I don't know how any 'normal' voice could ever handle this song - but what k.d. did here is beyond incredible. Just perfect.
Any artist on the planet would be only too happy to have KD Lang cover their songs. Her treatment of Joni's 'Help Me' is phenomenal. What a great band too!
I just turned 53 and I can say without any doubt that K.D. is the greatest vocalist of my age group.

I saw her many many years ago at the palace theater in Waterbury ..up there on stage with her bare feet. when she sang Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen , you could hear a pin drop and I hardly could breathe. Beyond amazing.

I've loved Joni Mitchell for 50 years, and to do this live and actually enhance the fine nuances of the song is what defines the word artist and then some in my humble opinion

When KD sings other people's songs - it's as if she is the other singer - some notes, cadences, intonations are so perfect - her duets are the same, they sound as if one voice is singing....

I saw her in concert in Florida in 1997. When she sang "Crying" she brought the house down (and everyone to tneir feet!) Amazing voice.

Slowing this tune down and with K.D.'s timing, fireworks! It finally hit me I might find K.D.'s version on You Tube; haven't heard it since the original broadcast. Joni Mitchell bowled me over, but K.D. put the cherry on the top with this tune.
I just heard k.d.'s version of Help Me for the 1st time a few days ago on Pandora and it bowled me over too. I think it was the first cover of a Joni Mitchell song that I really really liked almost as much as the original. Incredibly good and even Joni appeared to think so as the video shows near the end.

unfucking believable vocals........Miss Lang is a great singer, everyone knows that....But here.....it´s beyond great.....Man, this is singing......this is singing for ya.....The incredible Joni Mitchell must have had a heart stopping moment there for a while upon hearing such beautiful vocals on her own song.....And, needless to say, Joni Mitchell is a genius and a wonderful singer....But I would guess that even she herself was amazed by this incredible singing..
K.D. does an excellent job and the band sounds great. K.D. Lang is a lady with very strong vocals. Joni Mitchell created this song before I was even born, but I went and found the album anyway. this is 1950s/1960s music. Flower Children and Woodstock stuff. Nice work K.D.

"Help Me" reaches deep into the soul, bares the emotions and intellect down to the nakedness of Truth. Let's dig what "Help Me" explores: how infatuation, love, romance and sex and that hardest of choices -- freedom -- make us feel at different times in life. k.d.'s feeling it!

I agree that her voice is like a slice of heaven... I don't think any other voice I have ever heard sounds as pure, sweet, celestial and yet earthy as K Daddy sings! Listening to her quiets my soul, stirs passion in me, melts my heart into a puddle, and makes me weep at times. If there is a k.d. lang, then there is a heaven, for she is PURE BLISS.

Yeah I agree with Heart of Glass. Remember a good cover isn't about replicating a song but providing an interpetation of it. This cover is phenomenally good... much in part because of the arrangement. Even though it's an elaborate production it still carries a lot of emotion.

You've been slated for these comments, but I'm with you! This performance has totally over-slushed Joni's original, which to me emotes the feeling that when you're falling in love you're giving yourself totally, and you're frightened of the outcome. KD doesn't get any of that across at all - it's like any other slushy love song. If this had been the original, it would have disappeared under the weight of myriad other love songs like this, rather than lodge in my heart & mind forever like Joni's.
