- I search for the perfect mini to paint in my collection of models. I've got tons of Warhammer, 40K, DnD, Star Wars, and other minis, and somewhere in all that is a model that will be a joy to paint up today!

Brent: "This is a really strong contender"
Your comment is a really strong contender
He just loves them all. Such a happy guy I would just watch for the relaxed vibe he imparts to viewers, not just to lessons on how to paint :)
Poll for Brent to paint all his Kroots
We wana see you paint your tau
TAU FOR SALE!
Paint those Kroots!!
No one paints tau 😭😭
Corn Chip this comment actually hurt
Good video but there's this guy talking about modeling and painting that sometimes gets in the way of the cats
My wife agrees.
@@SJGvP smart women
Oh that's just Bruce Jenner don't mind him.
I thought the cats choice of bathing options told us HIS opinion on it
OwnedByCats username checks out.
Everyone's a critic.
Every once in a while I’ll forget that Brent is absolutely Jacked. Just sitting there, painting minis, absolutely Yolked.
He seems like a great guy. Takes care of himself (and his cats), has a very good job, friendly and absolutely passionate about his hobby.
@@murmurrrr yea hes like bob ross with minis :D
I think this takes the cake for my favorite comment of all time
@@murmurrrr Yeah. I wanna be more like Brent.
he be at the gym 8 days a week bro
I just started painting for the first time yesterday, have done 11 goblins and like 5 or 6 of my ork for 40k played 2 games of kill team so far. Best hobby I could have picked up. Happiest I have been in along time
Congrats! Many of us, including me, can't even paint one mini per day, so you're doing great
@@tymoteuszkosinski5352 it's only been base coats but it's something, eventually I'll try to add a wash or highlight when I get confident
@@notsospicybuns1162 You would be suprised what just a single wash of agrax earthshade could do for the model. For a first time you can just try covering most of the model in it. No need to be to carefull. Great to hear you are enjoying the hobby!
@@notsospicybuns1162 Washes are the best confidence boosters available! All of as sudden all the details pop right back at you! Welcome to the hobby!
@@notsospicybuns1162 Adding the washes is my favourite part as it always looks the model look much better.
my wife says you have nice complexion
She likes us rosy bois
I appreciate everything this channel and you do. Everything is kinda nuts in the world right now. My life isn't exactly good right now. But sitting on my porch at 3 am getting the notification this video was up immediately made some of my worry and anxiety go away. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do.
I know this may not help much, but things won't be this bad forever. History has shown us that the greatest, most helpful changes come after great struggles. The world will endure, and we will get through this.
Sending some good energy your way, hang in there. I'm right there with you, sitting here watching late at night, helping me relax to take on the next day!
@@rainwater739 it means so much. Thank you 💓

Hahahaha
Cat does cat things in video opening
When I finished painting the last miniatures of my Kings of War army, after collecting it for some 20 or so years, I was just relieved. I felt freedom. Soon after, gave it all away. Now the kids have started playing warhammer 40k, so I have started a small collection of minis for myself that I paint along with the kids, when they paint their minis. They have hoards of unpainted minis to go through. Myself, I will never again collect a single miniature unless it is instantly getting painted, so my space wolf army grows very slowly, but will always only contain painted miniatures.
You my good Sir are a man of virtue!
I wish I had your attitude... This wall of grey gets more horrifying and dreadful every payday.
@@Yallan I still have lead minis in their boxes.. and now I have AoS stuff to paint..
I...am...slowly....painting....all...my...orks. Got them all built and primed and based. Halfway there!!
You are truly the Bob Ross of Miniatures. The forgiving and enthusiastic tone of your videos is a light in the darkness!
You know, suddenly I feel much better about my Pile of Shame
I own about 10-15 models in total I'm fairly new to the hobby so I love seeing the enormous collections veterans have it's super inspiring! Thanks again for your awesome videos Brent!
Most would recommend that you don’t buy more until you paint what you have. Most don’t follow their own recommendation.
@@harlequin2000 I have literally thousands of miniatures I hoarded over the last 30 years...
Don't buy more till your finished, it's a trap
Don't finish what you have until you buy more!
At the beginning I thought, "Oh cool, this gives me x miniatures, that's a lot of plastic for the money." Let's just say that a few years later, a lack of models is no longer an issue. No idea how that happened. 😄
Me: I should go paint some of my minis.
Also me: searches through RUclips to watch a year old video of Brent also not painting.
hehehe, you should go paint some minis!!! :-)
Do we want to talk about how Brent knew all the names to these models?
Nates Miniatures The cat is more important.
Right? He's full of surprises
It’s written on half of them since they’re still in box.
@@jaanikaapa6925 Can we talk about how Brent knows the names of all these cats?
Makes me really happy to see the "OH SHIT LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND!!!" face on Brent.
Why arent all hobby videos this relaxing to watch and listen to.
All others are always rushing or trying to get to a "punch line" instead of just enjoying the ride!
I love watching you go through this massive collection and still somehow you know the name of every model you pick out. You clearly have such a deep love for this hobby! This week I’ll pick out something and paint it just for the heck of it! Gonna take a day off though, as I just finally finished painting my first Necromunda gang
You never, ever , fail to put me in a good mood, you always look so entusiastic and serene, i am sure it must not be easy to manage to go to your happy place for every single video, Thank you.
Nice shame pile :) I’ve been going through mine recently, and found Inquizitor Karamazov (the cathedral dreadnought guy). I remember yeaaars ago my mom bought him for me in Italy of all places. Still unassembled. Shameeee.
This is wholesome
I love just randomly starting new projects, finishing them...that’s another story
Brent: No orks today.
Brent 3 minutes later: OoOh sNoTlInGs!
To me, it's a pile of happiness. Even models that are unpainted or unbuilt still bring joy. I like looking at the box art, looking through the bitz, imagining what I might do with them. I equally enjoy watching others go through their piles in videos like this, seeing models and kits that I maybe have never seen before, or just marveling at all that glorious plastic and metal.
Love how his ponytail is still tucked in his shirt. I immediately get the image in my head of Brent walking around in pjs and then being like "oh shit, I want to record a video, let's change into a normal shirt" :P
Re: the Battlefield Gothic ship, you could always use it as a holographic display on a command table.
Seeing the roman army in the background a long time ago sparked MY joy and got me to buy that same box hahaha so don't feel bad about that being in your pile.
It's a fun box, I've painted pretty much all of mine. Check out the upcoming game Infamy Infamy from toofatlardies. It's set to be a really cool set (with not too many models needed) for that period.
Well Brent, I’ve been watching your videos for about a year now and you’ve done it. You convinced me to jump from ww2 models into the fantasy world. I have bought both the Start Collecting kits for Seraphon. I’m totally looking forward to putting them together and painting them and I started today just before I noticed your video!!
My whole and humble collection ITS the pile of SHAME. Hope to learn from you Brent. Its a great first to overcome anxiety from other stages of life. Warm reggards form Chile not only to you but also all the folks watching!!
I had to rewatch the beginning because I was distracted by your chonky cat
Same I immediately started paying attention to the car.
"This is a crocodile from crocodile games."
I'm sold.
I just watched a man spend 45 minutes rummaging through his unpainted minis.
Blame the lockdown, it's easier than way ;)
I just did too, but he looked like a kid unwrapping presents at Christmas rummaging through those bins! He got quite excited at some (sometime forgotten) models and it's nice to see others feels like that!
And it was really, really interesting! :-)
I didn’t - I was painting my minis at the same time ... but I did *hear* him talk and rummage about ...
I really like the cake pan stoarge! I also like the chair scoots when sped up lol.
The ginger cat is huge!!! Never noticed before😂
Your cats are incredibly magnificent beasts. I mean this is an interesting video but them cats...
arent we all here for the cats anyway ? :D
To be that cat - leave them silly plastic things to the hoomans.
That pewter Green Knight gave me such a massive nostalgia trip
Also... Now I wouldn't KILL anyone for that Mordheim witch hunter model... but I'd definitely do them serious bodily harm
9:20 NSFG - Not Safe For Goobertown
Goobertown: Look i own the whole GW range.
Me: 3 boxes of Intercessors
Thats actually good - a pile of shame can be a big distraction. Being more disciplined in your hobby and just buying the models you need for your project/army - then painting them with more love and enthusiasm is a go to.
I actually have no models so........🤣
You should keep it small lol. It will be better in the long run.
Yea, Just started a admech army and still have a start collecting box.
The problem is that, the more you get into the lore, it draws you into collecting more models. I just got Prophecy of the Wolf and now I can’t wait to get the new starter set of Necrons vs. SpaceMarines!
This is an incredibly soothing video to sort by.
Also, just how many grits of sandpaper can one buy? A lot... a truly mind boggling amount.
A truly good trove. I think it’s always great to just paint something without obligation to cleanse your pallet and reinvigorate your hobby.
Also I won’t be taking that Kroot bait, my vote will be for the Dark Eldar Female Dracon.
At first I thought about commenting, "Label those bags, Brent!" But then I realized I really enjoyed watching him rifle through them like a squirrel digging through a bird feeder.
hehehe, oh yeah, that's the best part!! :-)
As someone who has just gotten into painting minis i want to say thank u for inspiring me to get into the hobby
I just enjoy how excited you looked almost the whole time! It made me excited and I don’t play any table top games or anything I just saw Star Wars stuff in the thumbnail.
I would paint the gnome with potion. I definitely fall into these traps. Especially, "This model is really special/important/expensive. I don't want to mess it up."
Excellent content as always, Brent. I have the same arrangement of plastic storage boxes full of ziplock baggies... and the same issue with an expanding pile of shame. It hasn't been growing, but it also hasn't been shrinking these past few years. It's actually a nice idea to go through the boxes to see if there's something cool that "sparks joy" to paint or if there's something cool that's been forgotten about. I hope to follow your example with such a delve someday soon.
Anyways - always good to see new content from you. Stay safe and healthy and keep it up!
The moment is ALWAYS right for 40k Orks....WAAAAAAGHH!
I love how wholesome this channel is. No crappy metal music. No "grim dark future" intro.
However, I did get anxiety about the making of a big pile of things that all had to be put away again.
Thank you for making me feel better about my own pile of shame. Thought I do also have books. And computer games...
These are my favorite cat videos. I love how the cat is barely acknowledged besides when he drank your water while you were down in the basement.
I don't often watch you but you give off such a kind, calm, Bob Ross-ish vibe. Keep it up dawg.
Here I am, just back from a short vacation, playing with my cats, watching another person's cats chilling.
Your cats are well-behaved. There are cats out there who would love to play with and break some miniatures and to mess up painting sessions.
I don't play 40k or paint minis but a watch literally every video I come across 0:00 to the end. Love it.
brent, i gotta say you're like my bob ross of minis painting. not necessarily in the step by step how to all the time, but certainly in the soothing accompaniment to whatever I am painting while watching. and youve got a fair bit of how to videos as well
Pile of shame in a nutshell : Dark eldar test models xD
Wait so I just watched a 40 minute video where Brent talks about minis and doesn't actually paint any welp frick
No better background for finishing the dwarf minion dirty dozen (MassiveDarkness) - except I had to look at the screen whenever the cats were performing. Brent, your enthusiasm is infectious! Well done 👍🏻
...and the sealed cake pan idea is just right 🙏🏻😀
Another honest and inspiring video, thanks Brent. I came across the exact same witch hunter a few weeks back, partially painted years go. I picked it up, turned it over and put it back down thinking ‘I should save this for a special occasion...’ After watching this I’m going to go find that mini!
"Every time I go into any store, I try to buy something"
This explains a lot.
I waited for the conclusion: " i´ve got nothing to paint!"
Thanks for sharing-stay positiv
Remember Brett 'The Hitman' Hart? This is Brent, the Paintman with a Heart.
Seeing that Bretonian green knight instantly hit that nostalgia button for me. Way back when I started playing, that mini was the pride of my collection
All of the old Inqusition metal models are so characterful. Takes me back to when I just got into the hobby when GW released the Daemonhunters codex. Seeing your back log of minis made me realise I regretted selling the old models... something I try not to do anymore. Be interested to see what your final choice was Brent.
Same here!
Some where in his stacks of cake tins is a cake
Loved this, really relaxing watching you dig through all that treasure.
I love just how much pure joy you can see on Brent's face as he looks at just about each and every item. Literally a kid in a candy store.
I wish I could just have one good model that I could spend a week on and be proud of
You can! Just like everything else, in this hobby practice makes progress. Buy some pre-loved second hand minis and use them to practice, and soon enough you’ll be able to paint a mini you’re really proud of!
Another quality Goobertown video about great painting tips.. Where the top comment will be about Brent's cat cleaning its balloon-knot 30 seconds in.
This is the best video. Makes me not feel so bad about having so much stuff unpainted. Feel pretty much as you said 'just find something that sparks joy'. Lots of stuff that does that. But sometimes it is great to just go through collection to find something. Sometimes stuff you forgot about. Plus those cats. Love them :)
I love having your videos on in the background while I do stuff. It makes my day so much more laid back and productive. 👍
Ah man, such a nice chill approach to looking at one's collection of minis in waiting.
This is the kind of wholesome content we all need in the world right about now ! Thanks again Brent
Man you are so much more organised with your collection and general storage. Something to aspire to!
that was a really fun journey! thanks for sharing your collection
Who would have thought that watching a cool guy go through his gaming stuff would be so calming???
I just can't get over how happy and smiley he is all the time in this video, it makes me so happy.
Just subbed, these vids are super mellow and wholesome as heck, and just getting into mini painting myself, def a great time.
Your videos have become my daily affirmations. Definitely bring light and color to the world. Keep up the great work.
Something about seeing Brent rip into his old stuff like a child on Christmas makes me happy
hey, brent I just to say thank you for uploading this (in general really) I struggle sleeping at night but your content puts me to sleep. I know this sounds like a backhanded compliment but I mean it in the best way possible so thank you again Brent.
I have no pile of shame. Just a glorious lot of miniatures that I’ll paint, or not. It gives me pleasure to collect it and that is part of my hobby
Ok, Brent looks like what it feels like to wake up rested and in a good mood. Thank you man, this is really nice video.
Goober town + eons of battle for president! Brent and Jay could do some great things!
jay is good people :-)
just seeing you paint with so much joy makes me happy for some reason
For my first Goobertown Hobbies video I don't know that I could have asked for a better one. I'm hooked. Thank you for the content, Brent.
It fills my soul watching you excitedly look though bins of minis and just, point out what you think looks nice.
Totally agree on the Malifaux. They have a lot of great looking minis. Definitely plan that for the future.
Loved the video, definitely made me feel better about my pile!!! Also i may have to steal that cake pan idea.
I did not imagine how much fun it is to watch you searching through your pile of shame for the quest of painting the perfect miniture. I enjoy it so much! Keep on doing that great work you inspire me in my painting skills and the joy of painting. You are my Bob Ross for Tabletop Paints
I absolutely love your demeanor and tone. Just found your channel, look forward to watching more.
everytime i have a super bad day i watch a video of goobertown hobbies and ur calm voice brings me down everytime. Thanks for ur videos Really!
Always an inspiration, great video, thank you for sharing.
I feel like I just went to your house for the first time and you're showing me all your cool stuff. I love it.
I love the cats! That and the chilled vibe of the vids give him the edge over other channels!
Sweet! This video made my day. I feel much better about my own Pile of Shame which now seems tiny and do able in my lifetime.
It is a large collection, buddy...but I've been accumulating for for about 45 years and started out as a married adult...now an old married man...yeah...she's amazing...if you continue at your level into my age bracket...your may surpass my little mini problem :D oh...you might also start thinking about adding on to your home...I did that about 20 years ago...continue to enjoy what you are doing...its worth it.
And i thought i had a pile of shame..... an entire life is not enough to paint all these kits!! But always a pleasure to watch your videos Brent and listen to your very relaxing voice! :) Keep going.
Okay...I had planned to tell you exactly which one of your finalist that I wanted to see painted. When I saw the 1st one, I said, "YES! That's the one! I hope you choose that one!" Then you showed the 2nd, & the third, the 4th...I felt compelled to say "yes" to each one. They all looked really cool. I could enjoy a video with each & every one. Regardless of the choice, I already know that I will enjoy it. Looking forward to seeing who you picked. I also might add that I really enjoyed this video. I liked seeing you look through your collection. Thanks for that.
I wish i had this many cool minitures to paint, lost my job due to covid so ive had to slow down on my hobby time so i can make what i have last. I love your enthusiasm for painting, it's infectious, you are like the Bob Ross of hobbying
Loved this vid - spent a happy hour watching it whist removing the mould lines from a squad of 2nd edition Plastic Space Marines - great stuff!
