John, thank you for the 12 1/2 years of hard work that you did for our company, you were an important part during the years of our biggest growth and we appreciate that. We are thankful that God has blessed our company every day for 42 years and trust Him for the years ahead, and pray that He will bless your new endeavor also. Our continued prayers for your family, Mike and Kim Cook.
You lost a wonderful employee because you didn't want to listen to someone that had your back for all the years. Sad you guys basically pushed him out. You will find people like this are very hard to come by. Think about this when the next time someone comes to you on how to change or fix things.
@@bradh7472 your ignorance is amazing. There are two sides to every story and John is really good at making his version of reality known. Mike and Kim, however, will never stoop that level. John was blessed to be able to work there and learn and grow as he did.
@@rosannapurvis2022 Well thanks for the compliment of having amazing ignorance. Yes there are two sides I understand. Hopefully they do exceptionally well without John, then it can be proven he wasn't needed.
Mike's company is going through a common issue, going from 'Mom and Pop' operation, where everyone knows everyone well, to full corporate entity. Many companies fail at this point. But if they can make it through, it will continue to grow. I also had to leave a company (rather dramatically) for this reason.
While I've never personally been in a situation - where I worked with family, I know that it often has its own set of challenges. Add to that the tragic death of a love one, figuring out life after the loss of said love one and navigating thru the new dynamics of everyday life had to be stressful for all. I sincerely hope that now that the employment relationship has been fractured - obviously with some hard feelings - that as Christians and good people that in time some wounds will heal and that the adults can restore their "family" dynamics to the point that your children's relationship to their maternal grandparents is strong and happy as it was when things were going smoother. There will always be a multitude of ways to make a living (jobs) and in an ideal world one should seek out one that makes them happy. There is no substitute for a the special relationship between a child and a set or two of loving grandparents and vise versa. Best of luck to all and I've really enjoyed the videos you have put out the 18 months or so since I discovered you.
I was just thinking about you this week how I haven't seen a video in a wile. I'm going to miss the chipper videos but looking to your new venture. Phil.4:19
Thanks for the up date. Your long time viewers are going to support you as you move forward in your life. BTW ~ That Chipper Guy can still be used for the Tile business . You know, the guy that gets called to fix chipped tile .
My dad had his own company laying tile and flooring for 50 years he did that so I kind of know where you're coming from thank you man good luck good field to get into thanks Gary
I'm goin thru some of the same stuff at work myself. It's all the little things that dont get fixed and build up to bigger problems. Stay safe and do your thing man
One lesson I’ve learned in life, nothing is forever. You’re a good guy with a fantastic family on you team. Things will fall in place as the days go on. Family first, I’ll be watching.
Good for you! Your reasonings are the exact same as what mine were when I changed jobs a few months back. Kudos for making choices to better yourself and make yourself happier!
Been a subscriber for years- always have loved your enthusiasm for working in the woods. I know it’s tough to walk away from that but everyone needs a change eventually. Best wishes for the future. I’ll keep watching as long as you film.
Well sorry that this venture has come to an end. Best of luck to you. It was good meeting you years ago. Hopefully whatever you get into doing you get quality time with your family
Good to here from ya man! Gotta do what’s best for YOU and your family. Keep on rollin and enjoy every minute you can. Only question I have is, will you miss the woods?
John I'll be happy to watch whatever you want to post. It's been my experience that the larger a company gets the more they tend to forget who got them there. Those companies don't usually last for the long haul. They tend to not be able to keep people working for them. I'm glad you are happy with the change. Being happy is important. Nobody wants to go to work everyday and be miserable. God bless brother.
Glad your doing something you enjoy! Look forward to seeing the videos you put out. Everything works out in the end, if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.
Sometimes changes is needed to keep your head level, I quit a job with 16 years seniority and almost 5 weeks holidays and bought a skidder to work in the bush. I love what I do now and would never go back.
Hey John it’s good to hear from you. We’re behind you either way, you do what’s best for you and your family. Keep it rollin man. It seems like we’re just worried about a number too, we chip also.
Started doing tile work 20 years ago. Similar situation as yours. Hard on the knees. Hard on the back. Great for the soul. I sleep well every night. Turn out what ever you want. I’ll even watch tile videos, might get some tips from you.
Sounds like Chipper Guy gave the logging co more loyalty than they deserved. It is called 'freeing yourself to pursue a new path' (rather than quitting).
I always enjoyed your chipper videos because my dad was a supervisor at a chip plant here in Maine from the early 70’s to 1998 when it was closed due to the paper company they made chips for “Boise Cascade” sold out to a Chinese company. They made high quality chips for making paper. They chipped hardwood (except oak) and hemlock. It was a nice setup. Two cranes that rode on a track. Under the cranes was a main chain that carried the logs to the debarker. When the logs came out of the debarker they rode on another chain to the chipper. Their was another crane which believe it or not was electric!!! That helped the logs go into the throat of the chipper. Once the chips came out they went way up high on a conveyor and dropped onto a series of big steel shaker screens. Any chips too big went back thru a re chipper. Chips too small and sawdust went to the sawdust pile. The good quality chips went back up a conveyor and into the blower that blew them into the big possum belly trailers. The chipper ran on electricity. ALOT of electricity lol. So with that being said I totally understand what you went through. I have been in similar situations myself. But I always look at it that you only live once. Sometimes change is the last thing you wanna do after doing something most of your life. Especially if you have a big family that relies on you. But I have found that change is good. And just by your facial reactions it’s pretty obvious that your VERY happy with what you are doing now. And I’m happy for you. I think once you get your new adventure in life all situated you should do some videos showing us how you do tile work ETC. sorry for the long message lol. Good luck to you and looking forward to seeing your next video. God bless you and your family and as always WORK SAFE 🇺🇸🇺🇸😎😎
I will miss you. I've learnt a lot from your work with the equipment. Thank you, and all the best for you and your family in the future. For every one in the office, the Company requires 3 people in the field.
John, thanks for your videos. Years ago my father and I ran a saw mill and worked a bit in the woods with an older iron mule, jonsered saws and a 10 cord self loader. It was a side gig and I went another way after college but sawdust still courses through my veins so I really liked watching the newer equipment in your videos. Given the pressures of working in the woods I truthfully was surprised the vids lasted as long as they did. I wish you the best in the future. Working in the woods is … work which will help you wherever you go. Coincidentally, a Cook crew is working very close to my subdivision and there was quite a plume of black smoke from the cut this morning. I’m hoping it wasn’t serious and there were no injuries. I really like to see a Logger make it so I also wish the best to the Cooks as well. Best, Scott
I'm glad to see you back wondering where you have been. I'm sorry things didn't work out for the best. But sometimes it's good to make a change for the better that makes you happy. I wish you luck on your new adventure. As I will look forward to see what your up to in the videos to come. On another note. Where you are doing tile work now. I totally feel you I worked for a land cleaning company for 20 years and 2 years ago I had to walk away and started something new and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and now that I look back it was the best thing I’ve done.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I worked for a company for 36years and one day I said enough is enough. Now you can change your name to THE TILE GUY. Take care and have a blessed week.
Appreciation goes a long way. Them saying it only make them feel better, showing it and acting on it is a complete other. Good for you to jump right into something different.
Now you feel free right enjoy it do what you want I've been My Own Boss 38 years I haul scrap metal for a living I love the challenge of it everyday is always a new challenge of it
All that matters is that your happy, awesome you started your own tile business, the renovation in residential an commercial business right now is booming, that's awesome your doin tile, it's an art for sure, thanks for sharing buddy 🇺🇸🇺🇸god bless
You have gone through more personal things than most ever will and you have to do what makes you happy and or keep your sanity. As far as a name could be called the clipper guy. I'm also betting us as a viewer community would have no problems calling you for a tile job if needed. They dont call it a family for nothing. I would be very interested in seeing some finished jobs even if you put out short clips.
John, talk about "da-ja-vu"! Same thing I went thru back in 2010. I walked away, got my CDL's and what a relief! No doubt you sleep better at night. Thanks for sharing!!!
Nice to see you, John. I had a feeling things weren't going so well at the company, you had said they told you not to record on a few jobs. onward and upward, nothing sucks worse than being beat down at a dead end job. I hope your new work keeps you busy, happy and fulfilled- financially and otherwise. Still working on the new house? hey, you can still be That Chipper Guy, just show some shots of you using nippers to edge a shape out of some tile. Would that make you That Nipper Guy? I dunno, this requires more thought than I am currently capable of. Anyhow, y'all have a good one. Nice to see you.
Made the right move John if you are not happy when you go to work then leave. Work should be a joy not a chow, great to see a happy face on you keep up the happy tiling.
John, I am glad that you have moved on. As a old retired business owner, I often have said " You never really knows what some does until they leave." Mike and Kim are in the process of learning that right now. Just a few words of advice...... You can not change the past and do not need to explain it to anyone. You have had very difficult past few years and you have done your best to pick up the pieces and move on. Dealing with anger and grieving is one of the most difficult challenges we all face in life. God gave us all a mind but he does not make the decisions for us. I could feel your pain in this video. Try to use your energy to build on your future not explaining to the world what has occurred in the past. You will make it though this chapter of life and on to a better future!!
This is why I cant stand working for family businesses. You never get anywhere. You would think since you father the owners grand kids that you would be at the top of the food chain with quite a bit of pull. Sounds like it's not the case.
Glad your doing great John!!! Glad your happy being out on your own and doing your own thing!! Also the old saying is snitches get stitches!!! 🤣🤣 My question is how the truck running?? What was wrong with it?
I had the same thing at my old work place, 14 years in foresty and I just become stale, the machines were getting older more breakdowns, more weather affected days, more days off due to trucks getting diverted to our other chippers I finally I had enough. Now I've changed careers and am really happy again.
You definitely have been eating very efficiently
