Thank you.😊 This particular "Codd" is from a partnership which died within 4 years - Hiram Codd partnered up with a guy called Dan Rylands (son of Ben Rylands). So this bottle is dated between 1881 and 1884 and known as a "narra-neck" basically this patent 4 has a narrower neck than the later Codds. Thanks for your comment and all the best.👍😊
@@diggerpaul1981 cool information. I have a collection of bottle digging magazines which I may, given time, film. Articles on collections etc . I prefer to be outside in the field so to speak.
I get what you're saying - absolutely nothing beats been outside in the fresh air searching for history, however, sometimes after a day out searching, I really do like to put my feet up with a nice coffee; especially after a productive day.
This type of bottles are still used today in Japan, in Ramune bottles!
I still don't know why they haven't changed the design, but it's kinda make it stands out than the rest, that's for sure
It's such a cool bottle that I felt bad shooting one to get the marble out, I have several modern ones as wal-mart sells them now.
Great vid… interesting origin of “pop” and ingenious idea-Love it! All the best!
Thanks, Johnny, there's a bit more to it that I actually explained but I will do that on one of my other digging videos, kind regards.

Good video mate I didn't know that's where the word pop came from 👍
Thanks Dan. Yes even us Brits use to call 'pop', soda.
I didn’t know that people called sodas “pop”. That doesn’t make any sense. Good to know though.

Still don't understand what tghe marble is for. Will it come out of the bottle, if said bottle is at the correct tilt??
Also where the phrase a load of old codds wallop comes from, lovely little narrow neck that mate.
I was gonna try and get a get a Codd bottle opener and do another very brief video about "Codds wallop"
That’s a beauty 💚
