Ikr. Definitely the most cursed god by far. The epitome of “everyone I loved is dead.” From what I understand to is people tend to just assume her age. She is the manifestation of lightning alongside her sister who was probably the loud diplomatic thunder. In other words there’s a chance they also were always around, not as old as Zhongli necessarily but all cards are on the table since we don’t know their ages and it’s possible they were always just gods who just were kind of around prior to the Archon war. Basically, it’s possible she is almost as old as Zhongli and in that case would have lost a twin who she’s always been with since her birth for 6000+ years
I don't know if it was intended or if it's just me because my head simply expects his voice for this kind of character video but I got a really strong Dainsleif vibe from the narration. It added so much to the beautiful art and animation, fantastic work!

Every single part of this truly hits me. Seeing kitsune Saiguu and Makoto .. im gonna start tearing up. This is so beautiful. Many people say Ei is overrated (in a hot way) but in my opinion people who truly know a lot about her are just different people. This just makes me relate to ei a lot, even though I’ve never have experienced loss. Her emotions all tied up relate to me. The lore needs to be spoken out about. During Ei’s story quests i started crying. I love that hoyoverse added some sort of angst lore, it’s so deep and hits me. Inspiring really inspired me myself. This truly is amazing.
*Honorable mention:* All of her friends died in battle, the one thing Ei had dedicated herself to mastering to prevent such a thing from happening. Just imagine the overwhelming feeling of inadequacy on top of the depression of losing everyone she cared about.
She also comments that she had always cut down any threat to progress...and then the nation most associated with progress (Khanri'ah) kicks off that events that lead to the death of Makoto and Saiguu while exposing her to just how Celestia responds to progress (likely actually the abyss but without being sure, would you risk your nation and the people who depend on you?). Everything she has fought for has come to naught at the hands of a threat she knows she can't face in battle.
I know hoyo shows Genshin as a lot tamer than say Honkai for example but I really do wish it had some dark elements like this animation because I really love how beautifully it tells the story from the bittersweet moment of Ei with her friends and just how horrible things were for her when the war happened.. the emotions this 3 minute animation made me feel was more powerful than the game did during Inazuma's story which just goes to show how amazingly well made it is thank you to all the talented people who put together this animation and sharing it with the world :)
Damn the music the animation and the transition especially at 2:37 it's so well executed. It hits right in the feels when we see ei crying with the music going on and her friends being slaughtered. Truly a beautiful animation one of the best genshin fan animation in my opinion.
It's upsetting how such an emotional and relatable backstory didn't have any time to shine because how rushed the Archon Quest was. Now many people assume Raiden has the worst-written story.
Honestly you give us everything we want to see in the game during cutscenes. This is so much more touching than how they tell the story. I'm on the verge of tears
I've read the backstory of Orobachi and it's comrade too, they are just as beautiful and loving as Ei is. The Mouun sisters, the general that bath under the moonlight together with the sisters and the sacred magical whale. But all 5 of them all died in the war against Ei while Ei only lost her general Sasayuri. The other 3, which are Makoto, Chiyo and Saiguu all died at pretty much the same time because the Heavenly Principles wage war upon Khanrea. So I'm pretty sure when the MC fought against the Heavenly Principles, Ei will pretty much be the vanguard of the operation.
This video shows every Ei went through it's sad so many people don't know Ei's story and why she became broken. Ei watched all her friends die in front of her own eyes. Makoto died in Ei's arms in Ei's story in the character screen it says Ei often thinks about the days when she was with her friends and Makoto under the lone Sakura tree. While she meditates showing that Ei misses everyone she's Lost and the pain keeps eating away at her. Ei is such an amazing character I wish more people would try to understand Ei and why she is the way she is
REAL?? We need more Ei content like this. Her entire story revolves around the five stages of grief, and namely, denial. Eternity and the fear of change are such intricate themes in her story that I wish Hoyo had explored upon slightly more and that the fandom would look more into. Overall, I just wish her writing was given more attention(yes, the writing of Inazuma at the end did feel rushed, but there is so much more to Ei than simply that which occurred in the Archon Quest.)
@ScaraLoreRambler I wouldn't say the writing of Inazuma was rushed it's just that unlike the other regions Inazuma's quest line can only be fully understood if you go into Ei's story quests and look back. I like that style of writing because it requires the audience to actually pay attention and then take what they've learned and look at the past events. Ei is the best written Archon in my opinion cause the grief she has is so human.
@@kingflame6588 AHHH SRY, didn’t word it correctly, I mainly just meant the conclusion (subjectively, imo) felt like it just needed to be fleshed out slightly more if that makes sense? And I think sadly because of that, for many people, it also, in a way, reflected on Ei’s writing as well. But I completely agree on Ei’s writing being good. Many people view her act of isolating herself as “childish” and though I suppose it could be viewed in such a light, it was far more than simply an immature decision. She was stricken with grief and fear, fear of the time that was still slipping through her fingers. She didn’t feel safe in that ever-changing world, and felt as thought all would be better if someone unaffected by time(a puppet) could lead Inazuma in her stead. Yes, though this act did result in consequences-many, at that-it was a selfless choice rather than selfish/childish (as I’ve seen many people say) imo. She condemned herself to forever be trapped in the realm of her conscience(both literally and metaphorically), capturing that moment of grief so that it would forever remain the same in her heart, so that she could forever still remember her own ideals. Sry, my wording is terrible and there may be some misunderstandings, but my main point is that I completely agree with you, and I wish more people would discuss this side of her character.
@@ScaraLoreRambler we See a little bit when Ei appears events we get to see her reminisce about her times before she Lost Makoto. The issue is Ei you have to dig to fully understand her compared to the Nahida and furina and the Pryo Archon . Everything you need about them is kind of presented to you via the main quest so you didn't have to do any digging to understand them.
@kingflame6588 Yes, I do agree. I adore characters where you have to look more into their story before you get the full picture (ahem, prime example being how I love Scara with my heart and soul but we ignore that). I love how her story is scattered throughout the perspectives of others, her teaser, the archon quest, her story quest, and so much more. It really does encompass her theme well, that these memories/events in her life will always be eternal yet are only ever fleetingly shown in obscure places. Life only grows all the more ephemeral the more you seek for it to be frozen in time, and that is a tragic conundrum in Ei's story. Djwjxnsx guys Ei>>>
Thank you for the hard work, you did great with the representation of Ei's backstory It really hits with the feels.. It gave me chills especially the way you made the scenes more realistic from what I've imagine of what happened to her once again thank you for this godly animation and sorrowful backstory

I need to search some lore videos so this could hit me not like a truck but a mountain. Even only knowing what must be 5% it's clear this is phenomenal visual story telling. Thank you for your art.
This was beautiful! As a of of the other comments are saying, this was such a huge piece of Inazuma history, and gives a lot of insight to why Ei is the way she is. Sasayuri's death was absolutely incredible, the horror of Ei's face was stunning. The fight with Ei and Chiyo was heartbreaking. The look on Saiguu's face when she dies was too. And the way she cried out while holding Makoto was just perfect. You really captured Ei's internal and external battles perfectly!! I feel like she'd be liked a lot more if people knew the full extent of what happened to Sasayuri, Chiyo, and Saiguu, since we only see Makoto's death in the game. Even if we have the trailer, we don't have the emotion and intensity that this animation showed. Huge applause to everyone on the animation team, who did background art, and to Hanabi for the voiceover!!!
This is my favorite program among all. Amazing animation, very beautiful scenes and lively charas. Raiden's feeling and tears really gots me. Art is about emotion, and you nailed it. Thank you for the 2'59'', I'm crying like a river now.
I literally get shivers everytime I get to the part where everything fell apart, just after the fireworks. You're an amazing animator and never let anyone tell you otherwise!
Eternity without them is just a nightmare for her, and she has to go for it, because this belief is all she has left. She doesn't want anymore loss, change, but the only thing in this world that remains eternal IS change... Poor her. I hate her because of wanderer but I also don't, cause archons go thru everything we do for eons and they just take much more time to recover.
This is truly a masterpiece. Underrated for sure. Beautiful scenery, magnificent animation,I wish this was an official animation. Hoyoverse needs to see this.
Just saw it on genshin birthday show! the animation style is amazing! Also the story telling part and the music is one of my favorite during the show! Nice one bro!!!
I'm not crying im just... cutting onions. This is honestly so beautiful. The sound of Raiden's theme with the rain is beautiful and that moment with the firework dear lord shivers.
As raiden main, I have to say that the animation was very emotional and sad. Ei, is a very human character, who suffers, makes mistakes and loves, and yet, with a burden as great as it is to govern and protect an entire nation as they goddess, does what is possible within its limitations and its prolonged suffering. Fortunately, in the current lore she herself realised that she is not as lonely as she believed, but that there are beings who really care about her like Yae, who from what we saw is able to move heaven and earth to get her out of her own mind, and we all know that when we are bad, we ourselves can be our worst enemy. Yae avoided that Ei, blinded by his pain, would make an even greater mistake, which would be to continue harming inazuma unconsciously without him realizing it. Many may think differently, but to me, Raiden Ei is the best archon and one of genshin's best characters in terms of development and personality.
0:43 I love the tengu friend he looks so cool! 1:11 and also the way he and the oni friend interact reminds me of Sara and Itto Rest in peace Ei's friends

This is definitely my favourite part of HoyoFair
I know hoyo shows Genshin as a lot tamer than say Honkai for example but I really do wish it had some dark elements like this animation because I really love how beautifully it tells the story from the bittersweet moment of Ei with her friends and just how horrible things were for her when the war happened.. the emotions this 3 minute animation made me feel was more powerful than the game did during Inazuma's story which just goes to show how amazingly well made it is thank you to all the talented people who put together this animation and sharing it with the world :)
This is why Ei is my favorite character in the game
I come back to watch this every now and then. Still one of the most beautiful things I've seen. And I get watery eyes every single time.
It have two whole story quests dedicated to it, plus the backstory was the finale of the archon quests
The whole team did a fantastic job! This is certainly a work I will remember for a long time. ❤
I dunno why but I always come back to watch this.
this animation always sends chills down my spine
Not just chills, i feel like tearing up..
You can't blame her after everything she's been through.
I too would be extremely broken if that were to ever happen to me.
Thank you to everyone who brought this to life 🙏
this had more emotion that the whole inazuma archon quest
The final fireworks with the song tunes stopped, there is where my tears bursting out none stop...
Djwjxnsx guys Ei>>>
as a shogun main; i will eternally memorize this short story.
and every scene worth captured as wallpaper
THE FIREWORK SCENE STILL BREAKS ME NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I REWATCH
Thank you for the hard work, you did great with the representation of Ei's backstory It really hits with the feels.. It gave me chills especially the way you made the scenes more realistic from what I've imagine of what happened to her once again thank you for this godly animation and sorrowful backstory
No matter how many times I watch this, I always end up crying
Thank you...thank you from the bottom of my heart...
HOW IS THIS A FAN ANIMATION?!
IT'S SO GOOD BUT SO HEARTBREAKING AT THE SAME TIME
10/10 WOULD CRY AGAIN
Came here from hoyolab's festival to subscribe. The artwork and sound design is just perfect and well done. Made me cry from how emotional it is
Bro, you know were you touch... Good work, so delicate and sensitive, thank you to share and make this
I saw this on the hoyo app a bit ago and this is still in my mind days after. The narration, animation, music, all blend together into this timeless piece of art
War isn’t about who’s right or wrong; it’s about who’s left and who’s gone…
the firework scene is a masterpiece
this was beautiful!!! it was really nice seeing Ei with her old friends.. so much feels 💜
I need to search some lore videos so this could hit me not like a truck but a mountain. Even only knowing what must be 5% it's clear this is phenomenal visual story telling.
Thank you for your art.
情緒が狂ひ悶えるゥ‼︎(褒め言葉)
素晴らしい作品です。涙が出ました。
That was so emotional and spectacular. Incredibly well done.
I'M NOT CRYING YOU CRYING
this is so good! it's so heartbreaking and brilliant at the same time
thank you so-so much for your work!
雷電真の周りの人達の生前の姿も描いてるところとか泣かしに来てますよ…😭
Truly beautiful and moving, such an amazing depiction of Ei's backstory. Thank you!
I loved how you added Awake From a Nightmare song in this it just made it super better! #10/10
This short is a beautiful animation that portrays Ei's past and its ups and downs. Happiness and depression. Thank you for this incredible work❤
I'm not crying- you're crying
the most beautiful animation of genshin i have ever seen
I think we can all relate to looking at a moment of happiness among friends, and wishing it could last forever
I'm not crying im just... cutting onions. This is honestly so beautiful. The sound of Raiden's theme with the rain is beautiful and that moment with the firework dear lord shivers.
I teared up watching this, it's so beautifully made. I love her so much.
I love this so much. Thank u for making this
I am so in love with this omg😭 I love her lore and character development ugh
I cried omg... this is so well made!!!
I got full body chills, this is a masterpiece.
The animation is PHENOMENAL, excellent work of art!
0:43 I love the tengu friend he looks so cool!
1:11 and also the way he and the oni friend interact reminds me of Sara and Itto
Rest in peace Ei's friends
What is the name of that tengu guy?
@@-Stoic- Sasayuri I believe
@@Kai-715 thanks
I think that Tengu is a girl 🤔
@@mamasitas3566 no its a boy
Made me shed a tear. This animation is so beautiful!
my favourite one from the hoyofair, it is so beautifully done and got me a little teary :,)
The most painful thing in the world is , the time you spend with others or memories become memories.
Man…This hit hard… What an impeccable and spectacular piece of animation!
my heart is hurt, this is sad and beautiful at the same time😢
Это шедевр! У меня мурашки по коже и хотелось заплакать 🫠
what an angsty beautiful video.. I always sympathy to Ei, because imagining how can she survive in eternity with all that grieving.. and she finally got a closure after we finish her story..
she's just fictional character but this video always make me cry (been the 4th time since it released)..
This is the epitome of art, thank you so so much
IM NOT CRYING GODDAMNIT YOU ARE.
Did this make me cry? Yes definitely! It's so beautiful, thank you ❤
