      Hi thank you so much! Good question! I actually used 2 small eye hooks and screwed them on the top edge of the sign. The underside of my porch roof is tongue and groove and I hammered two nails into the roof. Then I just twisted some thin metal floral wire around the nails and down to the eye hooks on the sign. It’s pretty invisible. I use the same wire through the seasons to change my porch signs.

    I used the magic cover brand of contact paper for my stencil, when I pulled it up it left a sticky residue on my board. Any suggestions?? Thank you

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  4 года назад

      Hi. I haven’t had that happen but have gotten a few comments from people who have. Im not for sure why but I think it is the types of paints. Some do stick better to contact than others. I like flats and chalks, sometimes satin. . they don’t stick as well to the adhesive. You can also de-sticky the contact paper on a towel or cloth first. You can seal the stencil edges with mod Podge or paint before stenciling to reduce bleeding if you desticky first. Hope that helps!

    Shoot, I thought I heard you say the board size was 16 x 14, that's what I bought, can you recommend what size font should I use fir this size, thank you.

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  4 года назад +1

      That’s ok so sorry! If you are using a 16x14 board then I would use a 3/4” wide edge for the frame. A good size for the entire “stay awhile” would be about 13.2 x 11.26”. That would mean the “STAY” letters were 6.647x11.418” (font size 659) and the “awhile” is 5.768x13.2” (font size 430 - 450 depending on font). I kinda squished the stay letters together. Hope that helps!

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  3 года назад +1

      Hi! I think the script font was Frutilla and I think Creative Market might still have it. The sans font was something like Mongolian Baiti and should already be installed on your computer.

  • @crystaljohnson5010

    Can you explain or show how you fasten the eye hooks, they aren't visible on your sign, & then u put nails in the ceiling, can u explain. Thanks

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  4 года назад

      Yes I place them into the top edge of the board. They are small and not noticeable. You can also screw them in at an angle downward on the back of your board until they lay almost flat. I’ll try to post that process in a video. I have shiplap wood on the underside of my porch ceiling so I just drive in a couple nails or hooks and hand the wire from those.

    • @crystaljohnson5010

      Christy Cain - The Appalachian Home what size eye hooks do u use? I think I let the black paint dry too long, it pulled away more than just the letters on my first try, worked fine on my second one, but I pulled the tape & letters up right away. Thanks

      @@hairgirl1970 Hi the piece of wood was 20.5" wide x 19.5" tall (should've mentioned that in the video :/ ). The size of the STAY letters were 7.6" high and a total of 13" long. The size of the "awhile" was 6.6" high and a total of 15.1" long. Also I think you asked about the Mongolian Baiti font I just checked and it is a Cricut font.

    Hello, I don 't know the language. You probably explained in the video why you paint in letters first with white paint. Write please

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  5 лет назад

      Hi! I paint first the white because it takes less coats of paint to paint black onto white than white onto black. If I had painted black first, it might have taken 4 or 5 coats of white to cover the black. I was trying to save some time I think, but really you could do it either way. :)
