Review of Samyang AF 85mm f1.4 (Canon EF)

- In this video I'll share my thoughts on the Samyang AF 85mm f1.4 Canon EF version. This lens is designed for DSLR bodies but I'll mount it on my Canon EOS R and will feel no constraints whatsoever.
No review is complete without comparisons. So I will compare the Samyang AF 85mm f1.4 EF to the Canon EF 85mm 1.8 USM and the Canon EF 85mm f1.4L IS.
In general the lens is quite nice. I don't have any major complaints concerning its optical qualities. The biggest problem is the competition. You have too many other seductive options in the realm of 85mm Canon portrait lenses. Watch this review for a more detailed look.

Good day can you help me for this when i put the Samyang 85mm 1.4.EF to my Canon 6D it show the error need to update firmware.. and after i updated it.. it shows again and sometime connection to the camera and lens.. can you help me for this thank you
i know that canon EF lenses fit on APS-C cameras but will this samyang also fit on a crop sensor camera? thanks for the review

Hello Oleg! Nice to see your english versions too. You do it awesome so keep going. As a beginner I'm interested to understand the chances of lenses to be further reselled after some extensive tests. I hope it's pretty OK on the very beginning. I'm thinking of buying Samyang 85 but then I hope to resell these lenses later. How do you estimate their reselling potential? Are these lenses popular on both Ukrainian and international markets so that I could succeed in selling them?
Oleg i got a cannon m50 camera and using Ommlie adapter for Samyang 85mm 1.4 ef cannon lens and am not able to take a picture but the lens shows on the screen. How do you make it take a picture? I know the auto focus wont work on it because it dosent reconize it.
Good conclusion, honest. But between Canon 1.8 and Samyang, the difference might not be in bokeh but the Canon has lots of purple fringing which Samyang might not have. Also wide open Canon is soft and Samyang not so.

I believe you can, since they're the same mount. Not sure though!

yes, you can. but you'll need canon ef-m to ef adapter.
I just got this lens, for my eso r, with my viltrox adapter... the auto focus isn't working any idea on why or what needs to be done?

I have a Nikon camera, and the Nikon version of this lens appears to be pretty much identical to the EF version. All sales sites I've seen simply market the Samyang 85mm F1.4 AF lenses as 'the same but with a different mount', yeah no! I only recently found out there's a difference at all, and nearly all reviews I've found are for the RF or FE versions, not useful for me :s
This is actually only the third review I've found for one of the other versions.
I think we all need a review of one of sony cameras, i heard you think they are great 🌝

In 2023, given the time of high megapixel war, would the old Canon 1.2 justify the kost ? With RF line of cameras I think Samyang 1.4 would be a good value for the money.
It depends on your need for pixel-peeping. For me it's totally fine. But there are people who can't live without maximum corner sharpness wide open.

I decided to purchase this Samyang 85mm EF for my Canon R5. Canon put a stop on Samyang to produce RF version of this lens. I hated Canon for this.
Hi.. may I know how's this lens paired with R5? Is it any good? How's the image quality? As I am thinking to purchase also to pair with my R6.
@@widiartoproboprasetyo9330 I took some photos at an air show in California. It worked great. Far affordable than getting the Sigma 85mm. I also got the Samyang 14mm. Some how Samyang is right up there with Canon & Sigma lenses.

Ну это примерно мой уровень английского относительно уровня произношения...) Я понял, чтоб это перебороть нужно больше практиковаться и как-то более уверенно произносить слова, без "жевания" слов. Возможно нужно текст потренироваться и несколько раз его проработать, а так не слишком выразительно получается. Но проба пера состоялась.
давайте по теме обзора, а не по теме английского)

Единственный способ довести беглую речь и произношение до ума - больше говорить. Записывать видео - это не самый плохой способ.
The absense of Samyang lenses in profiles of both camera and Laghtroom seems to be a serious disadvantage.
