If you place some wood underneath the acrylic and cut and drill the wood takes some of the stress off the acrylic. Another tool to use would have been a router as the bit spins at a high rpm’s and less likely to catch and cause a fracture. Used to make acrylic baffles for fish tanks and found this was the easiest way for me to
There is an unofficial marina cat called Jay who has been known to visit (and has featured in previous episodes). We are looking forward to watching Jay discover the "missing" door and then walk into our forcefield 😄😄
We have something for that but is just needs a bit of modification. On the plus side, there is only water behind us and a great big binnacle so there is no-one there to look in 😃 So as long as we do not turn the boat around ....
The nervous anticipation meter was off the scale!! 😁 I have a feeling the control you pointed out is not the speed though? Is there a numbered wheel at the top? The lever control is to vary the blade cutting movement from straight up and down to a back and forward oscillating movement. So the blade swings as it rises and falls… Nothing like a swinging saw is there? 😳😂
I do not think that our saw is that complex, it is not like Ryobi is at the top of the scale of super-quality power tools 😄 It was the setting for the little picture of cutting a plastic pipe so I went with that. The other options (pictures) were wood, thin metal and thicker metal.
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Having looked at their ad for the saw I stand corrected... Yours apparently is NOT a swinger... 😀 Whew! Excellent job with that latch.
Good to see you've drilled holes in the intersection cuts, if you dont it is known as a stress raiser, a fair few aircraft have suffered catastrophic failures because of it, i wouldn't buy a yacht with sharp squared portlights either.
A handsaw??? I would still be doing it 😄😄 I was expecting the jigsaw to make a mess of it but in reality the cuts were very clean. I was surprised but there we are...
Great job by the way.
Thanks!

Well, my "work table" is wooden so maybe that helped 😃 and a router is the one tool we do not have but have always rather fancied having...
Being Irish and using the saw I would have thought you would play a Jig. 🤠
I should have used a hammer, or possibly a shovel....
Who's going to be the first to not see it and bang straight into it!!!!!!!💯😆love yas lots
We agree. Talking of putting a sticker in the middle of it to make it visible 😃😃😃
Great job Bev! Everyone should have a Bev on board!! All the best. James
Fortunately there is only one of me unless Professor Tegmark's theories are correct.... Glad you enjoyed it and thanks 👍
The moment of truth aka the big reveal. Fantastic job Bev❤
Thank you
Lovely job Bev👏👏👍🏻
Thank you! 😊
Lovely job! Well done that girl!
Thank you! Cheers!
That new door looks so good, it's so clear that you almost don't see it.
That is actually something of a problem 😄 but we have a fix in hand (we hope). No doubt it will get scratched and scored eventually...
Lovely work! Particularly enjoyed the accompanying music.
Thank you 👍 We're glad you enjoyed it.
Well done! Beautiful. So clear you may have the neighbours cat walk right into it 🤗 looking for some yummy treats. 🇨🇦

There was enough unbroken part to keep for a 'bottom board'.
We have the wooden one for that and the old slides will be coming out next year as soon as it is warm enough for epoxy / gelcoat repairs
Well done ladies. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid xx
Thanks guys 👍
A fab job well done!
Thank you
Really nice job. Encouraging for me with plenty such jobs to do. Steady as you go.
Alas... boatwork. The never-ending job list. Best of luck with yours 👍 and thanks for watching and commenting
Making the most of the day light what little we get this time of year 😂 only 16 more days until days start to get longer 😂
Looking forward to those balmy days and shorter nights 😄😄😄😄
.grand job with the perspex , i would get some black out film like on chauffer cars so you can see out but nobody see in

I am also glad. JigSaws are not my best power tool so the simpler the better in my opinion

From my aviation days, I am well familiar with the tales of the Dehavilland Comet. I also chamfered the drill holes as well. Every little helps...
@@SailingYachtSaltyLass Ah, a an engineer like myself 👍
I am not really an engineer but I know quite a few of them and it rubs off... 😄
Great job, where did your source the acrylic?
McMordies on the Ravenhill Road. They have a website that comes up if you Google their name and address
Where did you get the acrylic that width? I want to do the same job.
McMordies on the Ravenhill Road in Belfast.
I think I would have used a hand saw for cutting plastic sheet
