I've been making this bread for my family for years now, it's one of my absolute favorites! Takes a little practice to get it right, but 100% worth the effort.
I let it sit until room temp 30 minutes and it was fine! Bread was perfect!! I make ALOT of bread and never let a slurry sit 12 hours?!? Theres no yeast in it - its not a "sponge" or sourdough so its not logical to let it sit that long!
Great! I did not let the slurry sit for 12 hours just until room temperature. I did not use a bread machine just mixed it up like a regular bread recipe liquid, yeast, sugar , then slurry, flour, salt and butter. Kneaded with kitchen aid dough hook. Two 30 minute rises- then bake! Beautiful pillowy milk bread! A+++

Thank you for this wonderful recipe! I already did it 3 times and it is so delicious. After the first try I changed the amount of sugar (half of it) and salt (double), so I have a kind of bread thats also good with cheese and not just sweet things :)

I made this bread today, came out better than I expected it to be actually. It's my very first time making bread! Thank you Cooking Tree! It's a very long process to make this bread, glad I have the patience to make this 😁 but mine was not as fluffy as theirs. Overall it was amazing and definitely worth the time to make this delicious bread 😄
@@daffydaffodil2458 you're welcome! 😊 But I didn't use unsalted butter, I used margarine which is salted and added less salt since I didn't have any unsalted butter or butter. So I think that was the reason why it didn't turn out as fluffy as cooking tree's 😄😅
@@Star-mn7gr I don't think so (I'm not an expert) but there's another video that said to refrigerate it for 6 hours from "Umi's baking". So I think you can follow that instead if you want 😄

I tried your recipe. It was good, but the fermentation time was a bit off. It took around 1h15 for the second time, instead of 30 minutes. Otherwise it was a success. Thanks :)
i've tried this recipe 2 times and my dough is still very sticky after kneading and im not sure what's wrong ): i couldn't even touch the dough to remove it from the bowl as it's too sticky.. i added flour little by little and it was slightly better but still sticks to my fingers a little.
You gotta knead it (gentle kneading and not forceful/aggressive tearing of the dough) also do not add any flour when kneading because that disrupts the flour/liquid ratio. If you kneaded the dough for 10 minutes by hand, let it rest for a minute and go over again as needed.
Ive made this bread already (cause of the video) and its suuuper nice but i have a question: why do you need to do that first step with flour and water? Im not really smart when it comes to kitchen stuff 😂😅

For how long have u been kneading the dough? Mine after 10 minutes was ultra sticky.
PD: I used the exact measures.
PD2: I knead by hand

use bread flour, it will come out better because bread flour has higher protein

Why do you refrigerate the tangzhong overnight before using it?
Idk what I did wrong but the dough was very sticky. I added flour but that didn't work. I followed the recipe to a tee.
