Watering Frequency for Orchids
Orchids should be watered based on their environment, media type, and species. A general rule is to water when the growing medium is nearly dry but not completely parched. Epiphytic orchids like Phalaenopsis benefit from watering when their roots turn silvery-white, while terrestrial orchids may need more consistent moisture. Overwatering leads to root rot, while underwatering can cause dehydration. Adjust watering based on humidity, temperature, and airflow to mimic the orchid’s natural wet-dry cycles.

Hi at 0.18: i see an orchid that is very similar to 1 of my orchids. I don't know what its called actually but it's got long segmented stems with thick leaves. The flowers are a bunch of tiny yellow flowers. At the moment ive got 3-4 separate pots & I'm getting fantastic roots on 2 of them. Today i used your garlic & ginger method. I was so delighted to see a new stem/branch coming out of a piece that I brought back to life by cutting the segment back to healthy growth. I had applied cinnamon on the cut. Super delighted to see growth. On another I'm getting multiple new roots so fingers crossed 🤞 its going to give me a new Orchid. Looking healthy & happy. I really wish I'd seen your videos earlier but so far all your advice is working. Despite still not knowing what 1 i have. May have to join your blog as i spend hrs watching your videos. Thank you so much & I hope my comments aren't too much. 🫂🤞🇦🇺 & Africa 🌍 🩷

Once again guys, thanks for keeping me in check! just going out to water the garden, newly acquired vandas, and a quick mid week drink for the phals (only the phals) it has been windy here and they are in bark, I will feel the pot weight and look at the roots first. Thanks for sharing your knowledge again 😁

@@thenaturecompanyI’m loving my phals in LECA in a clear hard plastic orchid pot set into a cachepot. I can see the roots and control the level of direct water contact vs capillary action from the balls. I also just simply love hearing the water drain when I lift the pot out of the cachepot. Oddly satisfying!
