    19 here, I quite literally have NEVER found someone my age who likes or even has ever listened to Zappa. I quite literally will never get why people don’t love the zapp like it’s the most beautifully composed music maybe ever

      I think it’s because you can’t just try a little bit of Frank, and then get back to it later… you have to jump in, stay in, and stay focused on what’s happening!! And in my case start studying his work. One of my older friends always played Zappa, but would turn it off when I got there, because he thought i wouldn’t like it! 50 albums and videos later, i ended up teaching him a lot about Frank!!😁✌🏼🎶Frank it up!!!

      Here is the thing about Zappa
      At 19 in 1979 I was a huge fan and guess what? My friends thought I was nuts.
      Being a ZAPPA fan suggests to me that you have an eclectic taste in music not swayed by the mainstream music.
      Consider yourself blessed and don't waste any time try to "sell " Zappa to close minded people.

      You have a point. How to compare Frank's musical contribution with his son's incredible effort to learn and keep on playing Frank's music?
      I hope that he shows us some gems that were never popular or even known by most fans. Now that, apparently, all of his works will be published after Gail's death. What a gal!

    • @andrejdamis7263
      @andrejdamis7263 8 лет назад +6

      +John Hamilton that's a joke, right? Without the Dweez, the music would still be alive. Don't really see anything badass about him, to be honest. The whole show lacks eyebrows, and Dweez never striked me as a great thinker, satirist or someone with a sharp wit.

    • @andythomas706
      @andythomas706 7 лет назад +7

      John Hamilton: Only partially correct I'm afraid. The best thing Frank created, by a million miles, is The UMRK Archives! Which unfortunately is now in the hands of utter muppets! He should have left it to The Smithsonian! Gail Zappa has a lot to answer for! She blew it big time!

      In my opinion Dweezil is doing a great job with playing close to FZ's incredible guitar sound. The rest of the band on the other hand sound like they are just playing sheet music. FZ had some extremely unique and creative people in his bands, Dweezil should do the same and care less about playing all the right notes.

      Frank might understand and appreciate Dweezle's admiration for his music. But I would think his advice (if he ever offered it) was " find YOUR voice and put it out there". Nevertheless, it's a good thing that Dweezle is sharing his dad's music with younger people who may not come across it otherwise.

    You don't know how much I appreciate this, to have a live, contemporary rendering of Frank's genius. I've been around for awhile, but didn't get into Frank until maybe the last five or six years or so, so I never saw him playing live, except from past recordings, of course. And to see it live, as it's happening with GREAT musicians is just a sight to behold and a gem to put into my box of priceless experiences. I knew of Frank growing up, but I was more of a metal guy, so didn't venture out much, but since 2000, when I say the music died, at least for me, RUclips has been a blessing. Since I've rediscovered Frank and gone deep into his catalogue of genius, I've binged. It takes me about 3-4 months to go through his 80 recordings (and RUclips live gems), but when I'm done, I just start over again. Thanks Dweeze and God bless you all. RIP big guy. Love!

      I was fortunate enough to see FZ live three times; twice at the Uptown in Chicago '80 & '81 (including the panty quilt tour), and lastly at the Tower in Philly in '88 (on Valentines Day!). It was great every time, especially the last, Frank really played with the audience that evening.
      All that said, Dweezil is the closest it gets and heir apparent. They do have the benefit of an immense catalog and all the recorded arrangements from which to draw, but to pull it all off so masterfully is the best tribute to FZ I can think of. I think he'd be pleased.
      Of course the icing on all of this is the improvements in how well it's all captured and presented, even since the 80s. The fidelity of the mix and video are astounding by comparison. It's comforting to know Frank's musical legacy is in good hands.

    I've had the good fortune to see Frank and Dweezil play many times. Frank and his various bands were wonderful back in the day when he was considered eccentric by many pros and fans. Even so his music was timeless and perfect. Dweezil and his various bands play Frank's music, but with a cautionary twist. It's not note for note, and it shouldn't be. His son is interpreting Frank's music with flair and dignity. I've seen ZPZ 12 times all over the world with many different cast members. This is as good as it gets folks. Seeing them, just like Frank in small venues up close and personal is magic. If they ever come to your town..... See them at all costs! Carry on ZPZ!

    What a great concert. Frank, may he rest in piece, must be proud of his son. I have seen almost all Mothers of Invention concerts in Copenhagen since the late 60's and Dweezil lives up to handling that hard legacy. Sorry I missed his last show a month ago here, but I hope they will come back next year.

      GREAT GREAT LINE UP of songs . Basically all of One Size Fits...
      Last time in San Diego, saw Dweezil play the entire Apostrophe album. At the House of Blues it was a great concert. Many of the same players from this video which was cool. My favorite Sheila she plays keys, then grabs a saxophone and belts it out and then, sings, to boot!

    Saw Dweezil and Co. on the "Hot Rats" tour.
    What an extraordinary night. Dweezil is the real deal.

    this is amazing. i did watch listen Dweezil long ago, and honestly it did not feel very much captivating, at the time.
    at the time of this recording, is has been over 20 years since Frank has gone, and Dweezil, still in his footsteps and I must say, he has grown into the giant character of his father. absolutely stunning.
    such a boy, following the father footsteps, relentlessly and with such energy and pride. he is such an amazing person. i am truly astonished by his endevour. fantastic to see. the world is just so much better place, with Dweezil out there. thank you so much Dweezil !

    Our local guitar hero who everyone wanted to be friends with so they could pick his brain LOVED Zappa. To a 15 year old in the late 70s who worshipped EVH, I really/really dreaded listening to Zappa. This guy told me it was over my head, complex, hard/impossible to explain, funny but intelligent.. He was RIGHT. Jump to 2023. Now 60, I find Zappa's music interesting, like chocolate/ mint dipped oysters with a dash of grinded up packing styrofoam.
