Firstly, Clint has had this conversation NUMEROUS times in his life with Jords teachers and therapists etc. Another was that he had an excuse for every behavior Jorb had. “He drinks because he has trauma” and it’s kind of frustrating to see. Blaming Josh’s trolls for his alcoholism is far more damaging than I think Clint realizes. It basically gives Josh a scapegoat and excuse to never take responsibility or have to go to AA. “I don’t have a problem because If my trolls stopped harassing me, I wouldn’t drink!!” Which is very far from the truth. One of the biggest things we learn in AA is to stop blaming everyone else for why we drink. It doesn’t matter WHY, Clint.

Idk, but for whatever reason I know a high proportion of Special Ed teachers, etc that have addict children they enable. That said, he needs AL-ANON just as badly as Josh needs AA/NA. I'm not a big fan of the 12-step program for getting clean, but I've heard really good things about the program for family members and their enabling of the addict. Also, in response to your original comment, Josh has been to jail before so maybe Clint isn't as successful as a father as you may have thought. Josh being in a group home, on the other hand, would arguably be a greater indication of Clint being a successful parent because it would mean that he would have accepted that his son has significant problems living alone and got him the help he clearly needs. This is actually super heartwarming. My sons father / my fiancé died unexpectedly from an epileptic seizure on Christmas Day so things like this have been helping distract me.

It was nice to see and get this perspective from Clint but I got a few things from it. Firstly, Clint has had this conversation NUMEROUS times in his life with Jords teachers and therapists etc. Another was that he had an excuse for every behavior Jorb had. “He drinks because he has trauma” and it’s kind of frustrating to see. I just don't get it, in another comment you guys say josh should take responsibility for himself, and stop drinking. You also say that Clint needs to show some more tough love. Blaming Josh’s trolls for his alcoholism is far more damaging than I think Clint realizes. It basically gives Josh a scapegoat and excuse to never take responsibility or have to go to AA. “I don’t have a problem because If my trolls stopped harassing me, I wouldn’t drink!!” Which is very far from the truth.
One of the biggest things we learn in AA is to stop blaming everyone else for why we drink. It doesn’t matter WHY, Clint.

This is shifting the blame of Josh's alcoholism from him and on to the trolls. He's repeated this sentiment multiple times before this interview as well. It's textbook enabling - Josh will never improve if people in his life, especially his dad, refuse to challenge him and instead make excuses for his addictions that are clearly ruining his life more than trolls.
Also, in response to your original comment, Josh has been to jail before so maybe Clint isn't as successful as a father as you may have thought. Josh being in a group home, on the other hand, would arguably be a greater indication of Clint being a successful parent because it would mean that he would have accepted that his son has significant problems living alone and got him the help he clearly needs. Y'know, instead of pretending that everything is fine while Josh drinks and dusts himself to death in his hovel.
This is actually super heartwarming. My sons father / my fiancé died unexpectedly from an epileptic seizure on Christmas Day so things like this have been helping distract me.

Clint having a clean room compared to Josh is so surreal and the fact that Josh is there just makes it look like he doesn't belong in a neat and clean room like what his Dad has in here
Also, the naive part of me wants to believe that clint was indeed a decent parent to josh, just that he tried everything he could to make Josh a decent person but failed only because Josh is really unwilling and very unrulling who is stuck with the rebellious phase in his life and never wanted to mature. I think people put pressure on to clint way to much, but I dunno from just this video makes me want to believe that he is infact a good parent and has simply gave up trying to change Josh.
