Fun word facts.
I'm theorizing a timeline something among the lines of this
1. Joyboy, Imu, and Lily lead an army to victory in a war against the Lunarian Empire
2. Imu marries Lily, creating a union between Alabasta and whatever kingdom the Nerona family ruled over
3. Imu wishes to eradicate the Lunarian people as revenge for everything he lost during the war and place humans, who were the lowest slave-caste during their rule, at the top of the world's hierarchy. Joyboy opposes this.
4. Zunesha, the Ancient Robot, and some others are tricked into helping Imu initiate the first strike in what would become a civil war between him and Joyboy.
5. Imu turns the tides in his favor by negotiating the support of 18 other kingdoms. As a part of the deal, these royal families are offered the titles of Celestial Dragons.
6. Pluton is still in the late stages of construction in Wano. Meanwhile, Joyboy is unwilling to involve the then very young Poseidon in the war. He and most of his Dawn Clan are killed when Imu loads Uranos with the Lunarian "Motherflame" (the only one known to exist) and destroys the ancient kingdom.
7. Enies Lobby is built atop the hole where the ancient kingdom used to be and the World Government is established. Zuneshia goes on self-imposed exile.
8. It turns out that Lily, having been distraught by Imu's decent into madness, had this whole time been conspiring with Joyboy to enact plan B should Imu win. She divorces Imu, refuses the seat of Celestial Dragon, and secretly helps spread Wano's poneglyphs.
Nice theory. Do you think the gorousei are DF users? If we assume, that they are actual demons (yokai) and not humans (Imu + Gorousei speak about humans as other beings), where do they come from? Are they just a demon race like Fishman or Lunarian? Or did they make a pact with a devil or something like this? We know that gods exists in the world of OnePiece so maybe Devils do as well. As far as we know all Celestial Dragons are human (or at least look human, although Carlos sturdiness is also sus). So Imu being another race would be a bit out of place, but maybe thats why Imu is hiding behind the gorousei?
My questions is, how would you fit this into your theory?

@@TheAkantor The Gorousei are awakened Zoan fruit users, this is made clear by the visual elements they share with both Nika and Lucci. Devil fruits are manifestations of peoples dreams, but not all dreams are benevolent. These god/demon devil fruits came into existence through worship or reverence.
Assuming that Devil Fruits aren't just a naturally occurring part of the One Piece world, I'd imagine they were created by Imu during the Lunarian War. This would even the odds against an enemy that has superpowers innately. I don't think Imu has control over all these fruits, otherwise Sabo wouldn't have been able to use his during the Reverie.
Ivankov theorizes that Imu underwent the Perennial Youth Operation. The Gorousei have been shown to have spent decades without aging, so I think it might be the same with them. I wouldn't take them implying they were never once human literally.
Keep in mind, the World Government in general describes their hierarchy as a relationship between gods and mortals. If I remember correctly, there have been times when regular Celestial Dragons have also called the rest of the world "humans". It's merely a testament to their ego and hubris.
Imu has a few things to gain from concealing his presence. Firstly, to fool the Celestial Dragons into believing that they hold the highest power in the world. Secondly, to hide from any revolutionary forces. Thirdly, to be able to commit atrocities without them being attributed to the World Government, much like with CP9.
I like to think that the Gorousei are either Imu's personal servants from his days as the king of the Nerona family's kingdom, or are children that were kidnapped and raised to serve him.
@@E14K I didn't mean to say that the Motherflame was an actual Lunarian itself, moreso that it was created by Lunarians. A large number of them funneled their powers into a singular object that later came into Imu's possession. With most of the Lunarians gone come the establishment of the world government, it was no longer possible to create more. That was until they discovered King and Vegapunk, the last remaining Lunarian and a scientist capable of using said Lunarian's bloodline elements to create the first artifical Motherflame reactor.
I bet that Imu was the only one never invited to their parties, so he went the villain route to get revenge.

I subscribe to the Blackbeard (and by extension Rocks) are the direct descendants of the original Joyboy theory, and that it might be the Gol or Trafalgar families that betrayed them

I really think it's the opposite. That's why Vivi's ancestor was in the room with The Empty Throne, she just regretted her decision later, and Blackbeard's line left him alone on an island looking up at the moon.
I prefer to believe that Blackbeard is actually a descendant from Joy boy and the Monkey clan are all descendants of the one that betrayed, or failed to protect the Ancient Kingdom.
One question I have is if the void century just covers the end of the ancient kingdom--with it existing long before, but slowly gaining power. Or if the kingdom was a bright light that burned out quickly--a young upstart that upset the balance of power.
It's most likely the second one imo but either one is possible. If the first theory is true then there should be mentions of that ancient kingdom in one piece books older than 900 years without referring to the war between them and the 20 kingdoms that formed the world government. If the only mentions of the ancient kingdom's existence are on poneglyphs and there's no indication of pre-void century knowledge regarding it being scrubbed, then it's the latter.
As far as I’m aware there is no mention of the ancient kingdom of the void century in any of the history before the void century, I think I remember Robin saying something about this specifically
The theory that Zunesha used to be an elder and is the yokai Baku seems cool.
What if Zunesha was a former Gorosei who at some point supported Joy Boy, Joy Boy then lost, and then Imu punished Zunesha by doing turning him into what he is now... Could be a really intriguing twist all things considered...

What if imu literally gots "the" devil fruit so a mythical zoan model devil and his or her awakened allowed them to give the gorosei their devilish powers. Could explain the devil tail and the summonings they did to get to egghead
Maybe they thought Imu was the better option but then realized how bonkers they really were after going back on their assumed promise and now Joyboy’s former Allies are atoning for their foolishness
I think non of them were able to keep the promise for a good or an unavoidable reason

Luffy is a way for Joy boy to try again, similar to how luffy gets up after getting beaten. The robot maybe apologised because it didnt accomplish what it needed to, unlike Luffy's companions. E.g. how Momonusuke was able to accomplish moving onigashima.
In Joyboy's case people suffered, like zunisha being punished similar to the people of wano when oden lost.
I'm assuming we'll get some of questions answered next chapter by the gorosei cause there's no way they won't recognize it right?

It is kind of similar to how Xebec died. He went too far and his crew left him at a crucial time, leading to him fighting a battle he couldn't win alone. Xebec and Joyboy might have lost their crew at the worst of time, and that's why Luffy might be the one to succeed. Time and time again, his crew's loyalty was tested and they remained at his side. Heck, Luffy would rather starve to death than eat food not made by Sanji, his cook. It's a big family. Luffy not only brought smiles to the faces of the weary, but he actually fixed their issues.
I’m almost betting that Imu was Joy Boy and his crew was not there when he needed them the most. So Narineford happened and Imu took it personally.

I think rather than being evil it's entirely likely that joyboy similar to luffy was really self centered and motivated, luffy is not the kind of person that cares about the wider world and the only things that get him involved are personal motivations such as friends or people who helped him being in trouble or things directly related to him trying to be king of the pirates and that might've bit him in the ass, maybe he just didn't give a shit about world events until they affected the people he cared about and him being too late to act is why he's apologizing in the first place
Im currently under the impression that pluton is a giant mole that is being operated like a battleship.
The battleship was said to be slumbering so it has to be somewhat sentient. if you reread the gedatsu cover series the giant mole (dirt boss), may have orignated in Wano (look at the helmet, its the same way oda drew Mt. Fuji), then dug a hole all the way to alabasta connecting the two kingdoms. That theory from Daks Saké is still my headcannon.

I wonder if it will ever make sense that, knowing Joyboy and the Nika fruit, the gorosei didnt immediately go after Luffy the moment they heard of him. They even sent an admiral after SH crew, but to get Robin... Luffy only is essentially a reincarnation of the biggest enemy of the WG before void century, and Aokiji even had Luffy frozen in a ice cube, but screw it, its nap time, too lazy to get rid of a lowlife pirate just in case.

I always thought about that since who’s who’s talked about the fruit. I think it’s just the fact they probably thought he wouldn’t awaken it. Iv always thought the gorosei knew more about luffy then they let on because when they would talk about him they talk like they wanted him dead. You could see the worry grow the stronger he got because they knew the truth.
And I always thought this but I don’t think joyboy is the biggest threat to them but one of their biggest hurdles in the past. Because of the fact that he’s known for freedom and the slaves told stories about how he frees the captured with a smile. My guess is they were many prominent figures he allied with that the WG struggled with. There is also three other fruits like his but maybe IMU was able to find counters to them
Nobody awakened the fruit for 800 years, probably thought Luffy won't either and going after him so early would raise suspicion why would top tier WG people go after a noob in east blue and that is exactly what the Gorosei wanted to avoid. They've done everything they could to erase the fruit from history. Going after noob Luffy would be equal to telling on themselves.

@@Hreeehyer24 roger already had the straw hat before he even was a pirate, rewatch Rayleigh's flashback when young Roger came to recruit him you'll see he already had it. And Rayleigh told Robin they learned the whole history and the meaning od the D. and everything. How Roger knew about poneglyphs? Probably the same as Luffy came to know of them. Luffy didn't start his journey to search for poneglyphs and to learn about the true history, he was discovering through his journey and you can be sure Roger did the same too before.
Pluton is an aircraft carrier. Franky has the blueprints memorized and that's where he got the idea for the sunny docking system
I believe that the Iron Giant has its own personality similar to the Automata from Enel’s cover story
i think the blueprints franky had for pluton was a battleship to house pluton. not the blueprints to build the actual weapon itself but what would carry the weapon on the seas to other locations perhaps or give it a way to fight while at sea if it were a land weapon. similar to how shirahoshi is poseidon but she actually isnt the weapon itself but a means to use the weapon in commanding the sea kings she is the link that the blueprints of pluton are the link to pluton itself and it being used as a full fledged weapon

His toonforce didn't fade away, a mangaka of reality. And the wg try to weaponize this power, creating giants, etc. Which is a nod to how our shadow wg is weaponizing him as a mangaka Twist!

Could Zuneisha have been tasked to take a certain group to a certain place, didn’t make it in time and place was destroyed. So no had no destination so wandering with them ever since?
I've had this pet theory for a while now that someone in the void century had the ability to form binding contracts with people, maybe the same kind of contracts that people make when they eat a devil fruit and lose their ability to swim. Maybe it was Joyboy, maybe it was Nerfartari Lili, maybe someone else. But somewhere along the way Imu got ahold of this power and twisted it against Joyboy and his allies causing them to act in opposition to the ancient kingdom. I think Imu continues to use this power today to control anyone above the Vice Admiral rank in the navy. I have found it so interesting how driven Kizaru was to complete his one order 'kill vegapunk' and how IMMEDIATELY he just gave up and laid down after completing it despite everything else going on. I dunno it just something I keep thinking about as the story goes on. A real 'deal with the devil'

I never thought Zunisha was Uranus, but hearing you mention it here did make me think about how it could make sense (or at least related to it). Posiden can command sea kings, but Shirahoshi is still just an ordinary mermaid capable of being killed by a creep with an axe. Zunisha is possibly the largest living being on the planet. It can cross the whole world, and could easily cause tidal waves and crush islands if it wanted to. Even the moniker "lord of the sky" fits because Zunisha's body can stretch above the cloudline (especially if consider the sea-level in the past was much lower than it is today).
I can't wait to see the secrets Vegapunk is about to reveal to the world.

The question is did they let Joy Boy down via not being able to help in time/do their part, or was it an Oden situation where a minor slip up ruined it.
