  • Sowing In January? | Enough Heat and Light? | Plant Hardiness | Green Side Up
Can you safely sow seeds in January, will there be enough heat and light, will the cold kill my plants, know your plants and what they can do!
I have now taken the plunge and started up a Patreon space here / greensideup This gives a little more Green Side Up content to those who wish to help, support or give back to me. It will be slightly different to the content here on my channel in that it will be an informal style with a warts and all approach, its me, but from a different angle.
If you are enjoying my content, you can help me by buying me a packet of seeds. ko-fi.com/greensideup
    Contact me - steve.greensideup@gmail.com
Every Monday night at 7pm I take part in a LIVE show on the Potty MOuth Garden Club here / @pottymouthgardenclub
Links to products I use, that I have bought and can recommend. If you click one of these links and buy the same thing as me, you pay EXACTLY the same as me, but I earn a small commission from Amazon. Amazon pays this, not you! We are talking pennies here not pounds and I use it more as a shop window,so you can see the product. I always also advise you "shop around" first to find the best price you can.

Normally I sow all the Peppers, Toms, Onions, Lettuce and a few Brassicas, but this year I have held back on most due to energy costs. Listening to you on what can be sown cooler has helped.

    Congratulations on your 3rd year
Ever since I found you last summer I have been inspired by you. I'm in central France but our weather is usually similar to the Kent climate so your information is still relevant to me

I’m sowed some chillis and pepper and aubergines yesterday. I have them in artificial heat and light and I will keep them in there till the year brightens up! 😅 I normally start things off in feb but I couldn’t wait lol!!!

Good advice Steve. I have found that doing research on some plants helps as I grow tropical plants and they aren’t hardy but to get a harvest I need to sow now and keep them warm until I can plant them out. So the package says plant in March but it’s too late in the Uk so one never stops learning

Thanks, Steve. I now know my village in NW Turkey is Zone 8b and my last frost is expected around the 22nd March. Someone said I should sow my chillis and peppers around 10 weeks before my last frost which means I should sow them next week! Is that too early???
