That's exactly what happened. I was there when the battle took place. The crowd and judges did not deserve the talent that turned out that year, they had no idea what they were watching. The judging was so bad, I left. Black shirt was Mike Watson, something of a hometown legend at the time in Atlanta. He had a habit of trash talking his way into battles, then getting smoked by elite poppers. They made him a judge the year after, alongside the likes of Aqua Boogie, which is ridiculous. White shirt is J-Rock, from ABM, who remains a popping legend to this day.
A little comedy in ya routine gets the crowd pumped. Both were excellent dancers,, but Boogaloo took him with a few slick moves that appealed to the house.
wow been a while since ive seen this one..haha..i still believe watson{boogaloo} deseved the win.he had the variety over rock.freaked the beat just as well and yes he entertained.popping is such a huge umbrella term with many shades of movement ..they both were popping and theyve both gotten better since then. respect
@FreshNoobDancer I'm sorry, but the fellow in the white shirt is not the same Mike Watson that I have seen in other videos going up against Salah and others. This style was more similar to Damon Frost, however that was not him either. This guy is from Chicago, Mike and Damon are from france. Sorry, wrong people. this person is anonymous, we don't know his name.
is that OUR Jrock from' the trailer park boys'?? Can't be.. but ima lookin close and can't tell... I suggest y'all look at the wigger on that show... He played a great part...
@00Mixsta00 i agree boogaboogaboo was just dancing to dance, idk how he got to the final round. it looks as if the first part he tried, then just gave up and like you said tried to entertain the crowd. jrock wins.
@00Mixsta00 I don't agree, the guy in the white shirt was doing a style from the Midwest, a hitting pop style, called cutting. He didn't boogaloo, that part is correct. It was a different style, mostly a created variation of the many different forms and styles of popping a form of creative animation. Even what I do is much different from what U R seeing, u may never have seen it done this way. No two people should look the same way.
@SirPopaLock Im allmost sure about mike watson.. search for mike watson vs legend.. I think your talkin about Iron mike from france and Damon frost is from sweden, he lives in stockholm right now..
@hiphopbaiyan741 I agree, they should not have called what he did boogaloo. He was doing a different style that is from the Midwest. It is creative. Many dancers would create moves that R crowd pleasing. That is the way we did it old school. What U see is a one of the many variations of popping, boogaloo is not the only game in town. Take it from an old school pioneer. AKA "The Dazzler"
@wesjes No that was not Mike Watson, sorry. He is more similar to Damon Frost, But not him either. This guy never left us his name. He's from Chicago, both Mike and Damon Frost are in France. you can see the major difference in their moves. Are Mike and Damon's moves the same? No, he has his own signature and style. one thing for sure, Mike and Damon do not Boogaloo either, they each have their own style. Even I have my own style, I'm "The Dazzler"
Jrock's the better of these 2, but both are entertaining. Back in1984 you had to know someone to learn, but now anyone with money can become a master, lol. The best I ever saw was fromback then. Michael Kane from Senn high school, but he did the tick, and made it 3-D. We didn't have money for video cameras or anything back then. The best popper was Chui Alfaro from Gordon Tech. Hutch and Daddy-O from Jesse White's dance and tumbling team had 3-D animation made of small ticks.
@00Mixsta00 is right it wasnt popping, but you got to admit in this battle he probably would of won because of the crowd. he sure does know how to dance though.
@dingomanzero You are right in some ways dingo. I would like to see what you got so i can judge for myself what is it you called the guy in white shirt a NOOB! Boogaloo is just one of the many styles of popping. If you can dream up the move and technique, you can do it with style, that is the key, as long as it feels good and looks good. I respect all styles, just keep on getting down.
bro that crowd was soo slanted... jrock ripped.. yeah wanna be bogaloo had some nice moves.. but he didnt even bogaloo..duck ahhh..JROCK got my respect...
@TheNicoxxxxx here is the thing, Jrock is one of the legits in the world, all you know is Salah. Salah is great, but he is also one of the best. Besides, what the fuck on earth do you mean both of them are trying to imitate Salah!? I am telling you this, if Salah see your word, he will really be said!!
I think this battle should be named style vs move. Jrock showed boogaloo style in his dance, while boogalo showed some dance moves to move the audience.
man for a guy named boogaloo i got to say his strobes are nice and ticking did ok but hardly any boogaloo done in this video. to name urself after a dance style and not know how to perform it. its like my name is breaking but im going to tango. makes no sense and the crowd unfortunatly as well as the judges didnt understand the differnce
is Jrock even hitting lol see the thing is boogaloo didn't look good either but dude was fun to watch. man wtf is this jcock and friends got away with bull shit back in the gap
@wavedelta lost respect for him? he was defenately right. the other dude was just doing moves for the crowd and no boogalo no style no nothing...jrock was right and he deserved to win btw. peace!
I love this, I'm 52, i can watch this all day long
It was 13 years since this been played. Like it
Black shirt looks like he's doing the same moves over and over, white shirt killed it
That's exactly what happened. I was there when the battle took place. The crowd and judges did not deserve the talent that turned out that year, they had no idea what they were watching. is that OUR Jrock from' the trailer park boys'?? Can't be.. but ima lookin close and can't tell... I suggest y'all look at the wigger on that show... He played a great part...
BOOGALOO IS A BITER!
Thats for fun, what they do !!!
Keep practice ....
@00Mixsta00 your totally right, but you know how life is, if you entertain the crowd you win.
I like Boogaloo, I pop since I was 11 Jayrock style is earlier, Boogaloo style was later.
boogaloo killed him wit the strobes
was this at Breaklanta? If so, I believe I was in the audience. Looks like a familiar battle. I've been to many so I can't remember, lol.
boogaloo reminds me alot on old salah i liked
@00Mixsta00 i agree boogaboogaboo was just dancing to dance, idk how he got to the final round. it looks as if the first part he tried, then just gave up and like you said tried to entertain the crowd. jrock wins.

@hiphopbaiyan741 I agree, they should not have called what he did boogaloo. He was doing a different style that is from the Midwest. It is creative. @00Mixsta00 is right it wasnt popping, but you got to admit in this battle he probably would of won because of the crowd. he sure does know how to dance though.
@snake0928 Both of these guy are way older than salah, and you can tell salah got much of his style from watching folks like Boogaloo.
Boogalo did not say that he has clean Jrock off of him without saying it!?
@Pisztu Lets not ignore the cocky attitude in the beginning ;) hehehe
Jroc got served. Bottom line.
@dingomanzero You are right in some ways dingo. I would like to see what you got so i can judge for myself what is it you called the guy in white shirt a NOOB! Amazingly Salah is still a step better!!
waaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww...!!
On what style is this particular battle? Cause the guy named boogalo doesn't seems to boogaloo at all. No funk nothing just moves after moves.
That's not Electric Shrimp Boogaloo is it???
I think this battle should be named style vs move. Jrock showed boogaloo style in his dance, while boogalo showed some dance moves to move the audience.

Boogalo нефига танцевать не умеет,делает только одни фишки и всё,ему надо в фокусники подаваться,а вот Jrock реально танцует,он был лучше.
