Guys I feel you setting your sights too high! Most cars on sale have issues with paint and some of the issues can be dressed up really well with just a mop and G3 paste however you need to bite the bullet and go with your gut instinct! Thanks for sharing and have a lovely Christmas

Seriously though, you need to get more cars on the pitch, the reality is that you have bills to pay, like the rest of us.
I am now old and worn out, been buying and selling cars and vans for the last 31 years, my tip is to avoid auctions full stop, and I think that you are setting your expectations too high. 99% need paint so allow for it. Auctions were a minefield years ago, but they are even worse now because of WBAC and BCA.
Have you not got a main dealer close to you? they will be glad to sell PX cars to you to avoid the hassle, transportation, and charges of sending them to auction, you will have to accept what you are offered though, auction the crap, and make the most of the decent stock, they will still need new MOTs, with no advisories, regardless of how many months that they have left when bought for your piece of mind, all advisories sorted, And fully serviced, and then put them up for sale.

Sound advice tony, i traded in cars for a long time and had smaller dealers px's which was great, i always found main dealers a nightmare to deal with, the ones by me would rather send them to auction never got a look in.
Looks like to get a car for a good price they need body work or need paint and to get a good price you need to be good to do paint your self didn't seem like that had any good cars some high mileage body work no or short mot or engine problems think it was a waisted trip to be fair i do hope things get better in the new year for you both as its not been a easy start for you but you keep trying hard to make it work hope you both have a good Christmas and new year ☃️🥳🍻

That's why we do our own paint, tbh you'll really struggle to get anything at a reasonable price that doesn't need paint, I bought a quasgui and a 308 last night, both need the bumpers painting, if I were you I'd get into it, it's the absolute main thing tbh.

@@ValleyAutosBirmingham you can do a bit outside bud, check out grants body repairs for some ideas, tbh on cheap cars you'll have to do everything yourself, as you've seen there expensive to buy and there's not enough in them to pay people, it's good advice mate if your going to make it in used cars.

You've got little chance looking at say 40k polo's, you'll never buy one unless your willing to pay more than you can sell it for, everbodys all over low miles, private sales, auction, salvage or trade, I looked at a yaris at astons the other day, 42k,did 1400 plus fees, so 1700,great,only snag was it was a 52 plate (!) I did manage to get a 28k car the other week, but unfortunately it was an old KA, so didn't have a high selling price, I bought an old 57 plate 70k polo the other mth, cost 1700 with fees and still needed loads of paint, mot, brakes, when you go to the auction probably don't focus on one or two keep an open mind, check nearly every one in your budget, I bought a quasgui and a 308 Peugeot and I'd not even seen them till they were going thru, you've got to be quick tho, no time for adding up vehicle scores and stuff like that.

I don’t see how vehicle score is anywhere near accurate it cannot put a number on a car it cannot see it’s all done on mot past and present accident damage were it’s been recorded not fixed privately
It goes off previous records so gives you a good impression on weather to buy or not! You’ll never know until you see the actual car and asses it yourself as to weather it has had any unrecorded damage!! Vehicle score works for us and we always recommend to others
If you can’t do the repairs in house, then buying from auctions isn’t for you.
I’m telling you from experience.
That's why we are careful
I hate seeing people leaning on cars they dont own, about as unprofessional as you can get.
