Seriously, I’ve been watching so many of their old live performances recently. The crowd goes wild at each show but then this. Such a disappointment, we only had a few more years left with MCA. Makes me want to appreciate people even more before they get sick or pass. I don’t believe he was diagnosed yet at this performance but still, such legends and a missed opportunity
Hot and no doubt thirsty on one of the hottest days of 2007, had already suffered through about 6 hours of crap like James Blunt, Black Eyed Peas, Spinal Tap and Kasabian and most were no doubt only there for headliners Metallica, the Foo Fighters or Madonna anyway. Also despite getting a full soundcheck the previous day apparently this lot suffered with bad in venue sound (this is the TV, not what those at Wembley heard). Still a shit audience though.

@@bobtwichew3103 People read about Live Earth 2007. There were many other incredible bands and stars like Foo Fighters, Metallica, Madonna, James Blunt, Damien Rice, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, so don't expect everyone to be a BB fan.
I was there, and close to the stage , too. Of course many didn't know Beastie Boys music, that was a festival with various artists, so don't expect the audience to cheer every artist in the same way.. I'm glad that I've been able to see them live in the same day as Metallica, Foo Fighters, Red Hot and Madonna (why not?).

So amazing that from the 1980's throughout the 2000's they could fill an auditorium with loving fans. They were real rappers/MCs unlike the angry, "gangster" rappers, those ones are here today n gone tomorrow (not soon enough). I LOVE The Beastie Boys n have since I was a little one, quite sure I'll always love them. They did what they loved n loved what they did......Rest In Peace MCA

I was in the stadium when they came on. I'm huge BB fan. However they had decided to turn down some of the speakers as an example of energy savings because it was Live Earth. From where I was in the seating area, we could hardly hear a thing. It was a nice gesture (I'm an environmentalist so I'm all for it) but it fell flat. So perhaps this explains a bit the crowd looking uninterested. It didn't come near the energy of the other arena shows they did.

To the 5 boroughs was released a few years before this and was #1 on the billboard 200, topped the Canadian charts, top of the R&B charts. Sooo not sure what ur talking about. They were incredibly popular in this time period.
Exactly. My point is that people went for the electronica they were putting out in the 00s They werent dancing to the hip hop they were playing in the beginning of the video (which is why I most love Beatsie Boys) Shame...

It's to big of a stage(physically) for the boys and the bright lights don't fit their underground style. Still, a great performance.

It's not falsetto. It's a blend of head voice and chest, with just enough throat to add the rasp. It's actually very difficult to get.
