Hello, kindly explain to us how is the Maytag MAT12PSLWW go into the spins cycle? If the washer does not spins what could cause the problem? We enjoyed your video on youtube. it is very experience learning. Thank you for your time.
Thanks for the great video. I have a real old washer like this only with the old style helical transmission. It spins but when in agitation the belt squeals and burns. If I pull tension on the pulley the motor stops. I have the transmission out and it turns, but it seems to have a lot of drag, like heavy grease, not oil. There's no evidence of transmission oil loss. The brake area is clean and the lip seal cap just has maybe a third full of grease. I have several of these for my apartments and they seem simple and solid built. - worth learning to fix as long as I can get parts. How freely should the agitation gears turn? I can spin with one finger on the pulley for spin but need to grab with my whole hand to run the gears so the agitator goes back and forth.
It sounds like something is bad inside of the transmission I don,t have a video on the transmission because I didn't use to repair the transmissions . Here is a link that maybe could help you it it in Spanish and don't explain much but you could see the internal parts of the transmission working I hope it help you. ruclips.net/video/v_E0g1N9Afs/видео.html angel
Thanks for the reply. Your videos have been very helpful to me. Thanks again, However, in 5:19 the brake unit is missing and not attached to the lower transmission shaft!! in 10:25 the brake unit appears again.
The brake unit is never attached to the transmission, the transmission bottom shaft just go thru the brake unit That is why you see me remove the transmission without the brake unit.
Awesome video. Easy to follow and you didn't miss a thing. You even have special graphics to explain detailed points.
What an amazing service to mankind. YOU are the man! THANK YOU!!!

I'm trying to keep mine going but the outer tub is completely unavailable. I repaired mine but I don't know how long it has left.

what symptoms dictate a transmission replacement?
Shouldn't you remove the brake unit before removing the tub?
The Brake Unit only needs to be removed when you want to replace it or replace the radial bearing

Thank you. I get it. The brake has large threads, and the splines of the transmission go in the center thus attaching to the brake.
You sure got it my friend
