      In truth the Scotch Egg has nothing to do with the Scottish:
      London department store Fortnum & Mason claims to have invented Scotch eggs in 1738, as a traveller's snack, but based this on archival material since lost. Fortnum & Mason certainly popularised Scotch eggs, including the foodstuff as part of various hampers. It is generally believed that Scotch eggs in turn derived from food the British encountered in the Raj, including a Mughlai dish called nargisi kofta ("Narcissus meatballs").

      @amaslam111 2 года назад +3

      It's because of the concept of hot and cold foods, hot foods tend to be hearty and have garlic, ginger and spices to warm you up in Winter. Cold foods are eaten in summer to
      cool you down, like yoghurt with light spices or vegie foods that are easier on the stomach and don't sit like a lump.

      Living in northern Europe I definitely think in seasons for food too, I think most people up here do. Cold winters are the time for hot soups, stews, red meat and vegetables like cabbages and the like. In the summer the meals get smaller and meats like chicken and sea food are more common and paired with lighter salads and less dense breads.
      In the past we would do it for seasonal availability, but these days almost everything is available year round and it is done because it just feels better to eat heavy warm meals in winter and light and colder meals in summer.

    Seeing those two balls on the plate reminds me of my favorite joke. Ok since you insist:
    A couple goes to spain for a vacation and goes to a recommended restaurant for it's specialty. The husband tells the waiter to bring the house specialty which the waiter does. On a plate surrounded by vegetables are two large "meatballs". The couple look a bit perplexed but the waiter tells them to try it, which they do and love it. When asked what the dish is the waiter explains that bullfighting is a national pastime and after each fight the testicles are removed and prepared in a delicious dish. The couple is taken back at first but love the dish so much they come back on their last nite in Spain and order it again. The waiter obliges and brings out the plate but this time in the middle of the vegetables are two olive sized spheres. The husband tells the waiter, "we ordered the house specialty, what's this?" to which the waiter replied; "Senor, it is the house specialty, but sometimes...the Bull wins!"

    "Americans are so fit"
    Unfortunately we have too much foods available to us that most Americans are unhealthy from eating too much high fat, high sugar, and high calorie food everyday. Such foods and ingredients are good in moderation.

    • @ladiuneeq9789
      @ladiuneeq9789 2 года назад +3

      Not "most" Americans! Hi fat, low carb is the correct diet. No one is unfit from eating healthy fat. They are unfit from excessive carb intake and alcohol.

    • @JimBob1937
      @JimBob1937 2 года назад +1

      @@ladiuneeq9789 , most Americans eat lots of the unhealthy fats. The saturated and trans (natural and added). High good fats (polyunsaturated, monounsaturated) are usually fine, though can still lead to issues if in excess. And yes, most Americans. > 60% of Americans are overweight or obese. Cardiovascular disease is nearly 50% in some form or another in the population (20+ years old).
      Also, carbs are not inherently bad for you, you should just eat the right carbs. Complex carbs breakdown slower than simple and refined carbs. Making carbs the enemy for those fad diets was a mistake. Your body literally runs on carbs, as fats and protein (not used for direct amino acid uses), are converted to glucose internally in your body. ATP (energy chemical for your cells) has carbs as part of it's chain of production.
      I repeat, it is all about moderation.

I work out like crazy doing walking/running/elliptical/punching bag/rower machine/pull ups/chin ups/pull ups/push ups/jumping/sit ups...etc. Yet, I had a high amount of triglycerides in my blood. Mostly came down to me eating too much cheese and coconut curry (I'd eat it 2 days a week every week) both of which contain a lot of saturated fats. Not all fats are equal, and carbs were not the primary culprit. Further I never smoke or drink (hate the taste of alcohol).

    • @ladiuneeq9789
      @ladiuneeq9789 2 года назад

      @@JimBob1937 Saturated fats are not unhealthy fats. You've been lied to! The reason your body runs on carbs is because that it the only thing it has to burn energy due to excessive carb intake. This is what causes obesity and other illnesses like liver disease and kidney disease. The body needs fat for energy. Eating more fats and fewer carbs will not cause any of the diseases you mentioned above. Other than fiber, can you name another "healthy" carb that we "need"?

Any recommendations on reatraunts (mainly) and bars in London to check out would be massively appreciated, preferably no where near Brixton yeah - safe.
