- Join me on my journey of replicating an original 1890s Walking Dress from @metmuseum (The Metropolitan's) collection, paired with some cosy snowy B-roll footage, as we very rarely have lots of snow in my country.

I love how people always feel the need to apologize to Bernadette whenever they do something modern in their historically-inspired sewing😂💜 I also say a small apology to Ms. Banner every time I sit down at my (very modern) sewing machine with a regency gown or a Medieval shift! lol Alas, my hand sewing is still quite poor and no one is going to be looking at my hem anyway.
This came out fabulously, btw--I am in constant awe of your skills!
Hahah right! I just so clearly remember her saying that she absolutely hates serged finishes. So every time i serge an edge I hear Bernadette saying that in my head 😅🙈 but thank you for the compliment ☺️
I WON???? I’m in Texas and we are experiencing a “winter storm” that is probably normal to everyone that lives in cold places but we haven’t seen temps this low in 30 years. I haven’t had internet for about 5 days. I won! I’m so shocked and excited!
Congratulations!! I hope you and your loved ones are safe! This week’s weather was also a first since I believe 60 years or so
Glad to see I am not the only one who sews with a tv show on.
The filler shots of snow and wind take me back to my childhood.
Reminds me of a "swallowtail" butterfly!
😂
Amazing craftsmanship!!! Beautiful.
Thank you ☺️
I keep coming back to watch this video over and over. Not only is the extant dress a looker but your execution and end result are stunning!!
wow, just the braiding alone is enough to kill me.. its all so beautiful😍
It is so lovely. The Rusian braiding seems like a very fiddly job - but so worth it!
It was indeed! It just didn’t seem to end😅
Even with the issues you mentioned at the end, the final outfit is gorgeous. Yes, I can see where a couple of bones would make it even better and such, but it’s still very good as it is.
Yes, I think the extra petticoat I wore on set made my skirt rise up a bit higher and thus pushing the bodice up
Such a weird bodice design, but I love it!
uhhhh the details in this walking ensemble is delicious!
Wow! That is a LOT of practice behind all the skills involved in that outfit. Much respect.
Thank you 😅
Watching this this afternoon is the best medicine - I needed it today. You make everything look so effortless. I know that it isn’t but you do it all so beautifully. Such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for inviting us along for the ride!!!
Awww thank you so much! I hope you feel better soon❤️
I totally agree, EFFORTLESS!
That is so exciting to be an extra in a documentary. Beautiful work.
Another beautiful dress. I just love your attention to details!
It’s beautiful, Lee-am!!
Gorgeous! Your attention to detail is so wonderful.
So beautiful your skils are amazing!
Thank you ☺️
What a wonderfully complicated pattern...you are truly a mistress of your craft . This outfit is the most remarkable piece of skilled sewing that I have seen you do. Brava!!! Take a bow. :)
Thank you ☺️
Just. Wow.
😅☺️
Wow! Your skill is just amazing!!
Thank you 😅
Wow! Just WOW!
I'm so impressed with this make, with the complicated bodice shape and the intense Russian braiding.
You will be even happier with a bit of boning, that's true, but you should be SO VERY PROUD of this glorious make.
Oh my stars... the way you just put that together, it's like a choregraphed dance. The finished outfit is just gorgeous. Well done you!
Thank you ☺️ also now I wanna go dance 💃🏻😅
Wow, just wow! That bodice is super intricate & I love the meticulous tailoring you did on it.
Thank you ☺️❤️
Ah, your work is always so exquisitely executed, just beautiful. Thank you for your lovely video. I think I will stick to hand sewing Russia braid!
Oh wow! What a fantastically-constructed dress. It's so interesting seeing your process.
You've done a beautiful job on this ensemble! Such a complicated design and tbh, I am so impressed by the deep smooth hem. I think 2 inches deep, and looks like it had a piped braid added as well, which could have ended looking quite bulky in that fabric. I'm impressed!!!
Ah thank you so much ☺️
Stunning! Just stunning! You are an amazing talent.
This is beautiful! I love the grey and navy with the gold braid, it makes me think of my boyfriend, he’d adore this and could pull it off
Hahahah thank you 😊
Just seeing the picture from the museum, I thought it was very original and nice looking, but not quite my personal taste. But seeing it on you at the end just really sold it to me and now I'm in lovewith it! Very lovely ❤️
Absolutely stunning! I really enjoyed your video making in this one too. Im not sure it's very different than your usual videos but I noticed several times how much I enjoyed it. Thank you!
Thank you so much ☺️ I try to improve with every video! It also differs if it is a full on Tutorial, costume build or vlog
Such a lovely project!💕
Thank you ☺️
The amount of work you put into this seems more like anything I've seen you do on this channel so far (even more than the purple gown). It looks really amazing! I hope you can fix those few things that bother you still, but even if you can't; it's beautiful and you wear it so well!
this is amazing, the braiding details are gorgeous and the bodice in general is so well made!!
Thank you ☺️
This ensemble is gorgeous! And the video lovely edited. You looked magnificent as a extra, congratulations!
Thank you very much ☺️
You do exquisite work! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching ☺️
Congrats to the winners and your followers! 🤩👏🏻💯 and that’s a gorgeous dress!
This is completely stunning, the detail is incredible 😍🤯
This is incredible, but I desperately need the pattern that turns your storage bin into a badass storage ottoman
This is one of the most amazing things I have seen! (I'm sure you have heard the old story: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! I saw the photo of the dress and just stuttered to a stop! It seemed impossible. Yet, one step at a time, you did it. Astonishing and wonderful.)
Thank you ☺️
It turned out so pretty! And your russian braiding! So good! I want to try that, even if it looks a bit tricky.
Thank you ☺️
Beautiful!
This is the most remarkable project! I don't believe how complex that bodice was. It turned out so beautifully!
Thank you ☺️
All of the fine details in this dress that you added elevate it to a whole new level. Wonderful work!!!!
Thank you 😊❤️
Very lovely! I think it is my favorite of the outfits you have shared - and thank you for another wonderful video.
Thank you for watching ☺️
Thank you for watching 😊
Wow - looks amazing! I love it - especially all the braiding.
Wow, gorgeous. So much work.
This looks beautiful. There is such a lot of detail in this outfit.I think your right bones might help it sit a bit more even ,says me who has not made a dress for many years lol!..You sew beautifully and pay attention to all the little details that makes a garment special.I am glad I found you as I do love to see the beautiful gowns not only made but worn too.🥰
Thank you ☺️❤️
Wow, what a complex bodice to tackle!
You did an amazing job! It is gorgeous, really STUNNING!
Thank you very much ☺️
Wow, that is an amazing job. That Russian braid trim 😱 but you handled it like a boss. The whole outfit looks so good on you, and it's for a documentary how fun. 😍
Wat een prachtige uitvoering! Zoveel aandacht en vakvrouwschap. Ik volg zelf een opleiding bij Meesteropleiding Coupeur (worstelworstel) en ik weet precies hoeveel vakkennis hier in gaat! Leuke shots in Dordrecht, my home town!
Your work is always incredibly beautiful
It is a marvel, just so beautifull😍
Thank you ☺️
Oh my God, you are so talented! The dress is beautiful and you probably were the most stylish extra in the documentary :D.
Thank you ☺️ I was surrounded by lovely and smartly dressed folk ❤️
@@Leeam dreamy😍!

Ahhh, I clicked on the video because pretty dresses and sewing content are great to wind don after a hard day and it made my evening so much better.
I am going to finish watching the video now, because I am very excited for the finished dress!♡
Congratulations 🎉❤️
Good luck on your spencer!
@@ragnkja thank you! I am so excited ♡

This is superb!!! Your craftsmanship is amazing 🤩 Love your channel 😍😍
It's so stunning! Absolutely gorgeous. Your work really paid off - those details! 😍
Thank you 😊
All that braid! Worth it, but oh my how fiddly it must have been.
Hahah yes don’t recommend doing it with a tight deadline 😂
I suppose the braids act a bit like cording
Cela est magnifique. Vous avez un talent incroyable.
Impressive!!
💫❤❤
I just found you from your 20 questions with Noelle video. This is lovely and I have subscribed
Admiring your meticulousness again! Such a pleasure to watch you movies while hand sewing ☺️
Could you help me out as to where I can buy cotton organdy in The Netherlands? Feels like I searched every Dutch fabric webshop, to no effect yet...
Als je onder batisten kantoen zoekt zou je het moeten vinden. Maar let wel, dit is niet het hele fijne katoen dat voor oa fiscou’s gebruikt wordt
@@Leeam Dankjewel! Daarvan heb méters liggen :-#
The Russian Braiding is beautiful and the I would be interested in watching the documentary about your country's history. Any footage on Queen Wilhelmina?
If you could choose between 6 weeks all expenses paid at Disneyland Paris or 4 weeks all expenses paid at Disney Tokyo. Which? And did I see Baby Yoda jammies?
Oh I don’t know if she will be featured🤔 I don’t even know the storyline of the episode I was in😂 also 1000% Tokyo Disney!! And yes Baby Yoda jammies for life!!
Is- is that Supernatural in the background?
How would this garment have been laundered?
What pattern did you use?
Most of the time I use my own drafted patterns, but for this costume I used a skirt pattern from a book. I actually have a full video on that pattern here ruclips.net/video/EFT5Hv-3JwE/видео.html
