    The pyro fuse has gone on the M3 that's why it doesn't start. When any airbag goes on most modern cars they have a fuse that cuts power to the starter of the engine to prevent any further damage. It shouldn't be too much to get engine started. Hope this helps!

    Ex-copart customer here. They don't let you view. Then you come to realise the car is not as described, they refuse to rectify the situation and try to use every excuse to try and make you feel you are responsible for their false description. Avoid. Sued them in the end and got my money back.

I'd go all in on this one and make it a six part series. Get the windscreen new but you should be able to source a good condition wing and bonnet in the correct colour given a bit patience and perseverance. Best of luck with it!!!

      That's good to know. Are they as unreliable as everyone always says?

    • @AlexLR
      @AlexLR Год назад

      @@NotEconomicallyViable Definitely not unreliable. If they are serviced properly they are very reliable. LR service schedule should go in the bin. Change engine oil more often to protect the turbos, flush the gearbox oil every 40k and ALL other fluids. Coolant is often ignored, over time it loses it’s corrosion inhibitor leading to leaks in the various coolers. My MOT tester had one from 20k miles and sold it at 270k still running great but a bit rusty. They rust in the rear wheel arches, rear jacking points and rear subframe first, also brake lines corrode but that’s standard car stuff. Ideally all plastic covers under the car should be removed, the metal cleaned up and sprayed with dinitrol or similar. Bushes, there is a lot of them but the originals last long after they are dried and cracked, only replace with OEM or they don’t last. Front ball joints cause rattles but easy to replace, again use quality ones, I mostly use Lemforder for bushes and ball joints. Always get an alignment after too.

    The heart wants what it wants. Having had lots of Discos and Defenders I have found that if you approach maintenance of an LR product proactively they are perfectly usable every day.
    Get an RR L322 for relative peanuts money and invest in a few bits and you'll have a lovely car.
    Just a quick comment on buying blind: I live in France but used to buy my car in UK because overall they (Jaguars/LRs and RRs) were cheaper buy. I never saw them before committing to buy and I always drove them home to Central France. I would ask lots of questions and saw plenty of pictures of the vehicles and studied the paperwork to verify that they would work for me, and they did !!
    If I felt they required it they would an engine oil and filter, a new air filter and anything else that was obviously required.

    Best of luck; I have a 2004 L322 (petrol) which I bought last year as a hobby/project and because I'd always wondered what it was like to own one (!). I had a couple of months trouble-free but the gremlins crept in. Once you've sorted the bodywork issues, be prepared for daft electrical issues. Most of these in my experience - boil down to the ridiculous complexity of the systems; everything seems to be related to everything else. Example: my hill descent/abs/air suspension faults (otherwise known as the three amigos) were all resolved by changing out the brake light fuse...discovered after several months of fiddling, during which many other items were replaced. Expect the unexpected, and best of luck!

    I’ve had a few “executive”/“luxury” cars over the years, the merc was fun to drive, albeit a bit slow on pull off being diseasel.
    The jag!!!! Well… the absolute worst car I’ve driven in long journeys. The seats were so uncomfortable after just 20 minutes of driving I ended up selling after a month. The ride was smooth and quiet but by far the most uncomfortable.
    Now the Range Rover. I had a L322 and by far was and still is the comfiest car I’ve ever driven. I could take it anywhere. The fuel economy was workable and didn’t mind the cost for the drive. I hope to one day get another as I had to sell it due to corrosion. But would love another.
    Currently have a freelander with RR seats. They’re the best seats.

      The good thing about buying a crash-damaged car is that it must have been working fine before the crash!

    No worries mate. Could have been worse. What could possibly go wrong 👍

  • @dannyhtheretrogamingmaster9548

    Nice little Rangie that and a bit of a steal for £1500. Should be good with new bonnet, wing and windscreen - even better if you can find them from a breaker in the same colour.

      @NotEconomicallyViable  Год назад

      Yeah that's the plan. Not a particularly rare colour, so shouldn't be too difficult 👍

    I've said it before and i'll say it again.. Copart literally makes no sense financially.. I'm guessing this Rangerover was around £2k with fees and you could likely buy one without all this damage for around the same price off facebook marketplace

      I’d highly doubt that George, the basement price for these is in the 5k range at a minimum.

      My experience so far is that it's preferable to buy a crash-damaged car from Copart than it is to buy the cheapest 'working' version from eBay.
      The reason for this is that with a crash-damaged car you know it was working at the time of the accident and the reason it's been parked up is because of the damage. It's very unlikely they were driving around with a broken gearbox and had just cleared the codes from the ecu to hide stuff at the time of the crash.
      The cheapest cars from eBay have all sorts of hidden horrors that people 'forget' to mention just so they can get the car gone.

    Wow that RR sounded amazing and someone bought a bargain half the price, I love these big RR ( I own a evoque ) and would love one for myself so the wife can have the evoque for herself. I actually prefer the older models

    I've had 5 Land Rovers and Range Rovers. Spend less and find yourself a VERY GOOD EXAMPLE of a P38 4.6HSE/ VOGUE / WESTMINSTER/ VOGUE SE / AUTOBIOGRAPHY / HOLLAND & HOLLAND.......Yes it'll have problems, but it's such a pride to own at just a fraction of the cost of the more recent ones.
