WOW. I have 20+ years of experience using Reason. I have never even noticed that tuning icon let alone learned how to use it! Today i am MINDBLOWN. Thank you sir. 👏🏽😮😨🤯
You probably haven't been looking closely enough or paying attention. Hopefully this video opens your eyes and you are effective in 2024. All the best wishes mate.
The tuning advice was dope, didn't know that. But I was disappointed that he didn't build up a 808 drum set inside of Kong. Seems like those hip hop guys always want to use samples.
Dude thank you because your method is way more efficient. If you do it his way and you click to bring focus on the Kong to play the kick with your MIDI keyboard then the audio track's tuner information disappears and only stays there if you keep focus with the audio track and click the kick on the Kong with the mouse button. It's not a big deal and I'm on the latest version of Reason 12.7.3d18 but I don't know if it's a bug or an oversight on their part.
@@thedrunkmonkshow do you use multiple screens? If so, move the Gtune to a different screen than the reason rack and make sure the vst is always on top (option next to screenshot function) and you'll be good
@@EdeP79 Yeah I use two monitors and that's what I did by moving it to my other monitor, clicking the thumb tack so it wouldn't disappear and then it was off to the races. 😃

THE REC-SOURCE BUTTON!!! THIS WHOLE DANG TIME… ALL THESE YEARS …😢 … This could have saved many recording sessions .. having to use Logic X when I didn’t want to.. I’m sad and happy at the same time
im not an 808 Addict, but your tricks to get perfect pitch bass drum, with just kong and mimic on Reason Studio is just phenomenal ^^, i usualy using KONG alone by itself and tweeking a lot to get some kind of Simmons sound and i usualy use Mimic to extend some Brass or other orchestral sound to make them more playable stretch all i can get from it, for making wierd granular stuff. for my kick and sub bass drum i usualy using the Rob Papen Rack Extension like Punch or Sub boom , sometimes i put a bit of Linn Drum or E-MU stuff with a mix of TR 909 or 808, it's not rare for me to use more than one drum modeling or sample stuff.
Bottom line is, if it sounds right to you then it is right. Using sound bank or making your own...it is up to your creativity and whatever the song needs.
All-dough you did a nice job, I still don't feel the 808 in there. The 808 is more then a sound, it is a feeling. And getting it close is not good enough! Even Reason had a better 808 feeling, because those were actual 808 samples.
Type this in the YT searchfield: "808 in reason" and you'll find at least 100 808 Tutorials from Subtractor, Monotone, Europa, Thor, Mimic, samples to Refills and Rackextensions
I created a 808 on reason 10...Then I got high and forgot how to do it. I came hear to re-find it and realised I'm using reason 10 and not reason 12...Stay in school kids!
Seems like this guy is the best teacher... How can I get more content, like this?
Man been using Reason my entire life never occurred to me the way you used the Tuning option. Great tutorial and tips.. Very simple and easy.

Great for tuning your guitar, before recording.

How great is this guy?!
Salute you my bro!

All I got to say is that boy Chris Reed done it again. This was brilliant!
Nice video, I did not know that you could record the master like that.
I have the free G-tune vst hooked up to my master to instantly see the pitch of all the samples I'm playing at that time

Thank you for clarity and for providing us with a much shorter route to creating the 808 sound .
Wow. You are a beast of creativity!!! I have to watch all your videos. Cheers! 🎉
Great one Chris as always
Thank you guy. I tuned my 808 and feeling more confident. Thanks for these tutorials! ❤
Chris is the GOAT. Nice video
yeaaaah !!! BAM what a nice tutorial!! can't wait to see more tutorials !!!!
Excellent video bruh
This is a very useful video! Cool 808 sound!
Very cool ideas! Long live the 808, 40+ years of vibrating subwoofers 🤖🔊
great tip on the pitch bend ramp
cool brooOOOoOoOOo 😎
Don't forget the good ol NNXT and even NN19 can also serve as your sampler for those who haven't upgraded to v12 yet
Yes indeed, I'm an NN-XT aficionado hahaha
My boy Chris almost shed a tear for that 808 🔥 hella gems in here thanks bro!
Thanks 4 Sharing 🙏Best teacher and a very respected producer in my eyes!!! LEGIT!!!
yes @chrisereedbeats thanks! 808 looooong life
Show🔥🔥🔥
Love it. Fire 🔥🔥
Nice design and good look on the audiomatic tip
Bravo, job well done! 🔥
❤ love it.
fantastic vid - thx heaps for your clarity and deep knowledge
Never knew about the tuner inside of the sequencer!! LOL I always wondered what that little magnet icon thing meant lol
Your beat is fire too! The 808 hit fasho. especially after your effect chain.
My man ....thank you for this amazing video ❤👊🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great Video
Very clever! Thank you.
Mimic automatically can adjust the pitch.
What do you nmean?
@@trackmasters65 you don’t have to pitch it to C
This is true, although it is not always perfect (you know, low frequencies and all)

I made a trap 808 with Melstrum, and Scream 4.
nicee
Awesome video. A lot of people sleep on the Kong Drum and it’s capability’s
Wow been using reason for 10 years and I had no idea there was tuner built into the channel strip lol. No more clunky vst 🎉
I pitch use detection in the nnxt

Can anyone explain how he recorded the audio and turned it into a wave file at 3:07?
You have a link for one on one teaching
Hey, which snare is that? Where would you find one similar?
happy to sse you in my e-mail box ... thanks reason.
what drun did you start off with in kong?
BRO THIS IS DOPE💥🌡🏁
can you do one for drill beats ?
Thanks Chris, never noticed the tuner tool before. How long has it been there? 🙂
Is there an advantage to making an 808 sound from scratch and resampling it vs. using one of the sounds from the sound bank?
Bottom line is, if it sounds right to you then it is right. Using sound bank or making your own...it is up to your creativity and whatever the song needs.
Can you do a tutorial on raggae music
@5:39 It sounds distorted is how it sounds now.
1st Like 👍/ Oooo them 808’s
❤🔥🖖🏾
💯👍💯👍
I need that custom maelstrom patch no 🧢 😂😂😂😂
no sound coming out the audio track...
Might be a noob question, but I followed the steps and my drum sounds very low volume wise in comparison.
Me using europa to create every sound in my songs: 👁️👄👁️
Thor is also a good One for 808
All-dough you did a nice job, I still don't feel the 808 in there.

First like and comment 😅
This is the easiest way to create 808s in reason? Seems really complicated for a new user.
Type this in the YT searchfield: "808 in reason" and you'll find at least 100 808 Tutorials from Subtractor, Monotone, Europa, Thor, Mimic, samples to Refills and Rackextensions
It is an easier way. You can also noodle around with the Monotone Bass and get a fairly thumper of an 808.
I created a 808 on reason 10...Then I got high and forgot how to do it. I came hear to re-find it and realised I'm using reason 10 and not reason 12...Stay in school kids!
Be me. Use reason about 20 years and never know it can show tune
This is a really basic look at 808 creation in Reason.
Subtractor or Thor might be better suited for this job
Melstrum with Scream 4
Any synth really, even Europa
Жирный 808...)
Now I know what not to use.
(:
All this work for a stock sound bruh? I love Reason but got damn
Stock sounds you dont own and cant sell in a sample pack. Make it yourself you own it.
if you made the sound it's not a stock sound now is it?
