  • All quotes / dialogue of Agent 47 from Hitman: Codename 47 to Hitman: Blood Money, including Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Hitman: Contracts, mainly for use in soundboards and prank calls. David Bateson is lending his voice for the notoriously deadly assassin character ever since 2000. It's what you call a trademark of a highly successful video game franchise, thanks to Danish developer IO Interactive. Damn how I adore this series. A shame Jesper Kyd was never approached for Absolution.

    11:16 - 12:00 According to me comprise the best quotes of 47 till date. He basically describes himself and his life in a nutshell.
    47 very rarely spends his time on self-reflection being the cold blooded assassin and contract killer he is. This was one of the rare moments in the entire gaming series when he self reflects.

    • @VergilHiltsLT
      @VergilHiltsLT  3 года назад +21

      Yes, this was a major jump in his character development. The ending is powerful because he essentially frees himself at this point, and no longer has doubts or ties to the past. He decides to live free and see things for himself. His path is that of solitude.

    I haven’t played these games, only WoA trilogy. But 47 seemed to be more talkative in the previous games, which makes him more human and it adds depth to his characters than seeming like a robot imo, it gives us an insight of his thoughts. Wish they kept this in the new trilogy.

    • @VergilHiltsLT
      @VergilHiltsLT  2 года назад +7

      Exactly, it also gave more incentive to play the game and find out more about 47's character. The trilogy revolves much more around the targets than 47 himself, and his dialogue consists only of stuff related to his mission. There is no higher goal behind the trilogy, really, only assassinating the targets and getting out. No iconic characters like Agent Smith or Lei Ling, either. Sad.

    If you think about it though. Since his birth, he has never seen the world as anything else but targets. He had genetic traits that are being taken advantage of by the ICA. The more he sees the world the more he may wonder about his existence. Is he to feel special or exploited. He is superhuman but still human. We see him crack a smile at the end of hitman 3 as if the weight of the world had lifted for a brief second.
    High profile target after target has turned him into a legend but I wonder if he sees the world and says, I need a normal life. Or has he accepted what he always was bred to be. I say this because at the end of hitman 2 he does say he won't find peace in the normal life and hangs the crucifix. He tried tho.
    He isn't completely emotionless but does well to not get carried away with it. Like every other assassin, it's another day at the job.

    • @VergilHiltsLT
      @VergilHiltsLT  2 года назад +5

      Yup, 47 was raised into a contract killer. You can't undo that, the past will never let go. That's why he chooses to embrace it (sort of), just see things for himself rather than getting sidetracked by those that will never understand him. And possibly unintentionally lead them to trouble, like he did with Vittorio.

      True, that's only natural though since IO really grew after Hitman 2. That was their most successful game right until Blood Money.
      No Hitman game has surpassed the first four so far, IMO. And I really miss Jesper Kyd's amazing scores in the new Hitman. Don't even play them.

    • @abominableyeti5639
      @abominableyeti5639 3 года назад +1

      @@VergilHiltsLT Let's agree to disagree. IMO I think the games before Blood Money (the first game that helped me truly understand what the franchise was about), were Products of their time, ambitious as heck but limited by their hardware literally defining the "eurojank" genre. I tried contracts and it's too janky for me. Blood money is an amazing game that laid the framework for the modern titles which I think are amazing.

    • @VergilHiltsLT
      @VergilHiltsLT  3 года назад +12

      @@abominableyeti5639 Well, from a technical standpoint perhaps, but you're only looking at the gameplay aspect. Aesthetically, nothing can beat the first four games. The new Hitman games simply don't capture that same unique vibe anymore. This is not nostalgia speaking, I'm talking interesting level design. In new Hitman games, everything is so realistically bland that I can't play the game for more than an hour. It's just a killing simulator in super realistic environments, with realistic layouts.
      The first four games had very creative levels with multiple extra touches and easter eggs to them, and also the stories felt a lot more personal. The new Hitman's story is... well, let's just say the episodic nature didn't exactly bode well with that. Until they dropped it in Hitman 2.
      And also the lack of Jesper Kyd in the new Hitman games is unforgivable. I have a tendency to fall asleep in the new games because of their stale music score, and boring uninspired villains. The villains are simple people with no ability to retaliate. The first four games usually had targets act as boss battles of sort, that is if you weren't perfectly stealthy. But in some instances, you were forced to fight targets, like Mark Parchezzi III in Blood Money. Again, new games don't have that.
      I could name multiple other reasons but I can assure you it's not just nostalgia speaking. The first four games are simply more interesting in what they did back then, than what Hitman is doing now with all the technology we've grown so accustomed to. Bigger maps =/= better game, Hitman has proved this many times with smaller maps in Blood Money, yet they had so much stuff in there. In other words, better tech doesn't necessarily relate to better gameplay, since it's only used to render bigger levels and more NPCs. But that's it.
      Gameplay mechanics are not tied to tech fundamentally, as they're primarily ideas, and the game engine should have no issue executing these mechanics either way.
      Certain old games like DMC3 (2005) have better gameplay mechanics than some modern titles.

    Voice acting from Silent Assassin all the way to Absolution was brilliant. I don't know what happened to Bateson in the new trilogy, but he fumbles nad mumbles pretty much every line.

    • @VergilHiltsLT
      @VergilHiltsLT  2 месяца назад +1

      Definitely sounds like he's not into it anymore. Honestly, I don't think the new IO cares that much either. They wanted a different voice actor for Absolution after all, we only have him because of the fans.
      I also don't like how the new trilogy is missing in-game cutscenes when you're engaging in a conversation, just like other AAA titles. The devs just don't bother setting up cutscenes, interesting camera angles, etc. I'm not engaged in the conversation nor does it seem important when I can do whatever I want mid-dialogue. That's how a character loses his standing in the franchise. Strong characters are given their little moments to shine, separate screen time.
