Mega Hong Kong Watch Safari: Central & Causeway Bay + Did I buy the Grand Seiko SLGH005 White Birch?

- Grab a beer and enjoy a tour of some of my go-to addresses in Hong Kong. There are tons of shops so today we focus on Central and Causeway Bay. If you’ve never been to HK or if it’s been a while, you’ll hopefully enjoy the wandering about in the streets. See what goes on in the mind of a watch addict as he scours the many retail and secondhand shops of the city.

Rolex should just close down their ADs...and sell directly to grey market dealers. No point in having a shop where there are no watches available.
hahaha perfect! good one! regards :)
Bonsoir. Must be very hard to live near to such amazing stock in shops nearby.
Thanks for the vid! I enjoyed the tour a lot, felt I was there with you. Hope you can do more of this kind.
Hope I can go back to HK asap after the flight restrictions are lifted.
“beyond crack smoking” 😂 love the commentary
Awesome tour, thanks! Really enjoy these tours. love that life seems to be getting back to normal everywhere.
Wow big difference from the days of the riots and early covid! That's how I found you my friend, when the riots started, then stayed for the watch goodness
Thanks for the walking street tour through central HK. Brought back fond memories of trips there 30 years ago, in the early 1990s. The place looks a lot more cleaned up, glitzy and orderly now than it did back then. But the crazy crowded cityscape of three decades ago had a certain raffish louche charm all its own 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for the video, great fun! I haven’t been to HK in many years and so was great to see it and to see all of the great watches available.
Thank you for the video. I feel like I was one the journey with you checking out watches. It makes me so keen to get back to Hong Kong to experiance the whole vibe of the place . I enjoyed seeing places I have not been to before in H K . Regards and keep pumping out these great types of video,s . lets rock
Love the tour. Loved the “smoking crack” comment. That’s how I feel about all greys.
Haven't been able to visit in over a year...Missing the dings of the cross walks, thanks for posting this!
Interestingly the Explorer seems rarest, you don't really see that many compared to all the bezeled Subs, GMT's, Exp II's, etc.
Awsome watch window shopping tour man. Thoroughly enjoying it while you made instant commentary. Also see that you at times got distracted in the street with some nice 'view' on two feet - men will be men😂
Great video man! I miss traveling there..had a bunch of laugh with your comment on the GS about not tapering "unlike her" 😂
Excellent Safari, thanks for taking the time.
Thank you for the tour. The white birch clip is funny.😅
My favorite Uptick videos. Thank you👍🏼
Nice watch (the one you were wearing). Thks for the time and effort you put into that 👍
great video. thanks for sharing. can't wait to get back to Hong Kong again for watch shopping.
That's so amazing seeing your videos. When I've been to HK, went to Vintage Concept. Keep it up mate
Great tour. Have not been back since about a year. I hope we will be able to return by Sept or October. Will check up on the stores you suggested.
Mon Ami, I feel so happy to see this video! I can walk down memory lane looking at life in The Fragrant Harbour and enjoy Rolex watches. Double Play ! As that Cathay Pacific ad: Hong Kong: City of Life. Jacky Chan's hometown.
I live around the area and I do this "Watch run" twice a month to see if a miracle in prices will happen. I did not saw that Seiko 5 with a blue dial before. Great Videos!
Glad to Mr. Chung still well. Hope the Covid situation over there is getting better
Go for the White Birch! I saw it a day before release in a JPN department store and it was really cool. The movement was very nice too. Prob is that it's too expensive @1mil yen. They offered a 15% off due to a fair that was starting for a month, making it reasonable, but unfortunately bought myself a IWC le Petit Prince a few days ago so couldn't go for it. I think I will go for the snow-flake though. Tough choice.
Man do I miss just window shopping around HK. Thanks for the share! BTW when in Central u mentioned the new Franck M shop, there use to be a big corner shop in TST in the iSquare bldg...maybe moved to HK island or that one still there? Anyways, love walking around with your videos...can't wait to be there again soon I hope.
Missed travel to HKG especially to get dimsum breakfast...great episode. Cheers..
Man, is there another city with such a high density of retailers!? I would do that window-browsing on a weekly basis. Keep those great videos coming!
Miss HK! did nearly the same walk among the watch spots two years ago.
Really nice video, didn't know there is a watch shop in Apple mall that has a IW371807 in stock. Have been looking to try one out for a while 😂
Uptickwatchreviews yr the best.. i love watching yr blogs Sir....
Great roaming video..only problem I fell asleep part way through 👍
Must be nice to walk around and view watches in Hong Kong. Once Covid is over I definitely have to take a trip.
Yep, got my White Birch back in April down Nathan Road, Jordan.
Same price as what you quoted.
This is the beauty with HK. Even though Rolex is ridiculous, you can get some real sweet deals on other brands if you look hard (or lucky) enough.
The 2x day date rose gold black dials were the high light! Any love for Corum out there?
The walkabout in Hong Kong, (The Fragrant Harbour, Pearl of The Orient. The Jewel in Emperor Qianlong's crown) is the icing on the cake. Love those Rolex watches & commentaries; never get tired of it. Don't watch Austin Daniels no more; no Yen 4 Tokyo scenery. Gov.HK has banned all incoming flights from India; but Carrie has approved incoming flights from Singapore; no need 2 quarantine 4 SG residents fully vaccinated upon arrival in HK & vice versa based on reciprocality for HK residents visiting The Lion City. Due to start May 26 2021; needless to say tix on SQ & CX are Sold Out!
How I wish we could get the addresses of these stores. Nice videos. very informative.
Thanks for taking us along for a fun window shopping outing in HK. I'd much rather opt for the DJ2 with the arabic numerals (over the White Birch.) Grand Seiko- for all their mastery of dials, render the cases / bracelets a bit too sterile for my liking.
Tulip Mania. As your video shows, there is plenty of supply. Imagine the tears when the bubble bursts.
Hong Kong is back in business !!
Excellent video... thank you for the tour!
The Rolex situation is sad!! The Rolex ADs have no professional models on display... not a single watch! Second-hand and gray dealers, on the other hand, have tons and tons of Rolex watches including all hard-to-find models! Many of these watches new! I wonder where they get them from 🤔
The IWC Ingenieur at 1:01:10 with the red number 10 is Zinedine Zidane edition.. It has his face engraved in the back. Cool tour Uptick.. thank you
Another great video. Is the Omiwatari readily available? Sbgy007 what is the pricing and is it being offered a discount? Thank You
OMG "At this point, it's science fiction" LMAO!!!! Yes prices are out of this world but it's due to the new models coming out in a few days. I can tell you what you filmed on display at AD's windows, at least you can find Rolex or AP in person. There are more watches displayed on one store window than what we have in Chicago all 12 Rolex AD's and 2 AP AD's combined. Honk Kong gets all the good stuff. Most of it probably from the US AD's. Can you negotiate prices with some of these shops?
Are most of the watches with box and papers or just the watch?
Most of time will be at Kowloon area while in HK..😁 not sure when can go again..
can they ship to Vietnam, does anyone know?
Perfect
Interesting content. Regards.
"their smoking crack in this shop" lol best comment ever.
that shop that you mentioned that the sales people were trailing you. i think thats where my dad bought his cartier (dec 2019) but its not a new shop but maybe they changed ownership?
They are smoking crack at this store🤣🤣🤣 love this channel. Great content
Can you share which store had the White Birch?
Still not too late for you to get the original Kermit fullset as prices are still not totally insane. Trust me, the green on the aluminium bezel is more lively compared to the ceramic green. You won't regret it.
thanks for vid! all these dealers have so much stock of Rolex that it makes rolex not so special for me, crazy bubble.
Oh they have new cabs in HK now?
Fun fact. At 1:00:12 I'm pretty sure the afro lady was my basketball coach back in Portugal when I was a kid. She's now living in HK. And now I see her in a watch safari video from a Belgian guy. World is small
she’s wearing a mask and is 5 meter away from the camera. Good thing you recognized her 🤫
Nice one . I would have bought the iwc
How is the food in Hong Kong
Where about in Hongkong is this watch store?
Get the White Birch!!!
Which shop do you go in HK to get a deal?
請問您~你用乜嘢相機拍攝架?
More videos of available oysterperpetuals please, especially from the Rolex AD. Thanks for the videos.
Easy. If there’s a premium or good deal to be made, they want a piece of it, so nothing is ever on display. You can’t even ask.
Grand seiko is my next watch.
Anybody sells zenith chronomaster sport already?
More please.....
the shop that bought your stolen watch should have kept a record of the seller's info. that's what they do in some other shops to check if the watch is stolen.
Yup, they kept a record of a fake ID...
Is there many shops in HK selling vintage watches like Omega and other old famous brands?
Sure, here and there you can find them. It’s too complicated for most dealers, they stick to modern watches
@@UptickWatchReviews Guess these dealers just targeting quick and high volume turanaround over slow and steady sales
Get the white birch with a suede strap!
you should check out ivan watches near vintage Concept they have more vintage watches
Funnily I had missed on Ivan Watches until today when I checked out their collab with Wristcheck in the Landmark Basement.
Hong Kong only need the travel bubble to be opened with Singapore to jump start both city's economy.
Do what you want but hearing you talk yourself out of or into a watch is hilarious.
Nice tour of the city. Is anybody actually buying these watches? It’s like some weird pyramid scheme
Hands up if you watched this whole video!
Imagine my pain of going through it five times to edit it from three hours to this
Thanks for U.S. to H.K. $ conversions on prices. AAA+++
Love your content. My question is, are the majority of those Rolexes fake. The massive amounts of inventory is insane. They are most certainly asking real prices! Brilliant! Cheers mates!!
The thing we should worry about is that is all real. Not many models are truly rare which is why clever dealers segmented the market by dial variations to spruce up the prices. The modern stuff is even less rare as Rolex does all themselves and models see little to no variation for the whole production span. I think skydwellers are the least produced and therefore worth a look but even those are not rare by any means. You can find rarer Zenith El Primero than El Primero Daytona, which doesn’t mean, yet, that their value will jump.
@@UptickWatchReviews I would love to hang out with you for a few days. Your passion and knowledge seems endless. This is only wishful thinking as I don’t see Beijing in my near or distant future! Brilliant! Cheers mate!!
rolex and ap etc are very common in asia, quite a lot of ppl have them and in fact many have them but don't wear them...and they're genuine alright. It's not as common in north america and EU though.
@@Mega-zi7ys I didn’t know that. Thank you for responding!
@@Tubefish07 you're welcome .. incase you need a different perspective feel free to ask 🙂
Best regards
45:50 - There are things more interesting than watches in Hong Kong :)
20:36 hahahah
Tres bon Safari. Par contre j'ai bien senti comme une envie d'aquerir une AP....
Rolexes literally everywhere. Yet none of them in the AD's. Sad.
UK prices are higher.
As a visitor without knowing which smaller shops are genuine I'd be scared the watches would be fakes.
In general fakes are not an issue in those shops that I show. What you’ll need to watch for is condition
@@UptickWatchReviews Thanks. When international travel resumes HK is likely to first place I'll go so it'll be good to know where to go to. In Sydney you'll never see a Sub let alone Daytona on display.
Love the commentary but your smoking crack to pass up the white gold cream dial skydweller
I heard Seiko's customer service is awful. Especially when it comes to Grand Seiko's.
It takes months and is nowhere near Omega standards
No shortage of Rolex sports watches then all made up bullshit they are no harder to get than a casio or seconda 🤣😂🤣😂
Iwc is gawwbage
