Great video. My only comment is there’s no mention of some people not absorbing the vitamin d. My doctor put me on the 50,000 once a week with 1,200 the other 6 days/wk for 3 months. I asked to be retested after treatment and my level didn’t change one point. This continued treatment for 6 more months with the same result. I did some research after that and found that magnesium, vit D, k2, and calcium work together. Started with just magnesium and my levels double in about 6-8weeks. Maybe this might help someone.

I'm dubious about this doctor. I've heard good things about vitamin D supplementation (and magnesium) but show me where in nature it has ever been natural for human beings or any animal under the Sun to consume such enormous quantities of calcium. I'm also baffled as to how he might explain - regarding vitamin D - how and why humans and animals have lived in regions of the World that have low levels of sunlight for much of the year since the dawn of time.
BTW, you might want to check your vitamin B1 (thiamine).

Hercule Holmes what are your vitamin D levels? If they are low, supplement and re test. That's the only way you'll know where your up too with your levels. Most people's levels are low or they are deficient. It's not rocket science no matter where your from.

@@jonthebutcher I've never tested my vitamin D levels, but I do sometimes take supplements - not every day, but maybe once every 3 days I take 2,000UI of D3.
I've learned to be cautious of internet doctors because there are so many people who falsely use the title of "doctor" (which is legal in some parts of the World) despite having zero medical qualifications. If I lived in the USA I could proclaim myself to be a doctor, just not an M.D.

Joe, yes, it needs to be D3 containing K. We can take the supplement, but what matters is, does it get to the proper place to help us. Also, magnesium glysinate builds bone density. I am proof. I was told I am D deficient 6 years ago. Went through 5 years of Reclast infusions. Doctor told me iy didn't help. I raised my vitamin D3 +K intake, after speaking with my doctor and she said fine. I also take two large tablets of magnesium glycinate daily. More Americans than not is lacking enough magnesium glycinate.
I have also been on citracal for about 6 years. This years DEXA showed an increase in bone density. Good luck with your health.

Sunshine vitamin or steroid hormone was the most powerful medicine on earth given by our CREATOR.
The best way to get vitamin D3 is through sun exposure. Go outside and get some sun, especially in the mid-day when it’s the strongest.
However, many of us use sun block, which is good for our skin but not so helpful when it comes to the production of vitamin D3. By blocking out the UVA and UVB rays, sun block can interfere the skin’s ability to synthesize vitamin D3. GOD BLESS.

They did know. There were heaps of literature coming out as early as February-march 2020 suggesting vitamin d recommendations. The “experts” like CDC and pharma said nah nah it doesn’t help. Then the actual studies started coming out demonstrating vitamin D improves symptoms, acts as prevention etc - they said correlation doesn’t mean causation 🤦‍♀️ they knew it from the start, and they suppressed it on purpose. All experts who treated their patients with vitamins and mineral protocols - all were labeled “dangerous misinformation”. I watched it as it happened and was shocked. There’s a website that analysed more than 200 studies on vitamin D and Covid specifically, the absolute majority of them showed the benefit. The same applies to ivermectin which was suppressed. The whole pandemic was “accidentally on purpose” to push for vaccines - no doubt about it. We had the data on our hands how to treat Covid successfully from
The start, but it wasn’t the goal. I say it with confidence because there’s no other way to explain it.

If you were to take one single nutritional supplement, you should choose Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). This vitamin does not replace all the nutrients needed for optimal health, but it is important to know it is a prehormone, a hormone precursor. There is not one tissue or cell in your entire body that doesn't contain cholecalciferol receptors. It is recommended to everyone to take 35IU / pound of weight / day. Thank you for posting this video. It is always a pleasure to hear from Dr. Holick.

@@Ҫԓӎӊ Vitamin K1 is important for proper blood clotting. While Vitamin K2 works synergistically with Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D. So yes you need to take a balanced formula of Calcium, Magnesium and Vit. D with the K2 like our USANA MagneCal D.
Vitamin K2 deficiency can cause improper soft tissue calcification, which can cause atherosclerosis
Evidence shows that vitamin K2 supplementation reduces vertebral fractures by 60% and hip and other fractures by 80%. If you want, I can offer you a consultation and then we'll see, much like when you go to see a doctor.

@@ebenburger111 Yes, it's true. As long as you expose yourself to the midday sun, without sunscreen for about 15 minutes EVERY DAY. If you are Caucasian then this should provide you with up to 20,000IU of vitamin D. However, this is not possible for darker skin types, hence the importance of vitamin D3 supplementation for better health.
Vitamin D requirements vary widely. It is therefore important to check your level with a 25 (OH) D blood test. Based on recommendations from Dr. Holick and Dr. Cedric Garland - UCSD & Moores Cancer Center, SD, everyone, children and adults alike, should take 35IU of vitamin D3 per pound of weight daily.

Good info, but lacks one import point. D3 helps the body absorb calcium, which is good. What is not so good is the D3 doesn't tell calcium where to go. That's why you need to take Vit. K2, it tells calcium to go directly to bones and teeth, not soft tissue like arteries and organs like the heart or brain. Uncontrolled calcium hardens arteries and calcifies tissues in the brain which apparently are causing Parkinson's etc. Research K2 also, not just D3.
Jeff Bowles has a great book on D3, he experimented on himself. Give it a read.

I learned so much. I took notes. I'll need to listen to this lecture at least six more times to let it all sink in.
I am wondering whether there is a yin yang effect between vitamin D and melatonin. Melatonin is the chemical signal for darkness. Vitamin D is sunshine. Melatonin and vitamin D are both ancient molecules. Endogenous melatonin requires vitamin D during the day. Sunshine includes the blue wavelength. Melatonin production is shut down at night within 1.5 seconds of detection of blue wavelength by particular ganglionic cells of the retina immediately signaling the SCN. The SCN interprets blue wavelength as day and lack of blue as night. Melatonin is an anti-carcinogen and antioxidant and is capable of switching a cancerous cell into a normal cell through the mitochondria. I can see how melatonin depends on a reliable source of vitamin D. I don't know if vitamin D requires a dependable source of melatonin to complete its missions. I can't wait to learn more!-- Audrey in Chicago

You should probably be taking 25k IU daily not every other day to help get your levels up. My husband & I started out at the beginning of 2020 taking 10k IU daily, then upped it to 20k daily when we learned that it could help his lower back problems due to the anti-inflammatory properties. He immediately noticed a difference. At the beginning of last year my sister was researching this heavily and many sources are saying that toxicity doesn't happen until you get to above 50k IU daily. I would suggest doing more research on this topic, there is alot of info out there.

Does that mean that 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. is the optimal time to take vitamin D supplements to mimic nature? Referencing 22min22sec mark stating optimal time of day the body can make vitamin D provided the proper angle of the sun. --Audrey in Chicago

Why don't they say D3-K2 as the best to take, not the plain D you get at the store.

Hit there thanks for your info. Question though. You stated you cannot get vit D Deficiency from taking a statin drug because statins don’t get in your skin. My question would be doesn’t statins inhibit the liver from producing cholesterol there by the skin being deficient in cholesterol ultimately not able to convert to vitamin D ?

Statin induced myositis is being increasingly diagnosed. I have polymyositis which I believe was due directly to exceedingly low level of vit D3 which happened when I took high dose of vit k2 without taking extra D3 as they work synergistically. The mainstream answer to reduce creatine kinase level in the blood is to take immune suppressants such as mycophenolate or methotrexate. This suppression of the immune system does not cure the myositis of course and also suppresses the liver. I haven't seen anything but negative results from long term statin use. There are important co factors for VitD3 this video does not cover. Watch Jeff T Bowles in 'the miracle of high dose vit D' Fit FX on YT.
