One thing thats absolutely ironic with teachers is how they say "oh the teacher you'll have next year won't tolerate this type of behavior" and the teacher you have next year is much more laid back 💀💀
middle school was absolute hell, i was getting bullied and they did nothing about it, blaming stuff i did 2 damn years ago, constantly treating me like shit, and they told me "good luck in high school cause you'll get locked in a room alone if you continue this type of behavior" guess what ? my high school years are the best years of my life since primary. the worst part is, my brother is still in that school, and told me the teachers continue bragging about how i was their worst student blah blah blah bruh get a life
Elementary and middle school teachers were out here saying things like "That's not gonna slide in High School!" Next thing you know I'm in high school now and it slides.
I had an incident at our school where there was an actual fire at school, and if you were caught texting your parents, your phone was taken away. For example, I had just enough time to say there was a fire before I was forced to not contact my parents. This resulted in my parents panicking like mad.
Oof, the same exact thing happened in my school. They claim to care about "safety", yet when you do the safest thing in that situation, they get mad at you.
Dude, if it’s not too late, you may be able to sue your school for that! That’s a massive safety issue. We had something similar, but instead of just not allowing phones, they also installed little boxes around the school that blocked any connection to the internet from any device not using the school Wi-Fi. I looked it up, and my school blocking cellular data access IS ILLEGAL under FEDERAL LAW! Not even the only law me school violated!
There was a fire drill at my school and a kid in class got a hart attack but he didn't die thankfully (also they didn't tell us there were a fire drill so it scared him)
My elementary and middle school were SUPER strict on their rules, and with the way that students behaved. If we were late for 1 minute, boom. You got in trouble, and they gave you so much homework to the point where it was basically pointless to do it & Finish it. They would always tell us that “we are preparing you for high school, because it’s gonna be more hard than this” when in reality, my high school is WAY more chill then that. You’re late for 10 minutes, it’s fine, and the teachers don’t care about the other students not doing their assignments as long as they don’t act like nuisances.
Exactly. My old teacher said "we are preparing you for high school, it will be a lot harder than this", but, like you said, my school is way better than this, it's very chill and I don't get stacks of homework like in my old school.
We had a Science teacher who let us eat in class and drink in class and draw in class and no one appreciated her. Which is just sad. She was an underrated teacher.
W Teacher. My Pre-Algebra teacher is also quite laid-back. Sometimes, he gives out snacks as a reward for good behavior, usually on fridays. We also got to watch a movie on a half-day because the other Pre-Algebra class wouldn’t have the class that day.
You could use your phone in college well only for my old college school she still goes to college and you’re saying that she can use your phone at her school but not your school no, that’s so unfair
My favorite was when they tell you that your college professor won’t accept any bad behavior (getting up to go use the bathroom). Y’all college professors do not care.
Only there for the money also I hate when the teachers say I am going to be out for a bit when I am very sleepy so all I hear is from the kid 2ho has a lot of energy for some reason run around or play a loud game so I hear is HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
yeah if ill ever be going ti college im going ti finland because every other shool is just dumb like finland has the best education score whule they barely give any homework and their hours are shorter
A week or so before my sophomore year of high school began, every student was given an online form… thing… basically going over the rules and whatnot. One of the things was about hats and hoods, and it was a question asking “Can you tell who these people are?” and displayed a few staff members with half of their faces covered. How tf am I supposed to know who *staff members* are? Furthermore, most people don’t obscure half of their face with a hood, so don’t tell me that it’s a “safety precaution”.
It’s meant to be some of sugarcoat to “we despise the God-given right to freedom of self-expression: a constitutional amendment in the fucking Bill of Rights. Where does that apply in schools?
This is one of the biggest reasons why I’m glad to be starting college this year. Finally getting some much needed freedom and being able to just get up and go to the bathroom when I need to is going to feel so amazing.
Same here brother. We passed the great trial of life. We are free from oppression. Our darkest years of life are over! For us, it’s on to new and better things!
Much different. Someone asked me once what time do you have lunch when in college. I said anytime that you are not in class and the dining hall is open. Hard for those in HS to get out of the mindset of periods
Just give homework to misbehaving students so they won't misbehave and will actually learn and do the work. It's not that hard. If the student keeps misbehaving give them more.
In my school they made a rule which meant we were allowed to talk in lessons because of how children were turning out and it was meant to help express ourselves, as long it was something to do with the lesson. But some teachers found a way to bypass this rule by giving us detentions for disturbing and distracting the class with loud noises😭😭
Homework was created as a PUNISHMENT for students who misbehaved in class by a Italian American teacher in California in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
"How it was explained to me during my training is that refusing to allow a child to go to the bathroom is denying them their physical needs and creates the potential for embarrassment or emotional trauma. This is considered abuse. Abuse is illegal. Therefore, refusing to allow a child to go to the bathroom is illegal."
If it’s for “preventing a student from doing misdeeds in a school bathroom,” when they show that they don’t need to, I understand, but if a student is genuinely crying and holding their crotch in desperation, I would just tell them to get the fuck out of the classroom and let them use the bathroom. This is deplorable.
6:20 If the prefects catch you in the halls during class with out a hall pass they write you detention or drag you to the headmaster's office. Those of you who don't know what a prefect is they are hall monitors. In private schools hall monitors are instead called prefects.
One of the rules at our school, didn’t allow guys to where hats, but allowed girls to cuz they were “expressing themselves through fashion”. At that point, I just started wearing a hat the rest of the year, and didn’t get in trouble for it.
This is soo relatable 😭 lol One rule in my school is NO jewelry bc "iTs GoNnA dIsTrAcT tHe OtHeR sTuDeNtS" LIKE BRO IT DOESN'T DISTRACT ANYONE UNTIL YOU SAY SOMETHING!!!
When a teacher said “I don’t know, can you?” When you ask to go to the bathroom would fill me with the absolute most rage and permanent dislike of a teacher because they’re just holding you up when you’re trying to go.
A meme I heard from memenade: The guy who invented homework after seeing the future schools giving homework at the students for no reason: Omg what have I done?!
I got in trouble in highschool for writing my personal notes in "the wrong language." Like, seriously in trouble. The school administration decided it was a bomb threat. They made up a new rule that I could only write in English except for assignments from a (required) foriegn language class or all my teachers had to fail me at once. Yes, me specifically. After I graduated, they made a school wide rule that no one was allowed to interact with the ESL students because we would be a bad influence on them. Really weird for a school that spent a lot of time and energy on preaching "diversity" and "tolerance."
@@notskipbayless7918 Oh we were ready to fight it. They dropped it because they didn't want to deal with the consequences. Also, we called in my grandma, and NOBODY messes with my grandma. :)
Remember: If you ask a teacher if you can go to the bathroom, and they respond with something that isn't "Yes", piss your pants on the spot to assert dominance. Feel free to add a T-pose for extra flair.
My social studies teacher had a "15-minute rule" one time but instead of not being able to go to the bathroom at the first or last 15 minutes, you could not go UNTIL the last 15 minutes.
Yup this last school year my school implemented the 10 minute policy. So stupid and what’s even more stupid is the one at a time so I have to wait for for other people to go to the bathroom? Ridiculous. And we just have to put up with it. No say whatsoever.
And then the hood policy is just so dumb and a lot of teachers seem to have a bias like they would like girls wear it but the boys will have to take theirs off. Or would be called out first.
I actually got lucky because at my high school we are allowed to wear hats and hoods and the teachers don’t care. I remember the teachers were so strict in my middle school about hats and hoods that on my first day of Freshman year I walked past a bunch of upperclassmen who were wearing hats and hoods and I thought to myself “what are they doing?” Hell there was one kid in my gym class who was nicknamed “Blue Hat” because he was always wearing a blue baseball cap to school. I guess the high school realized there was no point in banning hats or hoods.
All the time I would get told to take my hoodie off because "iTs A nON scHooL jUmPEr" its not like it stood out either just a plain black hoodie with a small nike logo on it.
Our high school had faculty that tried to enforce rules that weren’t in the book. Of course when I realized the teachers were going on power trips, I memorized the ENTIRETY of the school handbook, AND kept a hard copy of it on hand. Hoods was a common thing that those teachers attacked us for, and I sometimes had to wear one due to a bad haircut. So one day, I got annoyed at a teacher who attacked me over it and asked her to show me in the book where it stated hoods were banned. Here’s how it went: T: I don’t have a copy where I can show you, just take it off. Me: Don’t worry ma’am, I have a copy. ~Pulls out handbook~ Can you please show me? T: go to the office. I got in no trouble because I didn’t break in any rules. I guess she also got a talking too, because she never annoyed me about it after that.
Homework was actually invented by an Italian teacher in 1905 as a punishment for his students. After that some demon decided to make homework a thing that all kids should do instead of just having it be a punishment.
Let me introduce the Homework Destroyer 3000 all I need to do is click the button and a Lazer will come from the sky and Target any homework and disintegrate it into nothing. I also have the school buster 2000 and it targets all schools disintegrating them and sends a chip into every kids brain giving them the IQ of 250 or more.
Like why do you need to raise your hand to do a human function like? if you want to go to the bathroom and when they say no it's really annoying because do the teachers really the students to piss themselves?
I almost got detention once for telling a teacher that No, she could NOT just take my phone away from me for looking at it, it's my property. She got mad, sent me to see the principle, he agreed with me (Surprisingly) but said that I still wasn't allowed to be on it, witch I understand. So I still got detention, but I also got a new rule implemented that teachers arnt allowed to take students phones. So ide say that was a win
last year the principal brung all of the classes into the hall talking about how important is water and that you need to drink it, 2 weeks later a kid asked for water and the teacher said no. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I had a massive kidney and bladder infection. My doctor sent a note that i was to be allowed to drink water and go to the bathroom when i needed to. My teacher threw the note away and told me that wasnt going to happen in her class. She didnt want me to disrupt the class. One week later i was back into the hospital. My doctor was angry. He let them know in no uncertain terms that what i had could kill me if i wasnt able to drink and go to the bathroom when i needed to. When i went back i was allowed to do what i needed to do, but she made my life hard from then to the end of the year.
I had a similar situation in 4th grade. I have strabismus/lazy eye and back then had a patch and couldn't see from far back. My eyes don't point the same way and had to have an eye covered so wasn't a matter of just getting glasses. The ophthalmologist wrote a note saying I must sit up front. Instead I was told I had to sit in the back because apparently I was a little energetic ('hyperactive wasn't really as much of a thing then and I wasn't officially diagnosed) so was just the odd kid who causes too much trouble and couldn't sit still that has an eye patch. My dad was furious at the school and when he got mad look out.
7:19 As someone with uniforms, I do envy the people who are non - uniform, as my school has a rule where if everyone comes into class over 15 days (it isn’t a streak), you get to wear non - uniform as a reward.
Bro the uniform sucks ass,I'm in 7th grade and I have a hypocrite as $$ b1tch as my vice principal, she literally is 9/11 about the dress code while the other vice principals dgaf💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
@@LyrLyrPantsOnFyrbro I'm in 7th grade and my bitchy Assistant principal put me on her shitlist for not following dress code I got dress coded for a plain black tee 💀🫳 The only shirts I can wear are my school shirts and polo's. She harassing me about the difference between a polo and a tee ☠️
@@FireShadowPuxx Firstly, solid username. Secondly, I’ve actually changed my mind about this, on non-uniform days, it’s such a hassle getting your clothes out, I can’t imagine doing that every day.
5:52 🤐 As a kid, I learned that NOT talking in class made my school days way easier because the teacher had no reason to be upset with me 🤫 Now as an adult in the real world, I lack the ability to comfortably express myself in-person. I blame school for this pathetic state of being 😡
In here, if you miss a day of school, you are technically missing 7 subjects because of the 7 subjects and the problem (that my mom agrees with) is that to not skip the 7 classes if you are sick, you need to have a paper to prove that you are sick because the "education minister" says so, like IM NOT GONNA WASTE ALL OF MY MONEY JUST TO NOT SKIP THOSE 7 SUBJECTS IM DONE WITH SCHOOL
Funny story. At lunch I forgot to eat and I was talking to my friends, next period, which was math I was starving and I had a stomach ache. My teacher was eating in front of my face and going like “NO.” I am upset with her till this day.
I remember one time when I asked the teacher if I Eat something And she said no while she was eating a McDonald's meal. And then one kid said. Why are you yelling at us for doing what you're doing? You're supposed to be a role model.
My female friend had her period and asked my teacher if she could go to the bathroom but he said no because we had to study for a test. She walked out with a few *ahem* colorful word choices. That class wasn't good for my mental health. I actually had a mental breakdown several times in that class because all of the test and stress i was under.
one time i got hit with the "idk can u?" after asking to go to the bathroom i said "yes i can" with a giant smile and went when i came back the teacher said i had to go to detention but i didnt and went straight home instead and told my parents what happened they said if they were called to school for my "missbehavior" they'd handle it when the principal called my father and asked him if he could come to school to talk about it he hit the with the "idk can I?" the principal was anoyed and my father said "why did u get so anoyed by that, the students have to hear that type of answers from teachers almost daily and u dont give a crap" and hung up
What about going to the bathroom? I had a teacher that wouldn't allow her students to leave unless they raised their hand & asked to go to the bathroom! I had my hand up--teacher NEVER called on me so I urinated on the floor under my desk and she called me "crazy & said I needed psychiatric help" She dragged me to the principal's office & had me expelled!
9:00 Those who had truly Hispanic parents, in my opinion, are those who didn’t get mad at you for defending yourself. I haven’t gotten in any fights to which I had to defend myself yet but they reassured me they’ll actually reward me for sticking up for myself
Hey Burdie! I was watching the stream the other day and I just wanted to say that you handled the situation very maturely and showed everyone that you will not be tolerating that behaviour. My high respect for you went up even more because of this. Thanks for keeping your channel a safe place for all!
My middle school banned water bottles. Students could only get water from the drinking fountains between classes (with the exceptions of gym, choir, and band). I literally had to get a doctor's note in order to have a water bottle in class. And even with the doctor's note, I had 2 teachers on 3 separate occasions try to give me detention for having a water bottle. Oh, and the water from the drinking fountains was just barely considered "drinkable".
@TeardropyandWoodrop when I said with the exception of gym, choir, and band, that's only because those rooms have a drinking fountain in the room. It was common to have a line of over 10 kids waiting for the drinking fountain during and right after gym.
I'd go insane if my school had that rule our water dispensers are barely drinkable I've litteraly thrown up after drinking from it this shis gotta be a health hazard
I literally would rather wait 7-8 hours to eat at home than eat my school's lunch, one you had to pay for lunch and also it was notorious for the quality of the food to be bad, and the fact that things got in the food, hair for example. (they didn't wear hair nets somehow even though I thought that was legally required when doing that.) Glad I graduated just as mask regulations were being discussed whether or not they had to be kept on even after the pandemic.
My middle school banned all colors. We had to wear solid black or white. They try to enforce it down to our underwear and outside of school. Honor Roll students were getting dress code violation slips on Monday for wearing blue jeans when mowing their lawns or playing basketball while wearin red sneakers on the previous Saturday. Or wearing a floral dress to a family dinner on a Tuesday night. One girl's pad leaked and she was expelled when the gym teacher came in, saw blood, and reported it to the principal. I got yelled at during summer break, at the pool for wearing a colored swimsuit by my science teacher, who was wearing, what was basically speedo on him. He chewed me out for wearing pink because "it's a gang color", when the 2 biggest gangs wore black and white as their colors. Heck, they even banned diabetics from getting their insulin and even took their lunches away, if they deemed one part of it unhealthy, but would serve us the greasiest, most salt ladened, fattest foods one could find. My friend nearly died from her blood sugar being too low and it's only because I snuck a bite-size candy, I had hidden, into her mouth that she was able to stay stable and get to the hospital. The school wanted to call the police because, in their eyes, "Anything we don't provide is a drug or a weapon, and anyone who uses or provides it to fellow students, are criminals" and tried to expel me. She didn't tell anyone it was me until we graduated and I couldn't be tracked down by our pyscho ex-principal and teachers, all of whom had been fired the year prior, but still had friends working there.
When i was in grade 3 or 4, my supervisor came in my class and announced “you cannot bring chips in here” and the only way u could eat them is if you buy them and my literature teacher wouldnt even allow anyone to use the bathroom at ALL, plus you couldn’t drink water more than once in her class. this is why everyone skips her class
I was by no means an unruly student but I never asked for permission to do a damn thing. Maybe because I was raised better than that at home. "Oh, think you can just walk out of my class? I'll see you in detention." Yeah, no. You wont. "Well suspension then!" Imagine a hostage situation where the negotiator kills a hostage every 15 minutes if the bank robbers don't surrender. It's that fucking stupid. Homework? Never. The teacher would pull me aside, "I can't help but notice you haven't turned in any of your homework assignments all week. Mind explaining why?" And that's when I would give them the list of (no bullshit and no excuse) list of adult-level responsibilities I had once I walk home, due to the nature of how homelife was, I had to pull my weight and help my single dad take care of my younger siblings. I had no time for unnecessary bullshit. Then they give you certificates and plaques and awards for being a smart cookie (which is really more of an insult to your intelligence in a way)...And then you look at the award and realize that "Mathemathics" is spelled wrong. What the hell is math-e-math-ics? (This is coming from the "honors" math class) "wow it's such and honor to be in your honors math class that you enrolled me in after noticing that my math test scores are on par with "college-level" mathematics when I'm in 7th grade" And after they inform me of this, in my mind it's only further solidifying my at-the-time sneaking suspicion that public school curriculum (or at least the way in which the institution is designed) is not really teaching students much of anything that is actually valuable in the real world apart from at-best providing a very lacking "basic" education, if you can even call it that. Because if a single student out of an entire school is getting test results that put them in the boat with college-level mathematicians in the 7th grade, they're not learning their math skills from that school. And in case you're wondering, no, I'm not Asian. Like I said from the beginning, I did not do homework. I learned that shit from video games. More specifically, violent murder simulators where you have to think strategically. You've got x amount of various ammunition types for x amount of variable types of weapons systems, which use magazines which hold x amount of rounds, divided by x amount of team members who need to be equipped, divided by x amount of weight/load carry capability altogether, once again divided by x amount of bad guys in a simulated combat situation where you gotta go into the building and turn NPCs into a mess of red pixels. Don't let anyone tell you video games are bad. That's bullshit. For anyone who got this far in this post, thank you for reading and I hope you got a laugh out of my rant about how ridiculous my experience with the public school system was. This was late 90s through to 2009 BTW. I actually ended up graduating through a military academy at age 16, which in retrospect I probably learned more from than I ever did from the public school system. As for anyone who may have been offended by anything I said in this post, know that it is purely satire and not meant to offend. Also know that you cannot sue because I have no money, don't show up to court and you can't send the cops to serve me a subpoena because when you tell them who it is that you want them to serve a subpoena to they will say "Nope. Not that guy. Do it yourself." Kids...stay in school.
From what I hear, schools are more concerned about test scores than actually teaching kids new material. You ever see The Wire? That’s what happens in season 4.
2023 update: public school curriculums are still utter nonsense that will never help you later in life. Similar experience to you- I had to teach myself like 3/4 of my current knowledge because all public schools cared about teaching you was “mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.” It’s not a meme or joke, it’s fact. We also had 21st century skills and Financial Literacy courses, and both were an absolute joke. Financial literacy class was basically just 8th grade math, but with a $ sign in front of most of the numbers. I can’t even remember what we did in 21st century skills…
In my case, these rules were more likely in primary school (when I was in 1st-8th grade). but these rules in middle school are more friendly. If you want something, just tell it to the teacher and it lets you doing it (example: drink whenever is necessary, etc.). It doesn't mess with us.
In my college algebra in high school, my homework was worth more than the tests. I'm glad I didn't get hit with the "Homework is for you". Only work given that didn't count for a grade were study forms, and I never did them except for a few problems.
They tried to ban water at my middle school (which just so happen to be the spring/summer of 2022). Yeah they jumped that principal on the last day. Edit: Also the Superintendent (who is married to the mayor) tried to close a store because "kids went there"
For the no phones punishment, in my district it becomes even more of an issue when you consider that there is an app that tells you what buses are sub buses and how late the might be. When you think about it, the teachers are now preventing you from getting home safely!!
Literally at the end of last school year my school locks almost all the bathrooms due to some triflent students be smoking, vaping ,fighting, vandalism, and pooping on the floor. That last one had me like WTF?! To make things worse, they have a tardy sweep, which means you must be on the classroom before thr bell rings because if you arent in class by the time the announce the sweep , you are not allow in and you will be caught by the dean. I swear they just want us to gwt introuble and have detention. Not to mention they force us to use locks on our locker. Now granted it took me time to learn how to use one but even when I mastered it there are like a bunch of locks that are broken and the district dont do sh!t to replace them. We basicallt are stuck with old worn out shitty locks.
Our school had tardy sweeps as well. If you were late during a tardy sweep, it was an automatic Saturday Detention. To make matters worse, my high school adopted a zero tolerance policy on tardiness. If you are late even once, it's an automatic after school detention (Saturday detention if there is a tardy sweep). Before that it used to be 3 tardies equals detention unless there is a tardy sweep. For most teachers tardiness means not being in your seat before the tardy bell rings. However there were a few really strict teachers that took it a step further. Unless you are in your seat with all of your materials out and working on the warm up assignment BEFORE the tardy bell rings, you are considered tardy and will be marked as such. If there is a tardy sweep and you are not already working on the warm up when the bell rings you would be sent to the office even if you were in your seat on time. During senior year, if you have even one tardy, unexcused absence, or even one detention for misconduct, you would not be allowed to go to prom, attend the grad night trip at six flags, or walk at graduation.
When I was in seventh grade some MALE teacher that I didn’t know came up to me and was like ‘I believe your shorts are far too short’ why were you looking at me when I was 11? I wasn’t even wearing anything bad!!!
OMG that popsticle stick one gives me serious PTSD. In last year’s math class, EVERY question he used sticks. I remember being on this difficult question and I was PRAYING that it wasn’t stick #6 (my number) and it FREAKING WAS. I said that I didn’t know it and the whole class was staring at me and he was trying to explain it to me but I STILL got it wrong until he made it really obvious. I wanted to dissolve into the ground. Thank god for my W table partner who completely understood what it was like.
Idk but in my primary school ( school between ages of 5 to 11) we did popsicle sticks for 3 years and it landed on the same person a lot. Coincidence I THINK NOT. Also the person got the question right most of the time so I think my teacher tried to prove she was a good teacher.
Yo, I had a lot of stupid school policies too that were similar to what you had to deal with but to add on in my middle school we always had to raise our hands to throw lunch trash away, have good grades and no fines or whatever for certain events, and etc which were also very stupid rules that made me despise the hell out of middle school. I also want to mention that even parents would probably completely change the subject and say "RuLeS eXiSt FoR a ReAsOn, GeT oVeR iT" if you even mentioned stupid rules which is something that happened to me before and that's also one of the worst thing to happen involving school as well. Anyway, this was a nice video and keep up the good work!
the sad fact is the guy who created homework is not actually an opp, he made it only for troublemakers... teachers decided it was a GREAT idea to add it and fram him for it, man i feel bad
my old school's reason for no phones was kind of reasonable: they wanted us to have social lives outside of our phones however, any justification for their uniforms was so stupid and out of pocket that you couldn't even refute it since it was completely irrelevant
As a 24 year old who has learned how awful being on social media 24/7 is, I understand that phone rule. Having an actual social life with real people is better than doomscrolling TikTok, and the trends that happen on TikTok are insane so I can't blame schools for wanting to prevent that kind of shit.
In my last year of high school, they revised the tardy policy. Instead of it being a per-class period basis, it was now counting all tardies ever. Even being late once was both my parents getting bombed with texts and voicemails every 30 minutes, emails and a letyer home. You know, the "warning" for being late one time. Also punishments had to be re-served. Be late 4 times in a year and it's detention and your parents getting their phones bombed like Dresden in 1945. Again. Be late 5 times and it's 2 days detention. Plus 1 more day. Plus another Dresden 1945 campaign on your parents' phone. After a point, you probably just get expelled, sent to juvie or just flat out noscoped by Seal Team 6.
yeah my school is basically the same but we also have like a structured day thing where you have to walk with a teacher to your next class after like 2 or 3 tardies. like what if you have things going on at home like a family member just fuckin died or you got negative sleep and can barely fucking keep your head above your feet , they still dont care and might expel you because you were late to class bc you overslept again
As a teacher, I first tried to allow students to have food, because I never liked that rule. Every single day, there was garbage and half eaten food left all over the desks and floors. A couple of times, somebody smashed up a boiled egg into the carpet. So yeah, I realized why that was a rule and made it a rule for my classroom after only a few weeks. Much less cleaning up afterwards. Sometimes the rules suck for students, but it would be a nightmare for teachers if they weren't in place.
@@Icecreamqueenthe15th having to clean up after yourself is already a classroom rule. And most students shouldn’t have to be told to clean up sfter themselves
for me the 15 minute rule was 10 minutes. my final exam review guide for Algebra 1 last year had 70 questions on it. my school now allows spaghetti straps as long as undergarments can seen underneath. we now are also using something called E-Hallpass. If you need to go anywhere during class, you have to raise your hand for the teacher to call on you, get out your phone, generate a pass, have your teacher approve it, go as fast as you possibly can because if your gone for more then 10 minutes you’re written up, (as soon as the pass gets approved it’s starts a timer), and your teacher has to check you back in. you literally have to select what teachers classroom your in, and select where you’re going, whether that’s another teacher, the nurse, which bathroom your going to, even the drinking fountain. the teacher can also see the pass on their end. also, something REALLY dumb my school does: if you come into school late in the morning (like my school starts at 7:20 so say i arrive at 7:30), the first time is a warning, every other time after that is a detention. so the pressure is ON not to be late.
Even being 31 and attending Tech school attending my IT classes, the rules have gotten absolutely insane, but thankfully my instructors always try to bend around them as much as they can. The worst for me is not being able to EAT in class, I can't ALWAYS eat at the crack of AM, and without that brain food, I can barely focus on my studying. They just got really strict with the phones too. This is my last semester before I finally start my career in IT, and luckily I just gotta hold out until October.
One of my college professors kicked out a student for accidentally spilling tea in class, but yet the professor brings coffee. I don’t know why the students liked the reason to kick someone out nor acted as if he harmed someone. The room isn’t an IT lab. Besides my previous professor who taught in the same room didn’t mind if we had something to nibble on if we come in on an empty stomach!
My high school chill asf. Reasons 1. Class starts at 9am 2. You can basically wear whatever you want 3.food and drinks are allowed 4.if your late no one cares 5. Lunches still shit but better that normal school food and we are allowed to play outside. (Noted that this is an early college that is literally 2 trailers in size)

In elementary school me and my sister started a movement called CTR (Change the rules) but everyone just gave up after a month because they were afraid of “getting in trouble”.
I had the "phones are off and away" rule in middle school, let alone during lunch and flex (aka recess). If phones aren't allowed during lunch, I feel the schools should at least put up posters with profound quotes or works of art to make them more interesting.
I had that jn middle achool too then my highschool said you could use them in the halls, lunch, before school, after school, before class begins, while you wait for class to end, and during study all if your teacher is chill enough. Basically you can use it whenever but you cant use it if its actually class period and your being taught umless the teacher says you can

It is a basic fact that I shouldn’t have to serve detention if I show up 2 minutes late to class. This happened to me and I was so pissed. Keep up the good work man 👍
Or having to go to detention for self defense, that situation has happened because if I didn’t then I would be in the hospital because they tried to beat me up with a makeshift brass knuckle
@@water6006 you just unlocked an old memory from middle school. Long story short: some kid jumped me and I knocked him out. I got in trouble since I punched him

It really doesn't make sense if you think about it. They get upset when you miss 2 minutes of class because you were a little late, so their response is to give you detention which will cause you to miss several hours of class/school.
@@j.t.03 I know. At my school they do something called “tardy sweeps” witch they give no warning and if they catch you even a second after the bell, you get lunch detention. I had to stand on the toilet to dodge the teacher. School rules suck
This reminded me of a school bathroom experience I had not too long ago. At my school we use this thing called ehallpass. When we use ehallpass you are only allowed 3 bathroom passes a day. Now I alr used all my bathroom passes for the day, I was bored in math (2nd period 🙄) and I actually had to go to the bathroom the other 2. But, I was in 8th period English, when I asked if I could go to the bathroom whilst I had no passes left. The teacher said no. I told him “Mr … it’s an emergency!” He fucking hesitated. That pissed me off beyond belief. It was an emergency and he hesitated and called another teacher to see if he could let me go use the bathroom. Edit: thank you all so much for 40 likes. This is the most I’ve ever blown up 😋😋
My highschool has a lot better rules. Hats and hoods ARE allowed. You CAN defend yourself (cameras at every doorway) First/last FIVE minutes we can’t use the bathroom. We CAN eat in class (most teachers allow) We CAN have our phones with us, normally away in our backpack or pocket or if the teacher allows us, face down on the desk, plus we can during lunch.
This is why iam so happy I go to a small rural school there’s so much more laid-back and you know everyone since you were like five and you can talk your way out of anything almost
When I was in high school and was late, I never got shit from anyone, at least from administrators, teachers though, that’s another story but it wouldn’t be enough to send us to detention. One thing I hated about high school though is they expected us to like the careers options the school gives us. The only classes I enjoyed were Woodshop and Automotive Mechanics, those were the classes I not only signed up for but also they are the classes I have an interest in.
I had to get a doctors note for the using restroom during class and drinking water from a bottle in class during highschool. Holding it in made my bladder hurt a worrying amount and my mom realized that those rules put kids risk of a UTI and potential bladder incontitence in the future. The teachers she talked to enforced the rules less strictly for other kids because one teacher told me that mom talked to each of them and that the principal realized that he didn’t really want to argue with a critical care nurse, who could explain in explicit detail what bladder pain and damage was like. (She also took care of elderly people at one point, I imagine the inspiration for points in that conversation stemmed from that experience.
once at my old school a girl was two hours late because their mom died and they were at a funeral, and they were told that they needed to go to the office for being late. they told the reason and the teacher didnt care. then i moved schools right after
Fun fact at my school back when i was 14 they invented a extra detention rule which said for every minute you are too late you have to stay in an one hour detention as soon as the minits add up to 60. That was because i always (and i mean every day) got to schoon abt 10-15 mins too late because i was basically living on my own and lived next to the school which made me always say 'ah no worrys ill be there in time' til it was too late. The rule was for my whole year and the year after us.. because of my late ass💀
I remember throughout elementary school, we had to take our hats and hoods off indoors. I call bs on that. Like if the heater weren't running in the winter, I would immediately put my tuoqe/beanie on. I wouldn't care if i put it on. In high school, thankfully, it's not enforced

My third grade did that now that one was true
middle school was absolute hell, i was getting bullied and they did nothing about it, blaming stuff i did 2 damn years ago, constantly treating me like shit, and they told me "good luck in high school cause you'll get locked in a room alone if you continue this type of behavior"
guess what ? my high school years are the best years of my life since primary.
the worst part is, my brother is still in that school, and told me the teachers continue bragging about how i was their worst student blah blah blah bruh get a life
Elementary and middle school teachers were out here saying things like "That's not gonna slide in High School!" Next thing you know I'm in high school now and it slides.
There was a fire drill at my school and a kid in class got a hart attack but he didn't die thankfully (also they didn't tell us there were a fire drill so it scared him)
At my school sometimes they took it away for the whole year
Well that’s straight up theft! Don’t know how it’s possibly legal for schools to do that!
Yeah and that is what happen to me
We had a Science teacher who let us eat in class and drink in class and draw in class and no one appreciated her. Which is just sad. She was an underrated teacher.
W teach but l students for not appreciating her
W Teacher. My Pre-Algebra teacher is also quite laid-back. Sometimes, he gives out snacks as a reward for good behavior, usually on fridays. We also got to watch a movie on a half-day because the other Pre-Algebra class wouldn’t have the class that day.
I understand why this type of teacher is decrease because of students
I feel bad for her.
She must've been a nice teacher.
Exactly. We had the same damn rules
When I was in 10th grade in high school I had to do 70 Math problems in one night my math teacher was ruthless when it came to homework
Yea, my professors don't care much either

One of the things was about hats and hoods, and it was a question asking “Can you tell who these people are?” and displayed a few staff members with half of their faces covered.
How tf am I supposed to know who *staff members* are? Furthermore, most people don’t obscure half of their face with a hood, so don’t tell me that it’s a “safety precaution”.

After I graduated, they made a school wide rule that no one was allowed to interact with the ESL students because we would be a bad influence on them.
My middle school was mostly chill with hats. I wore a black baseball cap everyday. Sadly my high school wasn’t the same.

Your parents are amazing for sticking up for you, there was no reason for that teacher to give you detention
W father
Wait, you have a father? I’ll have stuff that did happen for 1000, please.
My school lets US go but it hás to be like IF 1 or 2 persons are on the bathroom we have to wait for them to come back.
Same btw who is excited for Mortal Kombat 1 coming out in 9 more days?
My school has a super strict dress code
Like goddamn, I have to tuck my in
And I’m literally forced to wear the school uniforms
What about going to the bathroom? I had a teacher that wouldn't allow her students to leave unless they raised their hand & asked to go to the bathroom! I had my hand up--teacher NEVER called on me so I urinated on the floor under my desk and she called me "crazy & said I needed psychiatric help" She dragged me to the principal's office & had me expelled!
It was her fault!
Yeah teachers say raise you hand but never call on you
Expelled is crazy thats a terrible teacher

My middle school banned water bottles. Students could only get water from the drinking fountains between classes (with the exceptions of gym, choir, and band). I literally had to get a doctor's note in order to have a water bottle in class. And even with the doctor's note, I had 2 teachers on 3 separate occasions try to give me detention for having a water bottle. Oh, and the water from the drinking fountains was just barely considered "drinkable".
THEY LITERALLYKILLING THE CHILDREN
What if you thirsty in class?! It's nice to have a water bottle during gym
@TeardropyandWoodrop when I said with the exception of gym, choir, and band, that's only because those rooms have a drinking fountain in the room. It was common to have a line of over 10 kids waiting for the drinking fountain during and right after gym.
@@silverstreak227 oh...
Oh, that's bad. I hope your friend is fine!

(This is coming from the "honors" math class) "wow it's such and honor to be in your honors math class that you enrolled me in after noticing that my math test scores are on par with "college-level" mathematics when I'm in 7th grade"
And after they inform me of this, in my mind it's only further solidifying my at-the-time sneaking suspicion that public school curriculum (or at least the way in which the institution is designed) is not really teaching students much of anything that is actually valuable in the real world apart from at-best providing a very lacking "basic" education, if you can even call it that.
Also know that you cannot sue because I have no money, don't show up to court and you can't send the cops to serve me a subpoena because when you tell them who it is that you want them to serve a subpoena to they will say
"Nope. Not that guy. Do it yourself."
Kids...stay in school.
Okay class, it is mathemathics time!
From what I hear, schools are more concerned about test scores than actually teaching kids new material. You ever see The Wire? That’s what happens in season 4.
Yea
2023 update: public school curriculums are still utter nonsense that will never help you later in life. Similar experience to you- I had to teach myself like 3/4 of my current knowledge because all public schools cared about teaching you was “mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.” It’s not a meme or joke, it’s fact. We also had 21st century skills and Financial Literacy courses, and both were an absolute joke. Financial literacy class was basically just 8th grade math, but with a $ sign in front of most of the numbers. I can’t even remember what we did in 21st century skills…
Oh my god I needed to hear this
In my case, these rules were more likely in primary school (when I was in 1st-8th grade). but these rules in middle school are more friendly.
Edit: Also the Superintendent (who is married to the mayor) tried to close a store because "kids went there"
Why did they try to ban water? That's so stupid
Facts bro,burdie never misses🔥
@@mohammadayubkhan999 dang
My answer: WHAT reason? 🤓
the sad fact is the guy who created homework is not actually an opp, he made it only for troublemakers... teachers decided it was a GREAT idea to add it and fram him for it, man i feel bad
my old school's reason for no phones was kind of reasonable: they wanted us to have social lives outside of our phones
however, any justification for their uniforms was so stupid and out of pocket that you couldn't even refute it since it was completely irrelevant
As a 24 year old who has learned how awful being on social media 24/7 is, I understand that phone rule. Having an actual social life with real people is better than doomscrolling TikTok, and the trends that happen on TikTok are insane so I can't blame schools for wanting to prevent that kind of shit.
School is ass
Ok 👌
@@drawelad More like a giant waist of time.
The main problem is that it can be hypocritical, so as long as you're not eating while saying that they can't, it's alright.
You can at least make a rule that if you eat in class, they have to clean up afterwards

It is a basic fact that I shouldn’t have to serve detention if I show up 2 minutes late to class. This happened to me and I was so pissed. Keep up the good work man 👍

My highschool has a lot better rules.
Hats and hoods ARE allowed.
You CAN defend yourself (cameras at every doorway)
First/last FIVE minutes we can’t use the bathroom.
We CAN eat in class (most teachers allow)
We CAN have our phones with us, normally away in our backpack or pocket or if the teacher allows us, face down on the desk, plus we can during lunch.
This is why iam so happy I go to a small rural school there’s so much more laid-back and you know everyone since you were like five and you can talk your way out of anything almost
as someone that has school coming up, i can confirm that this is true
When I was in high school and was late, I never got shit from anyone, at least from administrators, teachers though, that’s another story but it wouldn’t be enough to send us to detention. One thing I hated about high school though is they expected us to like the careers options the school gives us. The only classes I enjoyed were Woodshop and Automotive Mechanics, those were the classes I not only signed up for but also they are the classes I have an interest in.
how is this guy alarmingly relatable

0:26 here is the perfect comeback from that just say yes i physically can
I had to get a doctors note for the using restroom during class and drinking water from a bottle in class during highschool.
(She also took care of elderly people at one point, I imagine the inspiration for points in that conversation stemmed from that experience.
once at my old school a girl was two hours late because their mom died and they were at a funeral, and they were told that they needed to go to the office for being late. they told the reason and the teacher didnt care. then i moved schools right after
That is pure evil
Fun fact at my school back when i was 14 they invented a extra detention rule which said for every minute you are too late you have to stay in an one hour detention as soon as the minits add up to 60. That was because i always (and i mean every day) got to schoon abt 10-15 mins too late because i was basically living on my own and lived next to the school which made me always say 'ah no worrys ill be there in time' til it was too late. The rule was for my whole year and the year after us.. because of my late ass💀
I had a sub in 5th grade who gave students including me for arriving barely late.
like dude why can’t I defend myself and they tell you to tell a teacher and when you do they pay ABSOLUTELY NO ATTENTION AT ALL
I remember throughout elementary school, we had to take our hats and hoods off indoors. I call bs on that. Like if the heater weren't running in the winter, I would immediately put my tuoqe/beanie on. I wouldn't care if i put it on.
In high school, thankfully, it's not enforced
