Also, throw pillows. I don’t have multiple decorative ones. I use pillow covers for the different holidays and put them over my everyday throw pillow. Saves space and money. I store the pillow cover in the matching holiday bin when the holiday season ends.

Love it. I am in search of some good pillow covers myself - I want to change up my couch without buying full new pillows :)

Ice cream cart ice cream! When I was a kid in the 80’s my mom actually called it the “rip off cart”. We couldn’t afford it anyway. So she would buy us a whole container of ice cream and show us the value of the item. Smart mama!

New cars. I always look for a well-maintained car with 50-60,000 miles and find they are a much better deal. Don't buy from dealers. It's fairly easy to find a good quality used car and buy direct from the owner. I'll pay my mechanic $100 or so to give it a thorough check and review, and I've had great luck. Put out the word and find a friend of a friend or other reputable source for the car. Ask to see the maintenance records and enjoy your bargain!

I just started using conditioner in place of shaving cream a few months ago! I do usually go thru conditioner slower than shampoo and I had run out of shaving cream. I have sensitive skin and noticed my skin was less irritated with the conditioner and better moisturized than when I use shaving cream. I was so happy with the results I never bought new shaving cream!

We live in Las Vegas. The tap water is extremely hard and tastes terrible. All the waste water from interior plumbing (housing and hotels) gets filtered and recycled. For cooking I use filtered water from the refrigerator dispenser and run it through a Britta filter. It still doesn’t taste that good. So for drinking, yeah I buy bottled water.

Thanks for the video! Just started my minimalism journey a year ago :) On the topic of farmed salmon, there are certainly bad salmon farms but there are also responsible fish farms. Check out Kvaroy Arctic, for example-their fish have no antibiotics, hormones, or artificial colorants. I love their salmon hot dogs, along with their fillet. If you've heard of the cute tinned fish brand Fishwife, their salmon is the one that Fishwife sources and uses in their tins. Some other good fish farms (not salmon) are Kingfish (Dutch Yellowtail), Blue Ocean Mariculture, and Riverence. But it's always important to ask questions about where our food comes from, so glad you brought this up :)

For batteries 11:25 - Project Farm channel did a very comprehensive analysis on battery longevity per penny (Amazon Basics one did pretty well). Also, for knives, Brian Lagerstrom (a pro chef) did a great video explaining why he prefers using a $35 Dexter knife compared to a $800 Japanese or German knife, so while it's true that you should avoid a dirt cheap knife from a dollar store, paying a lot more probably isn't a great idea either.

Dresses for a special occasion. I try to buy so that I can wear them over again. I pick fabric patterns that can be used on other occasions. I also buy them on sale. I’m not spending a lot of money on a dress or outfit that I might wear a few times a year.

I was totally against the fortnight online purchases too (skins or something? lol). But as my boys got older and have everything under the sun, I changed my mind. I gave the gift cards to them as holiday/birthday gifts so they can purchase these things. Sure does cut down on the clutter of nonsense gifts they won’t use 😉

Purses and tote bags. I bought an investment purse that is any season friendly. I bought a 8$ big tote from old navy. I found out i rarely use a tote.

I won't be buying microfiber cloths because they shed microplastics that have been found in the water supply after treatment. I can't speak to the effectiveness of household water filtration systems but the toxins are still harmful to aquatic life and any farming applications.
I won't buy more laundry sheets until a plant-based solution is available. They are marketed as an environmentally friendly option but I've learned that they contain plastic that can get in the water supply as well. Laundry pods are also a no-go for the same reason.

The same goes for clothing made of synthetic fabrics like polyester - fleece sheds especially bad.

Thank you so much! We actually use a water filter on our fridge and use the water from there for cooking and drinking. Our house is so old that we have a lead pipe as our main water pipe! The filter we use is Everydrop by Whirlpool and I know it works well because I had our water lab tested :)

I buy the flosser’s w/ handles for my child.
    I do get Red Bull.
Agree with farm raised salmon… gross! Also no sugar free, fat free.
I will buy some off ingredients and then just look for ways to use it up. Speaking of, need to use up some capers…. Hmmm

What about using mineral water from natural sources in woods or really bottled mineral "alive" water in the shop. Or do you thing "dead" water from the tap with lot of chlorine and other chemicals will be alive after you filter it??? If you think abou health, dead water is dead.
