Love this! Definitely should be hot with the beginner crowd because, as usual, you've managed to teach without judgement and sneak in some super useful protips. I never would've thought of that paper towel thing!
Would be so awesome to a quick video on behaviors. When they feel threatened, getting upset or are content and so on. Thanks for another great video Garrett.
Thanks for another great video. You make a great point about the paper towels. I never thought about the fact that they could tear a piece off and swallow it during feeding.
Awesome video Garrett. I'm anti paper towel substrate myself for those exact reasons. Paper for quarantine and cypress for everyone else works for me. I use pricey reptile spray so I'm also curious about your mixture for mite prevention spray. Thanks.
this video is extremely helpful, it''s be my go-to for any new snake! I was at the steel city expo today and was blown away by the quality of your snakes! I really wanted one but I had a $100 limit haha! I've used paper towels with my bearded dragons, never with snakes, and I don't think the work well with any lizard either! They can tear a piece when eating insects and one of mine got bored the other day and decided to rip up the paper towel! Thanks for all the help, I'm glad to know I have a great local snake source!
Glad you pointed out the paper towel thing. I'm going away from it for my bearded dragon because I have had to pull paper towel out of his mouth before he could swallow it while I was feeding him bugs. He did just as you said and accidentally got a corner of the paper along with his roach.
Hi Garrett, recently discovered your channel, through Brian Kusko, Brian Barczyk... amazing content! sooo much helpful advice, i recently purchased 2 baby ball pythons(for a future first time breeding project) and have been using paper towels for their beding :-( after viewing this episode you can be sure i will be switching to newspaper, thanks for all the valuable info
Mr. G, you are like really great, knowledgeable, I'm old school, never used anything but unprinted Newspaper!!!!!! I do use some sub for my slightly larger snakes.
Just a tip with the news paper ...my local paper co. Will give u any left over papers from the day before (they always have extra) and they can't sell an old paper so most of the time they will give them to u for free.
Thank you so much, always used paper towels never knew how dangerous it could be😲, love your hides they are so cute and inexpensive winner winner tofu dinner😉, and agree setting up an animal is just that you do what the animal need in the end you have a happy healthy new friend which bets any decor or flashy trash you can set up. That's why I had a problem with Beta fish I hate seeing people treat them like knick knacks. Great tip thank you ever so much for sharing and best...Also that babe you used for an example was adorable 😍😍😍
This is what I do before each snake. Never a mite issue. I get deli cups & add a river rock so they don’t dump it. People always want “fancy”. I really want health!
Just got a boa like 4 months ago and I’m already considering getting a Het anery Super Dwarf retic at the end of the year for £190(England) I’m not sure what locality it is but it’s coming from a reputable reptile store so I’m sure I can trust them on if it’s super dwarf or not.
Often times stores get them from breeders, and re-sell. Be sure to ask as much about the background info as possible, ESPECIALLY if you intend to breed.
Love that Packaging 100% , one day I see myself opening one of those SD beauties from ROR , after I am done building my specific collection 1st . Or soon they can buy a cage from me cause mine are solid like vision cages on steroids built to suit and 100% plastic and awesome , all my babies are happy AF . Can’t wait to hook up with another shipment of plastic , Future of Gorilla Tough Caging systems Peace out ✌🏼, I pop my hides in the same exact direction basically
I recently ordered some tub liners recently, not because paper towels tare, never thought of that. I went to liners, just recently, like came in yesterday lol, because the snakes just push the paper towel into the center lol moves too easy.
Your branding is amazing. From a graphic design/marketing perspective, you’re among the best for reptile content creators I’ve seen.
Love this! Definitely should be hot with the beginner crowd because, as usual, you've managed to teach without judgement and sneak in some super useful protips. I never would've thought of that paper towel thing!
It can cause some serious issues, for sure...
This channel should have a lot of subscribers! Keep sharing guys! Love this channel so much!
Feel free to share your favorite videos as well! And thank you very much!
Would be so awesome to a quick video on behaviors. When they feel threatened, getting upset or are content and so on. Thanks for another great video Garrett.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll put that on the list!
Thanks bro! I had no idea about the paper towel issue, definitely changing my ways immediately!
Its a life saver!
Yeah man me neither.....
Very simple is the way to go. I like it. The paper towel part is extremely important for new keepers to understand.
Yes sir!
Garret, this is so awesome! This is what I'm going to use when I get a retic from you. I'm stoked to learn all this from you!
Another great one my friend. As always we appreciate you sharing your experiences and wisdom. Take care and happy 4th!
Thanks!
Thanks for another great video. You make a great point about the paper towels. I never thought about the fact that they could tear a piece off and swallow it during feeding.

Hey Garrett, how about a free tip Friday about treating a snake with a full blown mite problem? I’m interested to see how you would handle it.
Good idea. Stay tuned!
Mr. G, you are like really great, knowledgeable, I'm old school, never used anything but unprinted Newspaper!!!!!! I do use some sub for my slightly larger snakes.

Keep it simple. Great info!
Thanks!
Your videos are excellent!
Thank you very much, Michelle!

tofu dinner, lol. love it!

Fancy is OK, until it gets to the point of compromising your ability to care for the animal well!
Needed this last friday :P
well now I have to go home and change the paper in my QT rack... my new Retic is sitting on paper towel :(
Day late, dollar short. Hope it helps now!
That setup looks just like mine. Paper is the way to go and dollar store hides.
What's your mite mixture?
It's called Permectrin II- I'll do a full video on it soon.

Great info Garrett, thank you! Curious as to what your mite spray mixture is? Those sprays from the store can be pricey
Called Permectrin II, will do a full video on it soon.
I use the same baskets as hides
lol, they are great!

Awesome advise like always! What do you use to pre-treat for mites? I see you prepare your own and I'm curious.
Its called Permectrin II, I'll do a video on it soon.
Thanks! I think it is the same compound find in Nix, isn't it? I'll be patiently expecting your video! Thanks again!
Where do u get the white news paper??
I recently ordered some tub liners recently, not because paper towels tare, never thought of that. I went to liners, just recently, like came in yesterday lol, because the snakes just push the paper towel into the center lol moves too easy.
I like those, too.
Do you have a separate quarantine room or just a separate rack?
I use butcher paper with my ball pythons. Do you think thats ok?
James Nelson As long as you're able to keep the humidity up!
Yup. Just use the absorbent kind, not the shiny stuff.
great tips that i will have to use on snakes other than sd retics!! 😡
Absolutely! (and then you can buy some SDs from me when you're good and ready). ;)
i am ready . i meant because i live in nyc!!
