When I decided to work with the dreams I dreamt about "three uncles" and the one I spoke to was Odin. It wasn't until I actually started to study the Runes that I realized Odin had two brothers. For me, that was just confirmation that there is more to this knowledge then I assumed. I wish I could learn more about his brothers.

It is the subject on the British museum's 'curators corner', here on RUclips. Was Óðinns power invoked in it, or meant to channel the owners battlecry to (the gods of) his ancestors?

A theory of Odinn sacrificing his eye is that he focused it inward so that he could see (read) his subconscious mind but having done that he could never use it on the conscious world. In doing this nothing that he had known or learnt could ever be hidden from him. I forgot on another video (Thurisaz) to say that your new intro is very shamanic, cool!
Indeed, most of the time I purposely separate the spiritual from the religious, because a religion has certain canons, laws, rules and so on, a hierarchical structure. And spirituality is much more personal, either individual or in a group but there is a lot more freedom and much different from the religious structure. This also happened in ancient Scandinavia. The Norse were highly political and religion was also part of the politics, while Seidr was more linked to folk believes, more magical, much more pagan in it's sense of belonging to the religions of peasants and other people linked to the country side. In terms of Odin sacrificing his eye, there are many plausable explanations. I see it just the way I see mythology in general. I do believe mythology isn't to be taken literally, and it's actually a cultural code. The wise hid their knowledge but to be able to communicate amongst themselves and still keep their knowledge, they created this cultural code only they would understand. However, there is also the need to pass this knowledge, but knowledge isn't given freely, so instead of giving knowledge, they gave mythological accounts so people would work their way into the truth, unveiling the metaphors and tales until they would reach the truth. Because knowledge isn't given freely, there must be sacrifices. The wise don't become, well... wise, because it was easy, but because they worked for it. That's why Odin sacrificed an eye, not literally, but to show that sacrifices must be made to achieve power. This is my opinion of course.

My scientific brain needed to connect the esoteric meaning and the historical/mythological data about them to better understand the symbols. We find tons of questionable information about them. It took me until this video, when you mentioned the Cycle of Initiation, to realize that these are the Ralph Blum rune meanings. Didn't Blum just kinda make these up back in the 80s? Seems a bit contrived to try and tie these back to the original mythology, I think.
It means "Woden" or Odin, it is related to this deity. Meaning that he is the fruit of Wisdom, Pita and Venus, not forgetting the mundane average world of the Venusian yet he does not belong to it, his is greater.
