+Craig Zimmerman yeah I remember those days too, even though I was just a little guy back then. My uncle had a late 70's Chevy van and my dad had a '71 Dodge Tradesman 200 that was a used ex Canadian Armed Forces fleet van when he bought it. It was over 3 years ago that I bought myself an '87 Chevy G10 cargo van to re-ignite the past. I customized my Chevy like it would of been back in the late 70's/early 80's (shag carpet, mahogony wood panelling, CB, fridge & microwave and an updated stereo). My dad and uncle sure love the memories my van brings back for them. And everywhere I drive I always get the thumbs up and many compliments... :)
Very cool. Good times! Good memories!! Good friends.... I've had my 79' GMC (G25) for 30 years now, best $2,000 I ever spent!! Rolling Man-cave. Work out of it! Live out of it! Travel! Move big stuff! Surf! Currently in it's 3rd form with hood-scoop, flares, front & rear spoilers, sunshade, sunroof, louvers, closet w/ TV/VCR, sink/faucet, pull-out table, bench/bed, & swivel Captain seats! Newspaper BBQ! Plaid tuck & roll thru-out. Doggie window. See ya at da beach Chillaxin'!! World Local....
still the best lookin custom van i have ever seen. i'm in a wheelchair and i would love to fix me a van up like that. i seen this movie as a kid. loved it !!
Wow, this made my day. Easily the funniest example of late '70s cinema I've ever seen. I had to laugh at "8 track!" and the speedy animation when he pulls out of the garage.
Proud owner of a 74 Vandura. Whoever I bought it off of must have watched this movie hundreds of times. Its a little rough around the edges but it is still awesome and people love it. My addition was a keg of homebrew in the closet with tap mounted in the door. People flip their shit when they see I have beer on tap in the party van. lol
This movie is so bad it’s not even funny because it’s cheesy. You know sometimes low budget and cheesy can be funny? This video will make you question if you’re alive. It’s like staring at a chalkboard.
Thats a hell of a nice van. I seen this movie back in the mid or late 1980's on the usa channel. I would like to have one of those vans now. I just never see any 70's era custom vans on the streets nowdays. I guess there all gone. Too bad, it would have been fun to have owned a van like that back in the 70's.
I graduated in 1978 , I knew a couple guys ,who had van , but up north they weren't all that popular. But some guys had.wrestle castles, f..ck trucks. But back then the drinking age was 18yrs old .most high school seniors could buy beer ,so we didnt have to sneak around, and the summer weren't long enough to really put all that money into a van ,a couple buddies had some old convertibles, that was more the summer ride, where I grew up.
I had the Hot Wheels Straight Arrow van as a kid, but had no idea it came from a movie until I saw this on Netflix 30 years later. If I knew about the naked lady curtains back then I probably would've taken the toy apart trying to get a look.
yeah, i love dodge vans too. but i love all the old 60s-70s vans. but my favorite used to be the tradesman. but now i love them all for different reasons. when i was a kid i used to think the early flat nose full size ford econoline van swere so ugly, but now i love it because of its mean smooshed face looking front end. teah, i love old vans
I bought this movie from the bargain rack at Best Buy for $5. The best money I've ever spent. Classic line from this movie: "There ain't a girl around who doesn't love the sound of a zipper coming down."
"mag wheels. 4" & nice tuneage. lol! 'the van' used to play endlessly at drive-in movies. usually it was paired up with 'van nuys blvd.' look for that one too. both had long driving around scenes and some sex scenes. heh.
we have a 77 dodge van but its a p.o.s it hasent been registered since 1992 we might customize it my dad wants to bring back the van craze I would rather stick with our muscle cars
20 years ago, I had a roommate, and we didn’t have any cable, so we didn’t have any TV at all. I had this video though. Used to play it all the time. It’s one of the cheesiest, but not even in a funny way or anything. The movie just is. Is what? Is nothing. Describing this movie is like trying to describe the flavor of styrofoam. The weird thing about it though is Danny DeVito is in it! The music is milquetoast, the cinematography is bad and cheap, but it’s better than a blank screen!
I love this movie my dad had a custom van. Funny thing this movie came on 1 night in the late 80's and my little kid mind did not get why my mom kept making funny remarks to my dad in hindsight I know why fuck my dad was DUGAN
Thing is, the vans themselves are cool. The era is not bad. It’s just this video might as will be a blank screen. I watch this video probably a dozen times, at the time I had no TV and it was the only video we had so we were just put it on, so there was something on. I still couldn’t tell you much about the movie though. That’s how it makes you feel, just completely blank. It’s not even funny for being low budget and cheesy. Instead of popcorn, I think for a snack you should eat some styrofoam. It’s not funny, it’s not edgy, no riveting story, the music is awful, etc. It’s the weirdest thing. I’ve never seen anything like it. You can watch the whole movie and it’s like staring at a chalkboard.
Always wanted to get a van "when I grow up" as a kid... but all I think of now is poor shirley lynette ledford. Hard to want anything to do with them after finding out about that evil.
I used to see vans like that when I was a kid in the 70's. Some of them had paint schemes that were mind blowing.
I remember the whole van craze. The best days.

@Craig. I too remember that craze, only appropriate with the song on the radio in 1975, "Chevy Van" by Sammy Johns.
Vans are making a come back. I just got one myself and pimping it out. lol
***** lol
I am on my second one just wish the customizations would be like the 70s when it came to accessibility
me too, 2004 E250 econoline, Been slowly working on getting the inside done.

Still alive?
Imagine 70's vans with all the modern technology. HDTV etc.
Wow, this made my day. Easily the funniest example of late '70s cinema I've ever seen. I had to laugh at "8 track!" and the speedy animation when he pulls out of the garage.
i love this movie
@@CitizenKane380
I want to see it now.
I am waiting for the Tarantino remake
I remember why my father bought a brand new 1980 custom van. Then in 1981 he put in a water bed and then 1982 my sister was born. 😊
They must've had sexual intercourse on that water bed which resulted in mom getting pregnant with sis!
Highly underrated movie!

The Van is the greatest motion picture ever made and I will fight anyone that disputes this with knives.
This movie is so bad it’s not even funny because it’s cheesy. You know sometimes low budget and cheesy can be funny? This video will make you question if you’re alive. It’s like staring at a chalkboard.
“Cheesy” is just a term stupid millennials throw around for classic art they don’t understand. And they complain about labels… 🤦🏻♂️
the CB radio really sold me
It was that and the 8 track player!
Good time vans are awesome 🚐
I was a senior in high school when this movie came out 😉
Thats a hell of a nice van. I seen this movie back in the mid or late 1980's on the usa channel. I would like to have one of those vans now. I remember watching this as a kid, Now I got me 72' b-100 shorty that is sweet as hell.
I was sold the moment he said it's got an 8 Track.
I love these types of vans. one of my goals is track down one and get it on the road again
70's were so damn cool
Yes they were I was a little girl then
@@mamaT461 Yeah, me too.
The complete movie used to be on youtube about a decade ago. Was a great movie to watch.

Its funny to remember that in those times, 1977, an 8 track was the newest technology.
Cassettes were already really popular by then. The 8 tracks were more popular in the late 60's.
It has a toaster! I'm sold. Pop tart heaven
This is a nice Van !
I had the Hot Wheels Straight Arrow van as a kid, but had no idea it came from a movie until I saw this on Netflix 30 years later. If I knew about the naked lady curtains back then I probably would've taken the toy apart trying to get a look.
I still LMFAO every time I see this... Such witicisms such as "Hey, got time to smoke a joint? No But I got time for a quickie" LOL
😃😃😃😃👍👍👍 🤙🤙🤙 Lol
God I remember this classic
I'm baked now and it was just like old times only I wasnt as big of a geek, and I had a Chevy
*BUT WAIT!! THERE'S MORE!!*
I've always thought the Dodge vans were the best looking of that era -- something about the stance and the oval-ish shape of the front fascia.
And more!
NEED to download this!!!
yeah, i love dodge vans too. but i love all the old 60s-70s vans. but my favorite used to be the tradesman. but now i love them all for different reasons. when i was a kid i used to think the early flat nose full size ford econoline van swere so ugly, but now i love it because of its mean smooshed face looking front end. teah, i love old vans
Thats funny when the guy opens the fridge, he has to do a double take because he didnt remember what it was.
Im so happy I own a 77 Tradesman :O)
I've heard that this was retitled as 'Chevy Van' at one point, after the themesong but, yeah, its a Dodge. Crazy!
IS this a movie!!!?? That van is insane on the inside!
Love those oldschool vintage vans. Fuk this new era of minivan shits!
Nice! I’m sure he’s gonna haul lots of timber in that one
ICONIC ✨
Just Saw this on Netflix damn reminded me of How California used to be
I bought this movie from the bargain rack at Best Buy for $5. The best money I've ever spent. Classic line from this movie: "There ain't a girl around who doesn't love the sound of a zipper coming down."
Love my 77 big block tradesman 200💪💪
Sammy Johns sang all of the songs from "The Van". I own the soundtrack. :)
yes-but is that sammy johns around the 4:40 mark?when she tells em the car's on fire
sorry-4:28
vans are cool
Thats one badass B200!
A 8-track....cool man! lol
You know it's a high dollar build when you get FOUR mag wheels!
I only got two.
How West Coast Customs started.
I have this movie on video, gotta dig it out
Bobby planned on buying a Chevy, hence the title of the song. Then he found the Dodge, and.. hey whatever.
The best scene was when he ask the chick in the hotdog stand window if she wanted to share a joint in the back of the van. Post that scene.
hablo en español quiero saber como se llama la pelicula
The Van
Wow four mag wheels...
and did he say a pop up toaster?
And more
Now with HD!
I had to laugh when I read the info on this video. That's the funniest shit I've seen in awhile.
What's the song called at the end of the video
Those aren't mag wheels , they are chrome steel. Mag wheels are made out of Magnesium.
"mag wheels. 4" & nice tuneage. lol!
'the van' used to play endlessly at drive-in movies. usually it was paired up with 'van nuys blvd.' look for that one too. both had long driving around scenes and some sex scenes. heh.

I feel so bad for the straight girls of the 1970's... look what they had to work with!
It's only a movie, bro. These "actors" weren't chosen for their looks or acting abilities - it was nepotism.
They got to fuck in a dope van.
they have this movie on Netflix streaming
Mag wheels...4 lol
mike misk I would have looked at him like..the fucks wrong with you??
and 3 miles to the gallon
@LukaStanojevic
'Country Lady' by Sammy Johns. Now, stop stalking me...
naked under overalls, scary
that's the balls
That's not a van. It's a shaggin wagon.
Ha? Van! Ha? Ha? Waterbed! Ha?
