Very interesting, although I do not know Tunstall. I was impressed with the huge Town Hall that provided local government services; similar buildings exist elsewhere in the city. As the city commemorates its centenary next year in 2025 I hope that the history of the pre-city boroughs will not be forgotten.

Great video ....never knew Farndale Street was originally John Street...Only thing though: The Cottage Hotel (pub) was only ever called The Cottage as far as I know. I grew up very close to the pub and my best mate lived there. Double Diamond on the picture is probably an advertisement, and a reference to the ale/beer they stocked.

I left Tunstall over 50 years ago. Brings back lots of memories, the baths, the Golden Torch ( which was the Regent cinema before it was turned into the Golden Torch, the cinema’s nickname was the ‘bug hut’😅). Great video but you need a radio mic to improve the audio quality.

What a lovely video. Sad to see all that faded glory. My nan used to live in Tunstall and I visited her every weekend. It was a special place for me. Would love to know where you get all those old pictures. They’re incredible, particularly the ones with busy street scenes and people going about their business. Thanks for this. It really took me back.
