Malibu Beach, The Van , Hollywood Blvd., and Van Nuys Blvd. were ALL good drive-in movies ! We'd all go to HiWay 39 with our lawn chairs and Coors in styrofoam coolers .
Rick OBrien I went the HiWay 39 Drive In as well. Did not always see the movie but o well. And now sitting on the same spot is a Freaking wal mart and a lowes. How Sad.
Ya can't beat the creamed corn script writing from the 70's car cult movies....looks like the 118 fwy in that shot during construction... I was able to experience the V Nuys Wendsday night cruzes and street racec all over So cal...Magical time...When the youth was free...Yes I am an old man now...
The tradition dates to the late 1950s when high schools in the San Fernando Valley held club meetings each Wednesday, said Jon Billesbach, 67, of North Hollywood. Youths in car clubs would head to the boulevard after the meetings ended for street racing.
Not even the same van, different roof vents, sheet metal patch on side, different mirrors, no chrome bumper, # plate in wrong spot, no side pipes no wide tires or Baby moon rims and caps :(
Yeah, the music does remind me of Chips. Probably used the same stretch of highway as Chips too. Ah, I miss the hair and the heals. BTW, my favorite vehicle is the Ford hot rod.

Ditto! An original Valley girl!! What a wonderful world we lived in.... Sad to see what it’s like today🥲
@@darlawyndham1158-Agree with you 100%
Absolutely LOVE this movie 🎥. There aren’t like this made today. What a bygone era
So true, the new generation has nothing good. No good cars, no good culture, no good anything
@@lotsoftorque3632-I pity the fools 😆
Bobby was clever; instead of sending his van over the cliff he sent a different one without all the fancy parts and Moon didn't notice ....
I ran this as a projectionist in 1979.
You lucky son-of-a-gun! In my youth, i had always wanted that job but never was able to get it.
Good to see Dennis Bowen again. May he rest in peace.
Thank you for being there.
Thumbs up for no editing at 6:18
Shoulda dumped the chick and kept the van.
StonerViking Yeah she seems to be a little bit psycho.
1:47 Wasn't that lady in the movie called "Deep throat" part deux ???
Question: Why was Wedensday chosen as cruising night for Van Nuys in the 70s?
I've been wondering the same thing. Haha

@@rodneyrtennis1279 makes sense...thanks for answering
jokerswildio Because Why not.?
Could of just sold the van and got her a ring.... but this seemed appropriate.
Women are never satisfied till you give up everything that makes you you!
Smedley Butler And they then say you changed to much I liked you better the way you used to be.
Tru dat

"Bobby", same actor on the same freeway who played the bad guy on ChiPs giving John and Ponch a hard time.
I watched the whole movie on RUclips. You should also watch Malibu High, also from ‘79.
Yeah, the music does remind me of Chips. Probably used the same stretch of highway as Chips too. Ah, I miss the hair and the heals. BTW, my favorite vehicle is the Ford hot rod.
Spineless bobby's life was all down hill thereafter.
Is the girl with the flag who starts the race the same Melissa Prophet who today runs Melissa Prophet Management?
yep
She was fine!
hauntboy, she was also in Goodfellas and Casino 🎰
This movie had nothing to do with cruising Van Nuys Blvd!
Its about kids that meet on the way to Van nuys Blvd.
is this the 210 freeway
Jjabox1ng21 it is bro
I know Bill and he is still making movies!
What kind of van is that
t3hb0ss Blue one: mid ‘70s Dodge Tradesman 100,
Primer one: early ‘60s Ford Econoline.
So he couldn't have just said: "I promise I'll sell the van tomorrow?"
I remember this movie. Man is it dated now.
Yeah, when are you gonna grow up? It's not like I actually raced you or anything like that!
lol
meh, the Dodge is nicer anyway.....
Women. Never figure them out!!
.....LOOKS LIKE CHIPS-----HE BEAT THAT STREETVAN WITH A SPRINT SIX-----NOPE
Stupid ending
