How fantastic to know your instrument/music so well that when something like this happens you don't get flustered, you just go with it! Loved it!!!!

    for those who would like to try this out,the left hand goes
    Cm-Fm7-G7-Cm-(on the last beat, of the 4th bar, play a B major chord on top of a G7 chord)
    Improvising with your right hand, you could either play the C minor harmonic scale, of the C blues scale. Have fun :)

      And the last chord that finishes the song is Cm(M9)

      Its because most people dont learn music like a Language. They learn it by rote, by positions, and its very limiting. Once you realize that music is a Language, you can speak with anyone else who knows Music that way.

    • @clarehernandez2172
      @clarehernandez2172 8 лет назад

      It's true.. I wish I could go back in time and totally re-learn everything like this. Slowly trying to implement some improv training but it's so hard once you get accustomed to everything written on paper for you.

      @clarehernandez2172 8 лет назад +1

      Not sure if you're asking me or not, but honestly it just takes doing it! That's the cool/awful/frustrating thing about it 😂 I used to have a teacher who would just play bass chord progressions sort of like in the video, and I would have to improv a treble melody. I find it so hard though.. but the only way to get better is practice.

    • @jakobfunk9099

      Allan Googe Please do! This has a very Tom Waits-Esque kinda feel to it, but traditional jazz can be really flooring. As far as jazz piano, check out Bill Evans, he's a fantastic jazz pianist and brings me to tears all the time. Just an incredible soul and brilliant improviser, some of his best work is honestly just him sitting playing solo on his piano.

      Nadim Khan for an Ab7 add 13 chord, you need to add the F for that extra dimension and feel to the chord. So the chord is built up as follows: #F C F or #F Bb C F for your left hand, you can simply play Ab in your left.

    The most beautiful thing of playing an instrument really is that you first can express yourself in a way you can't otherwise, and you can speak this very understandable fun language with strangers.

    That two dudes can meet over a piano and play this sort of music is truly outstanding and thrilling.
    Fuck all those passing by with their busy busy lives. Their loss.

    hey i worked our the chords, but the notes he plays makes it unique, so the first chord is (d,f#,c) for four beats. then (d,f,g,b) for 2 beats, (d,f,g,d) for two. then (g,c,eflat) for six beats, then (bflat,eflat,g) for two. then (gflat,bflat,c,f) for four, then (gflat,bflat,c,eflat) for two and finnally (f,g,a,b,e) for two. thats the intro. then he just changes between (c,eflat,g) for eiht bars, and (d,gflat,c) for eigt bars. .

      +Ingvar Baranin In jazz and blues piano you learn everything in chords and patterns, so improv becomes significantly easier! I was trained as a classical pianist for 11 years and I'm currently 3 years into learning jazz and blues. You instead need to practice reading instead focusing on notes, so you could write a song using G7, Cm7, stuff like that, then improv your right hand to whatever notes are in those chords. Hope this helped!
