Cheers! The best part about mountain biking is that in the middle of a great ride, everyone truly has equal amounts of fun no matter what level they’re at. Getting on two wheels in the woods is all that matters.
I know thw feeling of having recently conquered a scary feature and towing someone else in, for that huge step up it must’ve been very rewarding to help them out. Sick video thanks for the great content!
some great confidence riding there , but also a good reminder at the start to not get carried away when showing friends your favourite trails , so easy to just send it a little too hard
I love that gap jump onto the skinny with 3 jump options at the end! That and all the wood features here looked really well done. I heard we used to have a lot more wood features at Hydrocut trails in Ontario, up high in the trees, but they were torn down in the name of safety when the trails became official :( Great riding as usual! :)
Cool! I subscribe to Eric & Yuka's channels as well! Have to have something to watch while I'm working dreaming about my Ibis unicorn I ordered in January that I have yet seen. Cheers!
11:56 I was waiting for Eric to comment on the case marks on the first planks on that landing. A week ago you could still see the dirt/tread mark of whoever got real lucky recently 😅
Cheers to you guys, Good stuff. I'm working on a new trail In Campbell River that starts past Radar hill and will eventually make it all the way back to town. My trail bud just snapped his achilles tendon so I'm doing it on my own now... first section is nearly done (my second to last vid on here) Just brought my bike to it for the first time yesterday Ha some climbs will take an Ebike but if it wasn't a challenge it wouldn't be fun ;)
I always bike from west bragg creek to moose mountain with a friend we park our cars at each parking lot and make a while day of doing trails. Also, didn't know you were from alberta :)
Bro I could’ve totally used another 7 to 13 minutes of nice trails with your narration behind it, gotta put those things everywhere. Keep the sd card in ya shoe!!!
what day did you go? I was just there on saturday and even though i’m a beginner, it was still very interesting to see some of the big features first hand. anyways, love the content
I would but 1) it’s hard to find a DM stem works with the OneUp bar and 2) I really like the 35mm stem length and it would be tricky to setup a 35mm DM stem and clear everything.
You should try to consciously let off the brakes early on these berms immediately following big features, get high and let the berm absorb your speed and keep you smoothly linking trail sections
I was at a trailhead not long ago and there were some kids there discussing who their favorite riders were. Of course, it's 2020 so they weren't talking about EWS guys or people on the UCI circuit - they were talking about RUclipsrs. It seems pretty clear that a lot of younger and newer riders are entering the world of mountain biking via RUclips. And having a popular video and a good thumbnail seems to mandate that the theme always be "watch me survive this massive feature". As a person who has been riding at Moose for years, one thing I think a lot about is how the social media stuff is pushing a lot of inexperienced riders to get in over their heads. People see this stuff on RUclips, a platform that (as you know) never does anything justice, and soon we have another kid getting air-lifted off of T-Dub. This year has been insane with ambulances a daily sight at Moose. I worry for the future of the trails once the province clues in to the obvious trend. This isn't a complaint by any means. Your videos are among the best out there and you're doing a great job of showcasing the area. But I'm curious if this is something RUclipsrs ever think about or struggle with. At the very least, it'd be an interesting discussion for a video ;-) Cheers.
Beth and I talk about this often. We've also chatted about this subject with the main people at the Moose trail society and from what they've shared with me, the numbers of people in general have skyrocketed this year, with many riders being new to the sport as you mentioned, so more injuries were expected . When I put together videos like this and others, I always try to clearly show that 1) I've had to work my way up to these features, which takes years 2) I take my time looking at the feature, doing run-ups, following riders who have already done the feature many times and 3) finally attempting the feature *if* I feel I'm ready in that moment. So I feel we try our best to show the correct way to approach hitting big features/scary trails, but there will always be people who get in over their head after watching me hit this stuff, which is a bummer. They're certainly more brave than me to rush into hitting these bigger features!
Great video as normal... very disappointed with you forgetting the memory cards... I would never do anything like that....😜😂🤣 apart from every other ride... one time I even managed to forget my brain bucket...
You and me both! I actually forgot my helmet in my car earlier and didn't realize it until we were at the top of the first trail... brain no worky that day...
@@TheLoamRanger And the worst part is that you missed filming the best parts of Jean Guy! That new trail work they've done on the lower half of that trail is outstanding. Daniel, I live in Edmonton around 142st and 118ave. I have noticed in riding around the area, lots of HUGE buildings that are empty/not occupied. An intelligent person with some business savvy, could make a killing. You are right. Theres nothing here. How cool would a dedicated indoor mtb park be? Have you checked out any of the "Ray's indoor mtb park" videos? If they build it, I will camp out overnight so that I can be first in line. The place would be packed in the winter. If you put this bug in the right ear, it could happen. It would be like winning the lottery.
Sometimes on a bigger feature like that, you're just bracing for impact and so when I hit the ground, I knew I hit kinda hard, but didn't realize it was because I sent it too deep. The next run I didn't bottom out, so I hit the sweet spot.
