So with Deadpool and Wolverine on the way and the rumors mill cooking, the grapevine says we might see Jennifer Garners ELEKTRA in the movie so here we are with ELEKTRA from 2005! Assassin-for-hire Elektra (Jennifer Garner) works for a mysterious international organization known as the Hand, for which she kills her targets without question, and in a conspicuous red bustier, no less. When the Hand asks her to kill Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic) and his daughter, Abby (Kirsten Prout), while they're on holiday, Elektra's conscience kicks in and she decides to protect her targets rather than eliminate them. Of course, the Hand isn't so willing to let them off the hook.

I remember watching this film a few months ago, and even though I watched from beginning to end, I didn't understand what was going on. The villains felt like nothing, and the only ones I was remotely interested in were Shang Tsung and Kirigi(?), but Elektra's red corset with the sais is chef's kiss.

I loved that y'all gave this movie a chance because while it's not an 'amazing' movie by any stretch it's nowhere near as bad as a lot of people made it out to be, and bad word of mouth at the time of its release really affected this movie's reception. It's main problem IMHO was trying to 'soften' Elektra up by giving her a kid to look after, which was easily the weakest part of the film. If it had just stuck with being an assassin having a psychological crisis and facing her (literal) childhood demons and trauma to reclaim her life, it would have been a lot darker and more compelling. Jennifer Garner easily carried this movie, though the villains were fun and the action scenes were surprisingly good. I loved the character as a kid and saw this in theaters a couple of times and it still holds a place in my heart despite its flaws, so seeing her back as Elektra in "Deadpool & Wolverine" really got me.
A couple of fun facts for you guys: the entire opening sequence of DeMarco's assassination was actually adapted extremely closely from a five issue Elektra run called "Relentless", including her decision to let Bauer the security chief go because he surrendered. The idea of Elektra being forced to not work and be tormented by her thoughts while waiting for a job was inspired by the Elektra run "Introspect", and her journey to become less of a villain was from "Everything Old Is New Again", all largely taken from her time in the early 2000s "Marvel Knights" series which were darker, more adult stories about solo characters like Elektra and Moon Knight. Abby is a real character from Elektra's first main solo comic run, though she's very very different (and better) in the comics than the movie and ends up being a villain. Stick's forces are called The Chaste, and The Hand are their sworn enemies. Stick trained Daredevil in the comics.
As for the other villains, I wish they'd gotten more explanation in the movie because they're all really cool in their own rights and originally had scenes written for them explaining their origin for the movie, though they are very different from their comic book versions. Stone has magical properties that make him like living marble, so not completely invulnerable (hence why a massive effing tree dropping on his head shattered him). Tattoo has black magic tattoos that come to life and are in his control, which he can only ink on himself after ritually slaughtering the animal and absorbing its properties. Kinkou is supernaturally agile and can balance on anything. Kirigi was one of The Hand's deadliest assassins, and in the comics Roshi is not his father; Roshi was just the title given to the leader of The Hand in New York City. Kirigi was contracted to kill Daredevil and Elektra, who had her own issues with The Hand, decided to protect Matt by taking out Kirigi. Typhoid, who causes sickness, decay, and rot, was meant to be a version of Typhoid Mary, a complicated Daredevil villain with multiple personality disorder who has some good personalities and some very bad.

I don't care what nobody say when I was a kid I wanted to go see this I thought it was unique it's always those wannabe movie critics that just won't give a movie a chance everybody acting like this movie was extremely bad everybody got their opinions but you really got to pay full attention to the story sometimes you have to take your brain out of the movie and just go along with the ride and enjoy it it had its flaws but I really loved it

By the way that was the guy you were talking about at the beginning who played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 1995! His name is Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa! He'll be joining in my own upcoming film I'll be directing called Shadow the Hedgehog Rise of Team Dark playing as one of Shadow's family bodyguards as a humanoid gorilla named Valentino Mavado!👍

I keep liking this movie, every time I see it. Sure, it's not perfect. There's a couple of points in it that are stinkers, but for me the vast majority of it is very good. It would have been great if we could have had more street level hero movies like this, instead of always going for the more powerful characters that require the expensive and often hokey FX.

I love this movie and will forever regret going to see Constrantine instead of it in the theaters cause that movie was just bad. any way I know the actress of Abby and of corse Jennifer and yes you are right the head of the hand is the actor of Shang Tsung and the other main bad guy is Will Yun Lee and he has been in many movies and tv shows and he is a martial artist himself and Stick is Terrence Stamp who was in many things but he is most famous for playing General Zod in the superman 2 movie with christerpher still as superman and he was also the main evil ghost in the Huanted Mansion movie with Eddie Murphy. The fight in the end between Will Yun Lee and Jennifer is all them no stunt doubles involved and Jennifer broke a finger cause he had the swords and she had the sias outch. Any way I love Jennifer as Elektra and for the record the one you called Toxic's name is Typhoid after the well known accidentel serial killed typhoid mary back in the 19th century I do beleive where she was a healthy carrier of the sickness and was a cook not knowing she was killing people because of that. Any way glad you both liked this one and to me it really didn't deserve all the hate it got. Don't give me a heartattack please Thomas Jane who played in the first Punisher movie is alive and well that one was with John Travolta as the bad guy. You meant that Ray Stevens passed away he is the actor that played the Punisher in the second movie which wasn't my favorite of the two movies but oh well and so sad as well.
