I'm 16 just bought my first car today (2002 ford f150) and i'm re-watching all your great truck vids, i'm getting a lot of good ideas. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!!!! You answered the ONE huge question I had- how do you slide extra backer nuts into the slots- Prinsu gives no information on this on their site. It doesn’t even mention the wider openings at the ends of each bar. I had a Cali Raised bed rack on my Tacoma and ran into this problem- they said I had to plan ahead and put a bunch of the nuts in the slots before closing it up, thus having the un used ones sliding around. They eventually got me a fix, which was to use press in nut which has a small spring loaded ball bearing, you compress it and press it in, without having to slide them in from the ends. Rhino Rack uses the same in genius design of a wider opening at the bar ends. Simple yet effective
Wow Colorado is beautiful, you are a lucky guy to have that in your backyard man. I'm glad too see you taking advantage of the landscape in style, I'm jealous.
Hey Mike, watched this when I first bought my taco last year and decided this was the rack for me. Happy to say I finally picked one up, assembled it and will be loading it up tomorrow! Thx bro.
Congrats on the new house, Mike! Also, I'm really interested in the lights video you mentioned. I'd also like to see the update on the rear racks. Looking forward to those!
Very good point about the light not being flush with the rack. You are definitely right about that, thx for mentioning it. Now I have to think about that and choose carefully about want kinda of light and rack to get. Thx again.
Mike, for the wingnuts holding the nomad case I'd grab a couple small rubber washers and throw them on. I doubt anything will come up through the holes like you suggested but a super inexpensive and easy piece of mind in my opinion. Great video. Keep them coming!
Hi Mike, I really love your videos especially since I bought my 2019..I bought both Prinsu rack and light bar per your influence. Did you ever put out the wiring install video? Keep up the great vids, I’m certainly a big fan
Thanks for sharing your review and tips on using the Prinsu rack, Mike! Great job on the video. I'm still debating whether to get a Prinsu or a Front Runner roof rack. I do like how the Prinsu is very low profile; it can help to clear the garage gate where we live. However, getting a FRO roof rack to match the FRO bed rack setup I have on the Diamondback cover can allow for easier transfer of items back and forth between them.
Was just on the western slope for Thanksgiving and yeah it was cold compared to Vegas. Great vid. Moving, such a pain. That's when you realize how much stuff you really have.
👍🏼 can’t wait to see updated video on that rack system for the diamond back. I installed the same one you had and works great but see that now you have a “rail system” I’m assuming to move the rack bases at different positions 👍🏼
Ayeee! look at those Baja Designs S2s and Squadrons! I work with like 8 other guys in Bajas headquarters building all the lights! Ive seen the difference between each offroad lighting company lights and i can honestly say baja designs has the best usage of our lumens with the LED bulbs.
5:39 I'm glad I'm not the only one to think about drilling holes in the drip moulding...I heard there is metal in the rubber...What did you use to drill it with...I'm in Western CO.
Looking forward to the lighting video. I’m trying to decide on ditch light brackets and placement. I just picked up a pair of KC highlights Flex pods and have got to mount them.
Just got a 2019 Taco off road and found your channel. Giving me all kind of ideas. In some ways I think the worse thing about getting it is now I want to mod it out. Ugh. I’ve moved back from Colorado to Wisconsin so I want to be realistic in my needs and POU. Thoughts?
Definitely recommend the sound strip for the front! You really don't ned to try to make it fit the conture of the entire thing, just where it sits close to the roof. Without it, the wind noise was deffening!!! With it in place, it was the same as no rack at all.
I have a full time job as a web developer, and also run a small holster company. In addition, I test, beta test, and review products for dozens of companies, so I get a lot of stuff at deep discounts or sent out for testing free of charge from time to time as well!
I really like this video about this roof rack and how you can mount various pieces of equipment. Do they make this same rack for the Tundra? I recently bought a 2006 Double Cab with a Leer topper and I want to mount roof rack like this on the cab too. I do plan on using some of your videos to upgrade mine. Thanks for your continued educational vids.
I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD off road I just ordered the same rack in your video.when you placed the silicone seal then the bushings to mount the rack is there a piece of oem weatherstripping in the middle of the two bolt holes in the front and rear mounting locations? How close should the custom cut weather stripping come to the bushings that the rack rests on? Great video! Please do some videos on how to wire in the light bar and grill mounted led light! Thanks again for sharing your expertise. You have a beautiful truck!
Just came across your post great video and tips. Taking parts list to build my own roof rack. The price of the aftermarket item I'm sure I can build one cheaper. Right now the parts list is less than $200 just the labor to build.
Nice video! Is that a channel rack system you have for your bed rack? I love your rack system on the diamondback and I'm looking to do something similar but I want to make it so I can take it off and it be relatively flush when I am not using the RTT. I know you have alot going on, but can you do a video on that updated setup?
I want the same rack as your truck but I want to know if that rack can add ski racks or possibly bikes. Does that rack have some sort of attachment that can happen?
@@MrJedi5150 i finally purchased this prinsu last week and i will receive it this week. I am really excited about this product! Thank you for your response!
I am looking for where to get the external loops, I think you called them rope tie downs with threads bolts that replace the screws that hold the the cross members of the rack. I went to the Amazon page, but did not see them there. Hoping they will fit the Cali raised off road roof rack I am installing, looks similar to yours, but has lighting cutouts for the side and back. Slightly taller than yours
The one person who watched this and thumb- down’d it can go kick rocks. Also, did you drill straight through the weatherstripping and if so what kind of bit did you have on your drill. I wish Prinsu would offer aftermarket weatherstripping pre-drilled to fit perfectly which doesn’t seem like an outrageous request
Did you just choose a spade bit large enough to allow a slip fit for the little machined spacers the screws slide through? Any silicone used to seal around the holes?
When you do the lighting video if you can show the output from those square pojectors. I need to get new headlights because I broke the adjuster but currently I'm thinking about the ones Tacomabeast has but hasn't released yet because I'm not a fan of the square projectors. But if they aren't awful I may reconsider.
Do you need to get additional weather stripping or just the cab rack? Prinsu website shows you can get noise reducing edge trim for $15, is this necessary?
Assuming you have racks on the roof and bed that can support the weight - no reason you can't do that. It'd be a little more weight up high than usual - but nothing too out of the ordinary as opposed to someone with a camper shell and lots of stuff on their racks. Just wouldn't want to push the envelope of being too tipsy.

considering selling my pre 2018 prinsu rack to get the newer model that has the slots cut out to drop in the anchors without having to remove the crossbars... also like how the new model comes with black spacers instead of the silver ones
baesterr I would just take your current ones to a local machine shop, or anyone you know with a basic manual mill. They would just take a end mill cutter, and could slot a hole for a T nut/bolt no problem. They could even slot all four sides, the new bars don’t even offer that.
