I saw this in one of the many Glick marathon youtube videos I regularly watch and had to come find the whole thing. John was great in his ease of laughter while remaining serious on many important points, but Short's ability to get him rolling in laughter is a credit to both of them. will be revisiting this one!
I'm going down the Jiminy Glick rabbit hole and can't stop watching these videos! It all started now when he hosted Jimmy Kimmel's show. He was HYSTERICAL! THIS one with John Sally is REALLY funny!
When you think something is hysterical, then go into the comments and see people thought the jokes and banter were all dead serious and start talking about "the race card". Do these people also think Jiminy Glick is a real person?????
Am I the only one who thought Cassius Clay was also a badass name? Either way is a winner, but, why fix what is not broken? Then again, why not have two badass names?
It's improvised and the reality is that the first improvisational idea the giant black guy has is to falsely claim a racial slur and threaten his host with the Nation of Islam which is a militant islamic group known for issuing fatwas. Marty called John, Tom... not A TOM... The threats and race baiting weren't subtle unless you're completely ignorant of reality.
"Salley seems to have a chip on his shoulder about race." No, you seem to. Marty and John both thought the are you calling me a monkey, bringing up "Cassius Clay," etc. etc. stuff was funny.
a good one, salley getting jiminy back on his heels, but jiminy finding his groove very quickly, loved the tit for tat in this one, and how it got real a couple times.
Marty is up there with Chappelle and Norm Macdonald. The part about how he has a lot of racist friends but that's less important than the inconvenience of starting up a whole new poker game is improv satire, and there's a reason you don't hear people say "improv satire" very often. John's callback to "monkey" shortly after "I don't want to get anyone angry at me" was really well timed too.
If any of you had actually watched John Salley on anything else you’d know he’s a good natured guy. Always smiling and ready to laugh. He was playing along with Jiminy to make things awkward. Give the silly comments a rest. You can tell y’all only pay attention to black people when they are playing a sport.
I don't understand the hate here for John Salley. Maybe something in his life outside this interview (I don't know much about him) but I thought he was fine in this interview. Made for a funny back and forth.
Shut the fuck up. No, he didn't. It's possible that maybe he took the name thing A LITTLE BIT seriously but he did not indirectly threaten violence in any serious way. The whole thing is a bit which he was obviously going along with until the very end. Ya know, there absolutely is a problem with people pushing an unnecessary racial agenda in this country and YOU ARE ONE THOSE PEOPLE. You WANT this to be racist so it can fit your agenda of purporting that any black person who mentions (or in this case, alludes to in a humorous manner) the topic of race is racist. By the way, who the fuck is Blake???
"I don't understand the hate here for John Salley." He's black. Glad I could help. If you've heard John talk about the depth of his admiration for Larry Bird, e.g., you know that his silly shtick here -- exactly where silly shtick belongs -- flew right over some people's heads.
I'm pretty sure Cassius's fanatic Christian daughter totally capitalized on her father's passing... it's almost like she enjoyed it. Amazing how much tension there is between the two religions. I think we'd do better without all that religious security.
Sticky Glick was my name. I boxed in the Army, which is interesting, because I was in the Navy.
That last part went under the radar because people were still laughing at the first part.
best thing i ever heard
Sticky Glick was my porn name. All straight but the name just stuck
That "did you call me a kettle" line was brilliant
Their play and chemistry was super interesting and funny. One of the best Glick interviews.
I am so past my bedtime just going from Glick to Glick like a Zombie...
feel it, can never just watch one
Same
Same but 3years after you
Glick bait
“I don’t wanna get anyone angry cause I have SO many enemies...” 😂
"Who do you think killed Kennedy?" Hahaha, that was so out of nowhere.
It was a propos him saying "I got so many enemies" then asks this 😂
John Salley is great. One of the best personalities in sports.
dang martin short is quick with the comedy that dude is funny
I have a new favorite Jiminy interview. This was the best!!
I saw this in one of the many Glick marathon youtube videos I regularly watch and had to come find the whole thing. John was great in his ease of laughter while remaining serious on many important points, but Short's ability to get him rolling in laughter is a credit to both of them. will be revisiting this one!
"Did you call me a kettle?"
So Glick invented awkward silence interviews too.
Damn I was really hoping to hear who he thought killed Kennedy
I'm going down the Jiminy Glick rabbit hole and can't stop watching these videos! It all started now when he hosted Jimmy Kimmel's show. He was HYSTERICAL! THIS one with John Sally is REALLY funny!
Hey man, don’t call Jiminy fat. He’s just puffy, it’s a boxing injury.
Sticky Glick they used to call him...
WOW salley is cool.
"I have soooo many enemies" lol
When you think something is hysterical, then go into the comments and see people thought the jokes and banter were all dead serious and start talking about "the race card". Do these people also think Jiminy Glick is a real person?????
LOL!! Exactly!! Im sure they all believe the earth is flat too.
dont insult us flat earthers by putting us in with Idiot SJWs
Tom Salley is a natural.
Why do all Jiminy Glick videos look like they've been filmed with a potato?
They never put the full series on DVD so many of the episodes were only available because people recorded them with a VHS tape.
John Sallee played this perfectly.
Sticky Glick
If you wanna feel super fucking old....John Salley is almost 60yo right now.
Salley was actually legit hilarious.
He was great on "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper".
Come for the insults stay for the insults
@2:55 I spit out my water !! CLASSIC set up and punch !! { it starts @2:46
Nicely done. Timely too.
John Salley drafted his bodyguards from NOI. That’s entertainment.
hilarious!
Do you like jubejubes?
yeah, I do!
So do I!
*silence
I, too, watched this video.
Good interview a clash of the titans..I wouldn't wanna clash with John jiminy is fearless 🤣🤣🤣
Its a part of the joke smart guy
I wanted to like but it’s at 666 and I don’t wanna ruin it
i loved this and that black dude was cool. I do not know his politics but he
can laugh at himself and well most people just cant do that.
I liked John Salley in Magnum PI
Enemies , gotta lotta enemies
"Do you like joob-joobs?". I love how he says that.
But he is a older sports guy. Was he on pistons of 80s/90s w issah tomas then Seattle supersonics.
How shocking...a black guy going to the race card within 6 seconds of being in a white guys chill zone.
Am I the only one who thought Cassius Clay was also a badass name? Either way is a winner, but, why fix what is not broken? Then again, why not have two badass names?
Religion. They changed their "slave names".
No the first name was way better.
There’s a Muslim comedian who has a bit on that and how Cassius sounds so cool I saw him years ago
"sticky"
how big are those feet?!
I love ALL Jiminy Glick interviews... except this one. Salley's race card bullshit is a real buzzkill.
EazyEVM you're an idiot
It was all planned out beforehand.
"Salley's race card bullshit" Sigh. Marty started out by calling John a "Tom." It was all in good fun, two witty guys.
I think this is actually one of the better interviews because Salley is so serious and Martin Short plays off the tension so well.
I'm not impressed with Salley. Glick is funny!
Like waking on eggshells....
!
wow, john salley tried to pull the race card like 8 times in this interview
It was a joke...
no one cares except you racist fucks
Ripe for the baiten
A lot of Trump lovers commenting on this funny bit, unfortunately some don't get the bit and are looking from a M.A.G.A point of view.
@clarence crawford...to your comment about Trump supporters...are you talking about jussie smollets attackers racist clarence?
The hell does some Zionist have to do with any of this?
As opposed to you wanting to make America a communist shit hole!!!
Salley seems to have a chip on his shoulder about race. I mean he tries to play it for laughs, but it's disconcerting. Shame :(
"Salley seems to have a chip on his shoulder about race." No, you seem to. Marty and John both thought the are you calling me a monkey, bringing up "Cassius Clay," etc. etc. stuff was funny.
No he doesn’t
you can tell he's actually mad lmao
seriously
sdwhitesox no he isn't...at all
No. You can't tell that. You can just imagine that and type it though, like you did.
He isn't. He's playing along.
No he’s not. John Salley is always good natured. Please stop.
"I always loved the circus."
Oy. 🤡🎪🎠🎡
lol holy crap martin short is fearless
John Salley was quick! "No, no, no.... I called you the pot."😂
That was great! ....'You see that fat boy run', lol😂😂😂😂John definitely gave as good as he got!
That’s not “quick”. He just explained what he said earlier. “The pot calling the kettle black.” The pot is Jiminy.
he was
I loved this one. I thought John Salley was very fun, and a great sport.
He was fully aware of what he was getting into. I'm quite sure he's just another fan of Jiminy and loves this shtick he does on his show.
Indeed! Their chemistry was super interesting and fun. One of the best Glick interviews.
"Are you calling me a monkey?"
"No, I'm calling you a freak."
Back in my P.D. life, for a shift I was John's security during his visit to my city...cool dude.
Their chemistry was super interesting and fun. One of the best Glick interviews.
The “ who do you think killed Kennedy “ was so freakin random, I love it.
“Did you see that fat boy run?”
"And that was my wife you hit on back stage" LOL!
a good one, salley getting jiminy back on his heels, but jiminy finding his groove very quickly, loved the tit for tat in this one, and how it got real a couple times.
In these interviews it’s usually better to play the straight one, but Salley is able to be straight and super funny at the same time.
He did pretty well. Much better than the actors. Well done.
This is Harlious. Edgey Humor.
Some funny lines in this interview. Mohammed Clay or Cassius Ali, what could go wrong?
I thought Jiminy was gonna say "that's two names" when John said "His name is Muhammad Ali".
"I got so many enemieeeeezz"
“Did you call me a kettle?” 🤣😂🤣.
John looks like he's wearing skis.
Doodah Man hahaha
I thought they were submarines. At the least submarine sandwiches.
If any of you had actually watched John Salley on anything else you’d know he’s a good natured guy. Always smiling and ready to laugh. He was playing along with Jiminy to make things awkward. Give the silly comments a rest. You can tell y’all only pay attention to black people when they are playing a sport.
1:59 Martin Shorts timing is amazing hahaha
The Spider did well. Hilarious clip. Thanks for sharing.
"no I didn't call you a kettle...I called you a pot" lol
genius!!
It would seem this interview is too witty for a lot of the viewers..
Six and a half minutes of hilarious banter about absolutely nothing.
Funny for a basketball player.
I don't understand the hate here for John Salley. Maybe something in his life outside this interview (I don't know much about him) but I thought he was fine in this interview. Made for a funny back and forth.
he indirectly threatened violence from his security if Blake did not retract some words he spoke. that's very simply animalistic, racist , oppressive
Elmnopen Blake who? What are you referencing?
Elmnopen so you think he threatened a fictional character?...
"I don't understand the hate here for John Salley." He's black. Glad I could help.
If you've heard John talk about the depth of his admiration for Larry Bird, e.g., you know that his silly shtick here -- exactly where silly shtick belongs -- flew right over some people's heads.
Damn this instantly leapfrogged so many of my favorite Glick interviews.
Salley is hilarious playing along.
Dude seemed to be wound too tight, very touchy!!
@@kevdean9967 yeah it was terrible
Wow. So many of you jumping all over Salley's race and being unable to take a joke.
salley cant talk for more than 30 seconds without bringing up his race
"HUMPTY DUMPTY" comes to life !!
I’m a big fan of that GUYYY
"Did you just call me a kettle?" Literally genius upon genius
Did you call me a kettle?
Wow, Martin is Short!
TheGuyWithTheThing OnTheTable I think I was also going for a play on his name
You would never think this would be one of the very best of these interviews but it certainly is.
cascius clay changes his name in 1964
@Wes 76 whatcha talking bout Willis? Clay changed his name in '64 fucker. It don't have fuck all to do with the white man!
😂😂😂
John Salley played for Panathinaikos 💚
Never heard of him
Lol, "Did you call me a kettle?"
"You see that fat boy run?"
Just proving that I watched to the very end.
too bad theyre not really playing their instruments.
Fun
is this the only black guy Jiminy interviewed?
Also Ice Cube lol
watch it again. the opposite is what is going on.
Wow, that was tense.
“Did you call me a monkey?”
that was unconfortable
I don’t like the way Salley threatens Jiminy with his Nation of Islam thug bodyguards. Doesn’t shine a good light on that religion!
NAF is a sect and not real Islam to begin with
Jiminy Glick, the personification of negative white man within every black man.
I'm pretty sure Cassius's fanatic Christian daughter totally capitalized on her father's passing... it's almost like she enjoyed it. Amazing how much tension there is between the two religions. I think we'd do better without all that religious security.
