      @@ALBO4REAL they do the same job, but they are very different. gsync has a specific hardware module in each of its monitors making them work with sync. whereas freesync is the default and they don't need any extra hardware for the monitor to be a freesync monitor. that explains the price difference. also the technology behind freesync caps the framerates at what the monitor can do and only has a specific range of adaptability. ex - 60-144. gsync on the other hand has a much more adaptive range of frame rates and doesn't cap where the monitor can go more.

  • @cryptonix02
    @cryptonix02 5 лет назад +24

    You mentioned something completely incorrect. From a technical standpoint, NVIDIA completely unlocked FreeSync compatibility with their 1000/2000 series GPU's. So any FreeSync monitor, even older ones, should theoretically work perfectly assuming the FreeSync module is fully functioning. NVIDIA's statements seemed a bit misleading as a result as they "verified" certain monitors worked, but did not state that it works across the board and even harped on the idea that there are monitors which displayed issues. However further testing from the community instantly found that there was no issue getting it to work on basically any available FreeSync monitor at that monitor's intended range. So no, there are not only certain monitors that are "G-Sync compatible" with NVIDIA's newer cards.
    Now if you have a 900 series GPU or lower from NVIDIA, no, FreeSync will not work. But that's really the only limitation as of now. FreeSync is virtually 100% compatible with NVIDIA's 1000/2000 series cards.
    Please fix.

    • @drater1529
      @drater1529 5 лет назад +1

      Cryptonix02 is there really no issue? I just bought my 2080 for my first build and was hoping to save some money w the monitor but I’ve been seeing that only some are gsync compatible forcing me to spend like 500+ on a monitor for 1080 lol anyways thanks

    • @cryptonix02
      @cryptonix02 5 лет назад +7

      @@drater1529 Yeah, there's pretty much no issue. I would go for a newer FreeSync monitor for sure which you can still get at insanely good bargains. Also I recommend looking into the FreeSync range of each monitor you consider because that determines at what FPS FreeSync will actually work. You want something that works from at LEAST 40 FPS all the way up to its max refresh rate. So if you want 144 Hz, look for a FreeSync range of 40-144 FPS. Ideally 30-144 FPS would be even better.

    • @maidul97
      @maidul97 5 лет назад +5

      @@drater1529 There are no issues with using freesync with Nvidia cards. This video comes off in the conclusion that the better VRR is GSync which is not true. What you have to consider whether a monitor is good or not is the *panel* itself *NOT* the VRR technology it's using. This is crucial to point out in bold because freesync has gotten a bad rep as there are more monitors on the market with it than the alternative; leading there to be a bigger sample size which ultimately means there are more bad apples in the bunch. However the so called 'bad freesync' monitors are terrible not because they have freesync, but mainly because the actual panel that they are using is just straight up bad. This is true for the alternative btw, there is no substitute to actually having to research the monitor itself to find out whether it's good or bad regardless if it's using GSync or freesync.
      Any good freesync monitor works just as well if not better than the GSync equivalent, it all comes down to the panel being used.

    • @maidul97
      @maidul97 5 лет назад +2

      @@drater1529 in my opinion I think freesync is where it's at, simply because it's much more diverse, cheaper and has better compatibility since it's not vendor locked. The differences between them both is negligible ( see LG 32GK850F(freesync) VS LG 32GK850G(GSync)) so the lower cost and higher compatibility is a big draw for freesync imo.

    What have your experienced when using TWO monitors??? My max frame rate drops to the refresh rate of the monitor with the lowest refresh rate. One monitor is 60HZ and the other is 165HZ . If I unplug the 60HZ monitor from the graphics card, I get the up to 165 FPS. 580X graphics card. Has anyone else had isssues with using more than one monitor?

      variable or adaptive refresh rate means your monitor can operate with a range of different refresh rates e.g. 60hz-240hz and it can switch up from whatever in that range. freesync is a way the "program" try to match the frames your gpu put out with the monitor refresh rate, so if your monitor can put out on 60 fps, but your gpu can put out a 100fps, then freesync will limit it to 60fps to match with your monitor display

The logical (and "objective") conclusion is that FreeSync is the clear winner ... G-Sync will probably fade away. Technologically more advanced - but who cares? It's not as simple as FreeSync having less of a range compared to G-Sync. That boils down to the individual monitor's specific implementation of FreeSync. Many older FreeSync monitors had a limited range, but most newer ones have just as good of a range as their G-Sync equivalents. G-Sync does perhaps have more consistency, but FreeSync has improved dramatically over the last few years on that front and is nearly identical now.
