I'm just confused on why they let him behind the plate. I remember seeing a video of him being put at third base and doing a pretty good job there. There was a play at third that lead to a bunch of players stuck at thid base and Angel put everyone at the correct position, and called out the right player, while the other umps were pretty confused. He seems to have a pretty good understanding of the rules and can keep a calm demeanor when everybody else is freaking out. His main problem is the fact he's a flincher behind the plate, he literally doesn't see whats going on because he's too scared to look at the ball coming in 90mph+. So the dude just guesses balls and strikes and gambles on the 50/50, knowing damn well he won't get into trouble for it because the union protects him. MLB, MLBPA, and the union need to come together to either ban him from being behind the plate or just straight up fire him. At this point its just ridiculous

If the collective bargaining agreement protects Angel Hernandez, then that agreement cannot be renewed as such. Any further agreement must not protect terrible umpires.

The worst call for me was when Hernandez was 1st base ump. A fly ball to deep right field caused two outfielders to chase. They almost collided so each pulled up and the ball fell between them. The runner on second was screaming around 3rd when the 3rd base coach saw Hernandez signal a catch!! He sent the runner back to second but he was thrown out before he could get there. Of course, there was no catch just a game totally fucked up by this idiot's bad call.

MLB shiuld have counflter sued Hernandez for fraud. His obvious missed calls are just that. The MLBPA should be taking the Umpires Union to court over Hernandez and other bad umpires impacting players' stats and thus potential pay. The human element is great in sports, for the players. The enforcement of rules should be as consistent as possible. Games should not be decided on human skill issues or an official's bad blood.
Im for robo umps because the people in the know reporting on that have stated many times that they have tested both in ear all calls and tap the head only challenge robos, the mlb is going to go with challenge not all calls, SO the human element will still be there, that wont be gone, just when an umpire blows a bad call the batter or pitcher can tap their helmet and the call is then challeneged and shown on screen and reversed or stands. Exactly what i want. We have the technology to check and reverse bad calls, and the way its gone in the minor leagues, its a pretty quick procrss so it doesnt drag out games, and its not taking the human element out of the umps hands, its just saying "thats wrong, check, yeah thats wrong"

I’d like to carry on having human umpires but only on the condition that they be held accountable. If a ball player doesn’t perform, he gets demoted to the minors. It’s nothing personal; it’s just what’s best for the team. Well, if an ump routinely messes up, he too should get demoted, as that’s what’s best for MLB and the fairness.

Yes was a union man for 38 years. Unions are the reason why we have universal health care, paid vacation leave, paid parental leave and many other progressive policies and programs in my country. Union won these for their members first and then voters said I want those as well and voted that way. To call the Umpires union a union is an insult to actual unions.

this first batter thosen were strikes it were the ball crosses the batter knee and plate were the catcher caqtes the ball doesnt matter those crossed the plate and boke 4 to 6 inches were it was caught off the plate i aim not saying he hasnt made bad calls but these are pros that dont protect the plate there leaving it in ump hands thats the big problem swing the bat and hit the ball
