Previous comments about not drying out (for weeks or months at a time) is right on! It’s been my experience as well. Mine, both Eco and the Swipe, are nice and wet, juicy writers! Terrific quality just like Brian says in this video.
My Eco is still the most enjoyable pen I own. Not only is it stunning in translucent blue, it writes like a dream! Medium nib is smooth and wet, exactly how I like it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to just about anyone.
Can approve.. I have Eco and Diamond.. Huge ink capacity, very smooth writing, excellent workmanship, lot of accessories, never dry off as my Parker urban (when I do not use it a day).. Even I started use it for ink drawings, and my TWSBI like it as well😉 I just do not know what that letters mean.. Thank you for video!
I used to consider Ahabs my work pens but since I discovered how great TWSBI writes, I've switched over to them fully. I think I have 11 of them, and 1 is a diamond vac and 2 other diamonds.
This isn’t going to be the traditional comment like the others on the video. I’ve had a heartbreaking day, and seeing a new Goulet video made my day. Thank you. Thank you to my pen friends for just being here in our little space on the internet. God bless you and thank you.
My TWSBI Diamond 580 Smoke Rose is my absolute favorite! (I get so many compliments and curious looks at work when I take it.) As a fountain pen beginner, this is the one that did it for me, that sold me on using a fountain pen daily for journaling. It's so easy to use, smooth to write with and holds so much ink. Plus, the ink flow is always consistent. Now that I'm Team TWSBI, the mini, Iris 580, and glow green eco have happily been added editions within my collection. Love your videos and always look forward to the pen podcast, Brian!
A long interesting journey down the path of TWSBI fountain pen review. For any one interested in TWSBI this video is a must. Thanks a lot for taking so much of pains to make pen lovers acquainted with so much of details about TWSBI.
I just bought an Eco, and I just love it. The little card you include inviting me to rate the packing of the pen was a special touch that will absolutely have me coming back you you for more.
My TWSBI Diamond 580 is the best pen I've ever owned! I use it daily and it never lets me down. I have various LAMY & MontBlanc models but I always come back to my TWSBI, purchased from Goulet, of course! Recommended!
This was a great video, Brian. Thanks for explaining the different TWSBI pens. I have a few ECOs, a Swipe and the Rainbow 700R vac. I don’t mind a large pen as I have arthritis and I also prefer capping my pens. I was not aware that some TWSBIs should not be capped. I also like that as you go up in models the nibs are easier to swap out.
I was ready to order my next fountain pen and wanted something unique. I saw the green glow and had to have it! I had never heard of this brand. Thank you for showing all the different fountain pens. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Funny you say the Classic doesn't stand out. I saw the Precision on RUclips, and got interested (I hadn't heard of TWSBI). And looking for more information about the Precision, I came across the Classic. And I immediately fell in love. For me this pen absolutely DID stand out. So now I own one :) And I love it.
I only own a few pens, and the TWSBI ECO was the first (and so far only) pen that I liked enough to spend more on a better pen from the same brand. Now I've got a Precision and I love it!
Bravo Brian ! That’s a great video here! I have a TWSBI Eco clear, filled with Diamine Red Dragon, so it looks like a seringue full of blood 💉 ! I’d live to see other videos like this one, maybe with the Kaweco line up, and Lamy, Pilot… That’ll be awesome! Keep up the good work. Bonjour de la France 🇫🇷 😃
Just received my Eco in the mail from your company. Thank you! I love it, it’s my first pocket pen, the other ones have been more formal that I didn’t want to beat up. Thanks for the info on the exclusives, I like that glowing one.
Absolutely phenomenal pens. I have an eco and a diamond 580 and they are just incredibly reliable. I have never had even a single feeding issue with either of them, even when I hadn't tended to them for months.
My Twsbi Swipe was one of the smoothest writing pens I’ve ever had. Unfortunately I lost it while traveling a few months ago. I will end up getting another Twsbi soon. About the Twsbi pocket clip: yes it’s very stout but if you pull it away from the pen and slide it in your pocket, it’s not going anywhere. It works very well and if you’re like me and bring your pens to work you don’t have to worry about snapping this off the pen like I’ve done with my Muji and Ohto Tasche.
Great video! As someone who has only dabbled in to the hobby, videos like this are fantastic. I have two TWSBI ECO's and they have been my go to's for a while. I also like Lamy's- Safari, Al-Star & Studio. I've been eying the 580's for a while and this has sealed the deal on what I'm buying next. Thanks Brian!!
My TWSBI pens have been tucked away for a while but after watching this video I'm not only inspired to dig them out of my moving boxes but also interested in the versions I don't own yet. I feel a TWSBI shopping spree coming up😅
i just purchased the Diamond demonstrator. Your explanations of the various products was excellent. I learned a lot about the product and the accessories.
Fantastic summary of TWSBI, one my favourite pen companies, their pens just work! I've had all my other pens dry out on me except for my Eco and 580 mini.
So glad I found this video. It answered some questions I had about the various models. Very easy going, professional presentation! Very nice job Brian! This is one of your best!
Thank you for that tip on the proper grease to use on the piston shaft of the 580s - I had no idea it needed a different lubricant than the silicone grease that came with the pen.
TWSBI, next to my crystal dream, is the best pen I own. I own 4 of the inkwells. I'm glad you touched on them. They hold different colors of Noodler's ink.
I use my Vac700r Iris edition everyday at work. I rarely have to ink it and I can carry it around without worrying about it getting hurt. It's a really wonderful pen.
I'm literally obsessed with TWSBI!! I'm in the process of collecting all of the ECO and ECO T colors. I have the Iris Vac 700r as well, but I haven't inked it up yet. I just admire it in its clear case. After my Eco collection is complete, I'll move on to their other models... Yes! I'm wild about TWSBI!!
Was humming and hawing about falling down the fountain pen rabbit hole. Watched many of your videos but this one got me to pull the trigger. Thank you looking forward to getting my package.
I really like videos like this. I’m new to the fountain pen community, only joining about halfway through last year. It explains a lot without me needing to know a lot of technical stuff that I just don’t know yet.
LOVE MY ECO T !!! ❤❤❤ I work in a hospital, but still carry my trusty TWSBY and use it all day! People love to see it! Go with the Eco range , you can't go wrong. My first eco-t was a bit fragile around the top of the cap but after someone swiped that one, my second one has been bomb proof!! The Bold Nib is an absolute hose though. I switched back to a Medium!! Writes with the perfect amount of flow in Medium. Amazing packaging and extra tools. Super clear, super clean. The ECO-T Nibs are absolutely NOT flexible at all though, and I can't find any individual Nibs sold separately. But at this price point, get another one!! 110,000% recommended.
I always wondered why the Precision seemed to be a flop when introduced because I love mine. It's a 1.1mm water hose and the brushed grey metal look I find really cool too!
YES! I adore my Precision - built like a tank, great looking, great writing. If you are looking for a pen you can carry anywhere and not worry about its durability, and don't mind a heavier pen, check it out for sure.
I love the eco , eco-t , 580 , the mini / mini AL & vac / vac mini are forever going to stay in my collection & I love them all . Thanks so much for sharing unique things about each model - there were a few things that I did not notice until you pointed out .
I have a few of each, and though I love the new Iris 580 is most eye catching, the Eco feels best in my hand and even when sitting uncapped at my desk, it refills quickly. Next to my Pilot 823, it is my most favorite. I even prefer it to my former grail pen, Pelikan 800. 8a blue fanatic so the eco in blue and now the cerulean never left behind.
I bought the homosapiens skylight as my edc quickdraw. It's super durable material. You can see if it has ink in it. Quick cap operation. Double resevoire makes it safe for transporting and huge capacity. It basically ouclasses everything as a quick draw fountain pen for me, but it is of course a bit more expensive.
I somehow missed this video when it came out. I spent many years buying and experimenting with pens, but never came up with the right pen for me. Last year, after reaching out to your customer service team, I bought an Eco. I haven't bought any other pen since. Although I don't love the style, this is the pen for me. Outstanding.
These pens are amazing. Just bought my second one (diamond 580AL-R) from your website (first one was the diamond vac 700R - iris) with the pipe attachment. Smoothest fountain pen writing experience, great quality, and I love the nib aesthetic.
The last half a year I was struggling with Faber Castell Neo Slim.. that pen refused to work at almost every point, after taking of the cap ink was always on the section(I even believed it was supposed to be like this), cap worn out after 2months so it was falling of when posted. I throw it away and bought TWSBI Swipe. It is so amazing pen, I love it, and now I just do not understand, why and for what would someone buy any of FC pen.. Thank you guys for what you do, keep it going!
I have the grand total experience of one Faber-Castell fountain pen,the Loom. It has one of the best steel nibs I've ever used. I use it frequently;always wet and smooth;never dries out. TWSBI ECO-T,GO,580 AL-R are also some of my favorite pens.
Thanks for the info :) as a begginer with pretty bad handwriting whos only ever really used ballpoint pens, this has been great! Fountain pens seem super boring from afar but are actually really interesting when you take a closer look ngl
I recently bought a TWSBI Eco and even more recently found your channel. If I had known I would have purchased from you. Love your videos. I've been binge watching them. The ECO is a lovely pin and solid performer. I'm trying to decide if I want another ECO or a 580 or something else.
The Twisbi Mini was my first fountain pen, and still my favorite. I was inspired to choose it after a conversation in which a couple of friends brought out their pens for a quick demo. The Mini was the only Twisbi there, and it was also the only one that wrote as soon as the cap was off. Everything else needed a bit of priming or tweaking. I now have two Minis, the green glow Eco, and one of the nearly indestructible Go models, and they all write immediately, every time. I have a few other brands, including some that are more expensive, and nothing is as good as the Twisbis.
I’ve got a twsbi 580 EF which writes beautifully - this nib feels wonderful:); thanks for this vid, Brian: bought wee bottle twsbi midnight blue: my first venture into their ink offerings:)
I own two TWSBIs. An Eco and a Go. I was blown away by the Eco and absolutely adore the pen. The Go? Bought that for my wife after she said she was too scared of damaging her Pilot Metro to carry it around every day (go figure). She loves the Go. It writes well and she carries it everywhere.
Having many FP's, some in the many hundred dollar price range, I always take a TWSBI when traveling. I know I will have a constant writer and no problems. Go TSWBI! And their customer service is superb.
Thank you for the introduction to the TWSBI line up all in one go. I would be interested in a video that looks at the all the special editions and discontinued models and overseas editions too. More of a history lesson or the full story. :)
I have an Eco T clear and two Swipes, peach and avocado. They're all fine nib. Of all my pens (12?) the Eco T is the smoothest writing. The Precision looks very industrial in pictures and videos, maybe it looks prettier in person. I now know that the Vac and Vac Mini have threads in the end for secure posting. That's really helpful in my profession. Thanks!
I call my TWSBI 580 my Energizer Pen because it always works and just keeps going and writes well. Once had several pens in my backpack and it got dropped. of the 4 pens, a couple much more expensive than the TWSBI 580. The other 3 had to have the cap and section cleaned out because of ink leakage. The 580 didn't leak at all. Very impressive. I now have 4 different TWSBI's all from Goulet Pens.
I love my Vac 700R. It is just a joy to write with. I also get a lot of writing done per fill, since the ink capacity is huge, and I'm using a fine nib. Seeing the ink slosh about in the barrel gives it an even cooler factor. I know that vintage pens, such as some Sheaffers and Parkers were vacuum fillers, but I haven't been lucky enough to find a vintage vacuum filler in good condition at a reasonable price. The TWSBI Vac 700R satisfied my need for a vacuum filler in my collection, and it's become a favorite pen that I use daily, along with my Lamy 2000. The Vac 700R is just such a terrific value, and I highly recommend it.
I have always been really intrigued by the Twsbi Micarta but haven't ever got a chance to use one. As far as I know it is the only pen that Twsbi has ever produced with a gold nib (and a clipless version!). I do wonder if they plan on doing a third run anytime soon.
Thank you for the Twisbi fountain pen in depth review. I got the Eco about a month ago and loving it. I'm thinking about getting a Mini, as I don't use all the ink in Eco
Thank you so much for how to put the TWSBI Eco together, I received mine today and I couldn't put it together. Anyway, it is fine now, and such a beautiful writer.
I love the Minis because I like a smaller pen although I also enjoy the Eco with its various colors, especially the glow in the dark ones. As you explained, TWSBI is great value for the price, another feature I love.
Thank you so much for this video. I have each model except the mini, precision and classic. Their ef and f nibs write so well on all papers, along with pilot metro, are my daily go to pens. Of course the biggest draw is that I don't have to fill the ink all the time. Metro tends to dry out quickly. Now I'm curious about all the inkwells from TWSBI!
I wasn't sure I'd like the Swipe, but once in my hand I fell in love with it. It write just as well as any of my other TWSBIs, and I enjoy both the large cartridges, and the large converters.
@@jamesaritchie1 it looks a very nice pen. All the twsbis under 40 pounds all use the same nib so should be quite consistent in how they write between models
With the sealing features of these pens (such as a interior pen cap AND an o-ring), how well do these pens resist drying out? In particular, how do these compare to the Platinum pens with the slip & seal mechanism? This is important for artists who need many different pens, possibly with multiple colors of ink. Knowing you don't have to worry about cleaning the pen every few days, or having the ink evaporate in a week, is very useful. I only buy pens these days that have a good sealing mechanism.
I've has TWSBI pens hold their seal and stay wet for six months, but some in my fountain pen group say they've had TWSBI pens that drierd up after three months. I think it depends on the ink. I don't know about cheap Platinum pens, but from the 3776 on up, I don't think they're lying abhout staying wet for two years. I haven't let one go that long, but I did allow a 3776 that I didn't use much go well over a year, and it was fine. I'm not sure what the fuss is, though. I'm not sure I know a fountain pen user who intentionally allows a pen to go more than a mopnth, two at the most, without either cleaning it, or refilling it. No one in my fountain pen group does. I don't think it's a good idea at all because even if the pen stays wet, the ink inside the pen can go through very bad changes, particulary in a pen with a barrel made from clear resin/plastic. I often have a lot of pens inked up because I try so many new inks, and test a lot of inks for my fountain pen group. None of them stay inked very long without cleaning out one ink and putting in another. For my personal writing pens, nothing really matters past thirty days. Fountains pens and fountain pen ink are very different from other types of pens, and I don't see a good reason to ink up more pens, or to put mnore ink in one pen, than you can use in a month. I do demand that thirty days of wetness, but I don't really need it. If I have from seven to ten personal pens inked up for the main writing I do, and for writing in from two to four journals every even, all of those pens are going to get used every two or three days. Really, staying dry for long periods means you have ink in a pen, but you're not using that pen at all for months on end, and maybe longer. Why on earth would anyone do that? I can understand it with a ballpoint or gel pen, but it makes no sense with a fountain pen. If yyou aren't going to use it for months, or even for six or eight weeks, clean it out and put it away. Inking it back up takes no time at all. I've found some really nasty surprises inside of fountain pens that have sat unused for too long. I'm not always sure why. I know a water-based ink can evaporate to some degree, even in a metal pen. The evaporated water forms condensation in are part of the reservoir that isn't completely full, and can slowly go right through plastic reservoir, such as a cartridge or converter. I don't know that a plastic barrel would be any different. Not long ago, I let a pen sit for four months to test how long it would stay wet. It was still wet at the end of that time, but something was in the ink that didn't belong there. It looked like a thick, inch and a half long clump of matted hair. I've never seen mold that looked like that. I wouldn't have been surprised to see eyes and teeth all over it, The pen didn't cost much, about tweve dollars or so, and I didn't even try to clean it out. I dropped it in the trash, and I'm still hoping it does sit under the city landfill and turn into something from a horror movie. Anyway, staying wet does not always mean there won't be other problems. Water-based ink just is not made to last forever in anyplace where it can evaporate, or be exposed to the air. Any evaporation that happens in a bottle is usually easy to fix. Just gently shake the bottle, if the water is condensed on the inside, or add a little distilled water, if the water has evapoated through a plastic cap. Once inside a pen, though, it can be a lopt more problematic.
@@jamesaritchie1 Thank for the information! That's interesting about the mold. I've never had issue with that (so far!). To address your question regarding why would people leave ink in a pen that long... well, for me the answer is simple. As an artist, I want to use more than one pen. I found I don't like fineliner pens because the nibs wear away too fast (even with light pressure). Maybe this was a fluke, but I had two pens with their nibs wear away almost instantly. I was so mad I've been looking for an alternate solution for awhile. Years ago I was debating between fountain pens and technical pens. Technical pens look like more trouble - getting clogged often, requiring constant maintenance, and drawing with the pen held perpendicular to the page. Oh, and it's likely they'd not do well on watercolor paper/etc. That leaves fountain pens... sturdy enough to draw on various paper, and you can hold them at different angles. I found through trial and error that some pens have ink evaporate so fast it's like wasting ink if you don't draw all day long with that pen (like the noodler's ahab). I found others last a lot longer, such as my century 3776 UEF. This is useful to me because I use many different art tools (from digital painting, like you can see on my channel, to pencil, ink, watercolor, gouache, oil painting, etc.). I love many kinds of art. I do not want to perform constant maintenance on a pen, and I want it to work when needed. My 3776 has lasted years without issue, just refilling when the ink runs out. Sometimes it will go a two months or so while I work in other art mediums. Then I come back and use it a lot. It's just how my life goes :). Now that I think on it... I did have a weird mold type issue when I let Sketch Ink sit in my brush pen. I cleaned that like crazy and replaced the ink with my normal inks... either DA Artist Black or Carbon Black. Never had an issue with either of those.
TWSBI is the only pen I own that you can set aside for months, pick up and use without issues. They are airtight beyond imagination.
Agreed! - Drew
Months haha, I had one inked for a year and it wrote first time
3 years here, and wrote as soon as it hit the paper. LOL

Superbe présentation de la marque ! c'est précis et complet ... un grand merci pour ce partage d'information. Thank you for sharing this video !
One of the greatest Brands! They are affordable and have a huge tank! I love them!
This was good. Be fun to see more videos like this for other brands
TWSBI Is my favorite fountain pen brand. Such a satisfying video. Really enjoyed this!
Thank you for this video. Spouse and I are pen addicts. Videos like this help me find unusual surprises.
A very thorough video, much appreciated! Thank you!
Thanks for all the info!
Thanks for the info :) as a begginer with pretty bad handwriting whos only ever really used ballpoint pens, this has been great! Fountain pens seem super boring from afar but are actually really interesting when you take a closer look ngl
Wow! This is excellent. Thank you very much for all the information.
I recently bought a TWSBI Eco and even more recently found your channel. If I had known I would have purchased from you. Love your videos. I've been binge watching them. The ECO is a lovely pin and solid performer. I'm trying to decide if I want another ECO or a 580 or something else.
This so so comprehensive. Thanks!
I love your videos!!! I have my first TWSBI on its way (the ECO white) this newbie can’t wait to try
How is your ECO pen?
@@tntmenneke7977 still waiting as it’s wrapped for Xmas!! Gift from my mum
My favorite is the Vac Mini, and I would so love to have it in the iris coloring.
Excellent video of the pens. It was very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for watching! - Drew
As an admitted TWSBI fanboy, I really enjoyed this!
Now I *need* a Precision...
Love my Mini! I have really small hands (I don't even post the Kaweco sport) its been so reliable!
Thank you for another great video and Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays to you as well! - Drew
Just the video I needed! Been looking at getting a twsbi and give my lamy a break.
Need this kind of video for all popular brands please
The youtube rabbit-hole I never expected to dive into. Never had a non-cartridge fountain pen before, and now I have two TWSBI on the way :D
My next twsbi eco black rose smoke exfine keep up the gd work Brian frank in Oswego I'll.
Awesome video! Still haven’t bought one yet but excited to one day in the future! Probably looking at the mini lineup!
The diamond 580 with rainbow trim really caught my eye! I think it would look stunning paired with a shimmer ink! 😍🤩
I want a TWSBI now.
Vac mini with 54th mass blue/black. Favorite pen!
Great video. Thanks. My two TWSBI Swipes are awesome!! So smooth (M & B). I will get the stub next. And they are just fun pens too.
Love that this video taught me that my Eco is actually an Eco T! If I ever knew that, I had completely forgotten 😅
I enjoy my Swipe and use it on a daily basis.
My VAC700R is still my loveliest vacuum type of fountain pen. It is the smoothest steel nip fountain pen I have had.
maybe I'm weird but the pipe is GENIUS!
My TWSBI minis are some of my favorite pens. I absolutely love my Vac 700R in iris, but I need them to make it in a mini! 🌈❤
Hi I would love to know the blue ink used here at 8:08
Very helpful, thank you.
Great info! Thanks!
Great video i just got m first twsbi thank you
Love my Eco and definitely going to check out the Vac mini. I did not know there was a relationship between TWSBI pens and the minis. Thanks.
I'm In the UK and I was about to get an eco pen but they've gone up by around 5 pound. I'll probably look at the swipe instead as I already have a go.
I wasn't sure I'd like the Swipe, but once in my hand I fell in love with it. It write just as well as any of my other TWSBIs, and I enjoy both the large cartridges, and the large converters.
@@jamesaritchie1 it looks a very nice pen. All the twsbis under 40 pounds all use the same nib so should be quite consistent in how they write between models
the Vac 700R is so fucking cool, i love mine, and bought my mom a mini!
A comparison between Platinum slip & seal versus TWSBI would indeed be interesting!
I love TWSBI, the 580s and 700Rs are awesome, they are a staple in my pen rotation.
