spoiled and that’s why I wanted to do it myself it’s just me and her I’m not brave enough to record it but I might actually be tempted to send it directly to you before and after pictures God forbid if I completely make a hash of it anyway it was fantastic and thank you very much from the UK James

      Hi James! I’m sorry for the delayed reply, I hope you’ve gained the confidence to go ahead and groom your Cockapoo. Grooming at home takes time and patience both from you and your dog, the first few times won’t be perfect but eventually you’ll see what you did wrong and how you’ll fix it next time. Just remember to keep going until you’ve got the hang of it and always be careful and gentle but If you feel you did a wacky job you can always throw a sweater on your dog until it grows for the next time😅

      I’m flattered but no I don’t have any clients, I just enjoy grooming my dog but if you still take your dog to the groomers don’t be shy to let them know what and how exactly you’d want your dog to look like. I started grooming my dog because I never loved her groomer cuts and when I tried to explain how I wanted they’d say things like “that’s not how we normally cut them” as if there’s only one haircut per breed.
