Yeah, the instant I saw his handle I knew it would be a problem.
It looked very large and uncomfortable, so I thought so too, but I didn't realize he didn't have the proper pommel.
Yeah same, the moment he's fixing it to the blade, a already knew it would be not nice for his blade
The moment I saw him forging a damascus I knew he was going to be in trouble
I just thought it’d be a safety issue considering the smooth handle
Larry: "if youre gonna do it, do it right or not at all"
*messed up the damascus, messed up the threaded bolt, didnt add the pommel.*
I think we can all agree that _yikes_
Maximum Level *Oof*
May be it was recorded after he fukked up ...
Anyone who has to tell you they are a perfectionist probably isn't one, or is only one for _other people's_ work.
Damascus is hard to do. Not adding the pommel well that is just being stupid.
Larry's sword is how a person who miss leg day look like
So the word is "It Will Keel"?
Excalibur anyone?
At least another boar didn't get cut up.
which means someone else cuts it up 'cause that meat is donated to a wildlife reserve as animal feed.
Where could i whatch the full series?

"Do it right or not at all."
Or
"Don't do anything right at all." You decide.

Even I know Medieval Swords don't have a pommel like that.

Hey man we share the last name but most likely come from different origins
Congratulations bro!!,
Congrats, man. Good work!
Congrats buddy, well done!
This Larry knows his stuff but made the sword “his” way rather than what judges asked of him.
If there's one thing I've learned from these competitions, it's to not run your mouth. Forging is a complex art that even masters can mess up, due to some uncontrollable variables. You really want to say something like that, knowing full well something can so easily go wrong?
this time it was hardly an uncontrollable factor though haha
Quite a shame Cordale's blade was barely tested, it looked so promissing!
That kid had more style and swag than I will ever have
44 years old?!?! lol Has "Larry" been drinking a half gallon of Whiskey and smoking three packs of cigarettes a day his whole adult life? He looks at LEAST 54 years old! 🤣
Edit; He may claim to value; "Doing something the right way or not doing it at all." but he apparently lacks the ability to pay sufficient attention to instruction in order to properly do that in the first place!
All that talk about, "attention to detail," was clearly just talk. It turns out.
@Hubert Harmon Is it drugs?
@Hubert Harmon Drugs.
Haha nice conversation. 👍🤣
@@twstf8905 lol
This is odd. I'm 39 and he looks like he could be amongst people closer to my dad's age than anyone in my age group. It really is startling. I would've easily believed he was in his 60s
7:47 ouch... I hate seeing contestants losing simply because of minor/major detail on the item and not because of poor craftsmanship...
Then again, missing out detail *is* poor craftsmanship
Don´t they write them those parameters on piece of paper so they know what the parameter are?
It just doesn’t feel the same without Wil Willis :(
yeah I do too but things happen and he has family to take care of now and i can understand why he left at the time he did.
Why did he leave exactly
@@josephmaldonado58 He had to take care of his family as he had another kid with his wife.
The judges: “You guys will recreate an iconic weapon from the history - Medieval Sword”
You: “Obviously I’ve made an medieval sword with a normal knife’s handle and a tiny square pommel”
Right? That handle is OK for the kitchen, but I wouldn't use a handle like that for anything I had to fight with if I had any other option.
Well, "perfectionist" Larry done perfectly awful handle
Lmao he sure went with the "wow factor"
Imagine if these Forgers had to make fantasy weapons from videogames, what kind of parameter fails would they be?
"Sorry this Soul Edge did not steal a soul or turn Doug malfested I'll have to ask you to leave the forge"
Baffles me when people bring forth weapons expecting them to be winners when they dont even follow the parameters
This is like getting a win in FortNite because someone dies in the storm. .🤣
I know right. I wanted to what my work was capable of as well.
Tbh I was sure of the winner the moment I saw the pummel...or actually lack of it...too bad...
5:10 well guys the mystery had been solved 🤟😂
Definitely added the "wow factor" like the wow, you beat yourself outa 10 grand...
the "medival sword of mystery" has a lot in common with early viking swords. Are we sure this isn't just a vikings attempt at re-creating an early medieval sword?
NOPE! No one knows for sure who forged it or why it was in the river. If it had in fact been wielded by a Norseman during a Viking raid that could explain why it was in the river though.
@@marhawkman303 Agreed. That is not Futhark, ( Viking runs ) The River Witham sword was forged in Germany, which was then the blade-making center of Europe, according to the British Museum. And pre-Christian Germanic tribesman inscribed runes onto their swords, axes and armor to "endow the items with magical powers," the Fyris Swords Project researchers wrote in a paper published in the journal Waffen- und Kostümkunde (Weaponry and Costumes) in 2009.
@@magne-johannilsen5621 Weh, great point. Definitely not Futhark. doesn't narrow it down much, but does narrow it down.
Texans know how to make weapons. I'll give them that.
Haha I saw this yesterday. How many times do you have to watch this show before you attend it to know what to do and not to: Immediately I knew the non-existent disc on the handle was going to be automatically disqualified.
Never new aliens could make swords
???
I get that decision, I've seen this on FiF b4.
The message on this sword is like a blessing to the Xtian god & or saint given there are a number of blades w/ similar inscriptions. After all if you were a medieval knight you'd want to do all that is possible to keep you safe including calling upon the divine powers, much like fighters & soldiers still do to this day.
Plot twist! The create of the "unknown mystery language" was just really bad at spelling and suffered from dyslexia.
No excuse for forgetting to put disc pummel on sword when it was 1 of the things that was asked
Medieval sword of mystery? Sounds like Excalibur to me.
No way that old guy was 44 years old!! Me and my wife laughed the whole episode!!
Forged in Fire: wood weapon of mystery JONH WEAK PEN PENCIL!
so many years of experience, and he still manages to forget to add a pommel. HOW?
experience at making kitchen knives maybe? 'cause that handle would work on most knives.
Why not just call this thing the River Whitham Sword?
was gonna make fun of the "Mr perfectionist" but it is literally only me who hasnt done it yet so wont even bother.
"GIT GUD SCRUB"
thats whats written on the sword
"GG EZI WIN"
idk why hut I feel like the sword of mystery is probably the real life version of the excalibur
A guy with 2 years part time experience beat an old dog.
So that's what those pommels are for! Well, it was obvious for your counterbalance in the weight of a swing. But, who would've thought that it's also "not for show"? Also, it was pretty ironic that he didn't get to see his sword swung. He could've won, if not for the error of the pommel.
Yeah, if you look at them most swords either have some kind of shaping to the hilt to help with retaining the blade, or some kind of pommel that achieves the same thing.
Wow. It's exactly like when Dumb and Dumber said, "Danny kinda forgot about the iron fleet".
Let's hope season 7 and 8 get deleted and redone by some different people once georgie releases some more books
Doug really is good. He beat the carcass and beat the historians in deciphering that code 😅

Anybody else want to see Larry’s blade perform? Let him make a dish shaped pommel real quick I want to see if the blade turned out good or not.
Poor Larry couldn't even do the first challenge😔
You just can´t finish someone rightly without a pommel.
Special version of "It will keal" 10 thumbs-up
Failed to meet parameters resulting no 2nd "It will keal" 100 thumbs-down
It is a mystery why Larry didn't replicate the sword correctly.
I was genuinely perplexed at Larry's final sword. Props for winning against all the others and getting to finals. I even liked his reworked "Plan B" creation but that handle..... I can't get over what might have inspired that handle. Wider at the top than the bottom? And yet it was so carefully crafted I cant convince myself it was an accident. As a work of skill, its wonderful. As a sword its baffling to me.
Good thing Doug noticed that pommel. Seems the team hadn't even seen it until then.
Imagine if the first competitor failed the "KEEEEALLLL" test on its first strike and the other competitor's sword failed to meet the standard to test. Will the first one win?
I believe they hand back the swords and tell both contestants that the last man standing between the two of them wins
Someone explain why the cowboy wore a mask in his own backyard but not to the competition😂
I didn't want to period
This was the fastest episode ever
There was another 1-2 like this where they didn't test the sword either.
"I finnaly figure it out,it will keel"
If it was found in england in the 18th century it may have been a viking Sword, thats been lost in the first viking raids in england
I get that some people wouldn't understand the mechanical importance of a pommel, but even as a knife maker, Wouldn't it make logical sense to make the bottom of the handle wider than the rest to make sure it doesn't fly out of your hand? Genuinely confused at his thought process.
um sure 🤔🤔 about whats weitten on the sword i just deciphered it " it will keel " ... 😂😂😂😂
long time ago someone etched random letters on his sword and it is now called the sword of mystery
5:10 Doug translates the sword inscription
2:52 Is it me or does Cordale looks and sounds like a younger Nicholas Cage
(Edit: right time)
I don't know if I should be offended or not
when i saw how big the grip on the pommel is, I was questioning whether he actually knows what he meant when he said..
*"either you do it right or go home"*
Maybe the writing on the blade isn’t a code? Maybe the blade Smith was illiterate?
Atleast the inscription got translated !! To perfection ...
“Alright, fall back in” your military is definitely showing
I didn’t even catch that. Guess Army got me tuned up to just go right away lol.
I saw that easily like dudes handle is so dumb . Just plain laziness.common sense.
Broad-Sword is incorrect, it’s one handed sword of an arming sword.
How do they continue to get this wrong? They have had actual broad-swords on the show, I do not understand how they can't tell the difference.
@@colinrobertson7580 broad-swords aren’t actual things. It’d be a arming swords
@@CosmicHandOfDoom broad sword are 100% a thing, what are you talking about? Look up a basket hilted broad sword.
@@colinrobertson7580 that’s a form of sabre, not broad sword.
@@CosmicHandOfDoom so the basket hilted broadsword is a sabre despite having two edges absolutely no curve, a double fuller and a spear point all because of what? Because you think everything with a complex hilt is a Sabre? You don't know the first thing about sword typology. Broad swords are not sabres, there are in fact most similar to arming swords but with key differences in design, use and period. Even if a broadsword was a sabre, (which it is not) that wouldn't mean it wasn't a broadsword because sabre is a classification of sword that contains many more specific types of swords. We can agree that the dnd level of weapon analysis is incorrect, but that seems to be the extent of your sword knowledge.
