    I just picked up Rio, never seen before. The shop I went had a massive ammo collection. The 12 g 1345 fps 9 00 is 4.95 a five pack. I asked the salesman he said they are great. Of course they all say that to sell..

      Hyperinflation X demand spikes = $$$... I think I paid about $0.25 per round for this stuff when I did this video... it was just before cov started.

  • @joshhelcel9724

    The Rio is a good round. It's pretty soft lead and not buffered, so the tightest I can go is a modified choke. The Rio #4 buck 27 pellet is great through a full choke in my setup too. Just pattern your gun. They all shoot buckshot differently...

    I just got some Royal (not low recoil) for a decent price and was wondering about it. I think the box claims 1345 fps for velocity. Depending on your purpose, velocity doesn't really matter too much to me. As long as you hit your target the difference in velocity isn't usually going to matter much at all. It seems like 00Buck for home defense is going to do the job no matter who makes it, as long as it fires, lol. Thanks for the video, well done.

      It fired just as good as any other ammo I have fired through one of my pump shotguns. I didn't run it in an autoloader so I can't comment on that but it had no problems and grouped like most other 00 Buck rounds.

    Nice work. Look into a full choke for tighter groups and extra full for long rang. You’ll be very surprised from the results.

  • @warriorhealth2172
    @warriorhealth2172 2 года назад +2

    You want a harder metal, not the soft lead. Reason being it can deform in the barrel and affect its flight. A hard metal coating is ideal.

  • @chiwawa130
    @chiwawa130 2 года назад +1

    I’m new to shotguns and it seems like they can shoot almost any shotgun shell out there. So if you just use it for home defense and at the range, I would think any shell you use will stop an intruder.

      Yes, but very little... the S&B seemed a bit hotter. This is why I think the chrono results of the S&B were not very accurate. Neither load was that hot. Both were very comfortable to shoot compared to heavy slugs or even turkey loads.

    S&B is good for range fun and that’s it. It’s low powered and the shot is garbage (deforms horribly even through a cardboard target). Do not recommend using it for HD or hunting.

    • @adigaarmory
      @adigaarmory  4 года назад +13

      Not sure, just speculating here... but wouldn't the deformed lead shot be good for terminal ballistics against 2-legged predators if it flattens out a bit on impact?... i.e. more lead and less antimony = softer shot = more surface area = more energy delivery with less over penetration?

      So you're saying that at typical home defense ranges, 10 meters or less, probably way less, that 9 pellets of deformed buckshot aren't going to do the job? I get it , the intruder is going to laugh at you and throw the deformed pellets back because they were ineffective. Got it.
