My knee pain disappeared after doing the exercises just 4 times ! I have never come across an exercise that is so effective ! Thank you Will ! Cheers Eddie
Good morning, Will; I love watching your PT videos, they inspire me. I'm 70 and the knee, gluts , thighs and leg PT exercises speak to me. I walk 1 mile (20 minutes) 4x weekly and I attend balance and stretching classes a couple times a week. I'm just saying "thank you" for your clear instructions , helps me understand why it hurts and what to do. Thank You
I was skeptical because I actually need a knee replacement and will have the surgery fairly soon. In the meantime, I’ve been struggling with stairs. So, I tried this and it seems to work for me. I’m amazed because I thought turning my feet outward would cause instability and pain. Thank you!
Thank you for the tips! Me and my husband are over 60 and we have to go up and down two flights of stairs various times a day. Let's hope they will help us to avoid serious damage!
Appreciated the helpful and very useful video Will! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, your experience and for taking the time to educate and help us make healthier choices!👋❤
I vote for "How to stop stairs!" Hubby suggested I stop using the hand rail as I pull myself and the wet laundry to outdoors, he fears he's run out of room to re-bolt it in! 🙆 No pain just laboured motions!
Really amazing and very informative video. I watch your videos regularly and have been applying your methods and boy it sure helps. I’m sixty six years old and have been getting slight pain in my left knee after having fallen in the garden last summer. Thank god I fell on grass. Having been using your exercises which are really helping me. Warm greetings from Canada
I have pain in my inner aspect of the right knee after kneeling at church. Going up steps is worst then going down. Bending it is painful too. What should i do? Thank you if can advice. I found most of your advices are very realistic and useful too. Thank you so much.
I have pain kin both knees on climbing stairs. Dr diagnosed osteoarthritis - not surprising as I have it in my back, hands and one foot anyway. What I've never had is advice on dealing with it. This one tip of turning my foot to fit on my rather narrow stairs - and I have long feet - has made such a difference. Thank you. I'm working through your videos for other ideas too.
All that plus 2 more tips I've learned elsewhere: 1- Whether walking or using stairs, keep your knee over your toes, not angled to one side or the other. (stopped my pain completely) 2- Going downstairs I do a duck walk, heel first with toes slightly angled outward. And I leave just the tip of my toes beyond the step so it won't catch on the rug and cause a fall.
Great videos!!! Keep up the good work! I would love to see some more videos on foot exercises. Also, I would love to see things to avoid or the best exercises when lifting weights if you have lower back problems. Thanks!
Thank you for your video and advice. I followed your suggestions and my left knee pain in going up stairs has diminished by at least 50%. Much appreciated . Question: I run on my treadmill 3 x a week at about 3.5 mph. Is this helping or hurting my knee? Thanks
Good vid,I'm 64 and my knees have been hurting on the stairs now for about six months. The left one is the worst even when I'm walking it gives way which is annoying. The Dr seems to think it's arthritis.I like will's tips that I've just seen especially putting my whole foot on the tread.I'm going to try that today.i'll let you know how I get on.Happy walking everyone😂🇬🇧
Thank you for the practical information on knee pain and stairs. We live in a 3-story house and I have found it good exercise climbing up and down 5-10 times a day, but lately my right knee has started to ache. I will take your advice on foot positioning during ascent and descent. Thanks again.
I sometimes think you must be psychic, indeed my knees are giving me grief on stairs! Thank you for another really useful video, I have already been to try these tips.
Thank you so much for bringing this information to us. I use a lot of your exercises The latest demonstration of walking up and down the stairs has helped do much. There has been no one else like you.
Thank you for your informative videos and for sharing exercises that are easy to incorporate throughout the day whilst wearing ordinary every day clothing and without the need for fancy equipment.I hope everyone who watches your videos will purchase your book as a thank you for all the hours you put into these videos. I received my copy this week and am enjoying reading it and learning more about the body, its structure, how it moves and best of all I hear Will's voice in my head reading it to me 😊 Thanks Will regards Andrea from Adelaide in South Australia.
My teenage son was being a brat and said "At least I don't go up and down the stairs like an animal" I've stopped doing that. I asked my bud if she did that, she said yes, she's now been diagnosed with pre-osteoporosis. I'd noticed her back shoulders' hump for a few yrs now, she drinks 3 cokes a day and her stomach might be pulling some bone calcium away to help neutralize her stomach's lining!
I told my ortho my inside knee was hurting after my femur break, he didnt even check if I could walk up or down stairs without pain, or even watch how I was walking...this is a lot more informative
Strengthening all the gluteus muscles and lower back muscles have helped. Three months of targeted fitness exercises with a kinesiologist helped me understand the chain of anatomical movements.
Interesting thanks, but I was distracted by the f&m hamper under the stairs, if it’s Fortunum and Mason (up market Uk London store) then could have been full of luxury goodies.. was waiting for a comment and if this does not crack open a bottle of Bollinger to drown your sorrows ‘ 😂
How about walking up steps without a rail? Many steps leading to hotels, government offices etc do not have rails. For us senior folk - a rail is a welcome aid as we navigate steps or stairs….any tips regarding this because balance is not always perfect to “conquer” steps/ stairs without a handrail.
Why us it easier to go downstairs putting the same foot forward first on each step, ( left, left, or right, right) but harder to alternate (left, right, left, right) ? I can't figure out if it's a knee problem, hip problem or lower back problem. I'm willing to work this out. But I can't figure out where the problem originates. It's painful holding my weight with the knee bent.
This didn't help 1) my foot is too big to fit on a step 2) turning my foot outward makes the pain worse and click more (so does inward) 3) intentionally activating the glutes by moving the leg before doesn't make a difference, I am already activating my glutes
🙋🏾♀️ hi I’m going to try this I recently was in a car accident in a car on my way to work here in New York 5 AM in the morning it’s raining dark I was crossing one of the four lane streets we had it’s raining it’s pitch black Elsa I have all black on I looked in front of me I hit the light but this streets have one of those four lane highways and then it has a little extra little small cattle corn, a neighborhood street that you drive out of an emerge into the 4 White Ln. as I was crossing the street I looked on the side of me in back of me, no car was call me as I proceeded to walk a car speeding sideswipe hit me from the left knocked me in the middle of the street. Long story short I had no broken bones. No fractures just soreness in my body waist down my left side because that’s the Siad” I got hit on my left side. This happened11/22/24 To day Monday11/25/24 /7:25 Am . so the pain now is removed from my body it just went to my left knee it was bad but it’s getting better I’ve been walking on the lake despite the pain I’ve been stretching I can walk I can stand no problem but I tried going down the stairs a couple of days ago I couldn’t when the accident first happened I had to crawl up the stairs cause I live on the second floor apartment. I said I got a message to the stairs. I gotta get back to work so I walked out. No problem now just a little bit of hoodie but not like before but walking up. It’s hard but I did some exercise. I remember in physical therapy 2013 for the stairs so I can tell my knee is healing like the pain is slowly leaving, but going up the stairs still was kind of hot. It wasn’t as bad as the first time but I’m gonna try your exercise and I’m going to let you know my results. Thank you.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Timely info as knee is not happy on the stairs and in general need to do some remediation exercises. As ever, thank you Will.
I hope they prove beneficial for your knee!

Thank you for this no-nonsense video. I don't have pain going up the stairs but there is a lot of crackling noises. I'm assuming the pain will follow.
Really enjoy your work!
Thank you!
Your exercise is very helpful for seniors thanks but my toes are too weak so please send me a toes exercise or a play
Thank you, at last someone has shown me how to tackle my stairs! It works!

Great tips for going upstairs. I'm going to give using my stairlift now if I can.😅

I like your videos. This one was very hard to hear. Please turn up the volume.
How many times go up and down the stairs
My knee pain is rear outer behind knee, usually stepping up stairs… you only mentioned kneecap cap.

I feel no pain when I turn my knee inward instead of
Me, I go up on my knee and pray!
Who is here for that accent ? Oh and sore knees 😂
My knee goes the other way when I walk
but this is just a cheat to avoid the pain but it will not cure the problem.
