Look at the game Stormworks. It had great potential and grew a lot. It was loved by it’s community and was getting regular updates. But something went wrong, the devs couldn’t keep up with the communitys desires and backlash. The game got buggy and a lot of glitches came. The community is revolting and the game is getting a lot of hate. Right now it’s in shambles. I want the beamng to keep calm, don’t listen too much to the community, and keep doing good things for the game.

For me, it's turned into the dream movie studio where I can bring any crazy idea to life. I think official multiplayer support would do wonders in dragging the game back in the direction it was intended. My brother and I would love to mess around on that and play “realistically” we used to do that in gta but it just isn’t the same as the configure options and realism of beamng. Get out and walk around? Yep. Fly an airplane? Boats? Complete car customization? Making movies? Oh built-in map creation? @ryanknol3876 11 месяцев назад +3

Also, I think the reason there are so many (older) American cars is because that’s what the physics engine was “good at” at that time:
      - Early BeamNG’s tire/suspension phycics where a lot worse as they are now, with tires skidding a lot easier, and suspension bouncing/shaking a lot more.
      - Real-life European cars, especially newer ones, tend to handle very well; so attempting to simulate one using a physics engine that struggles with doing… exactly that… means you’ll end up with a soft, bouncy, bad-handling car in-game instead of the well-handling car it’s supposed to be.
      - On the other hand, older American cars *do already* have bad handling and soft, bouncy suspension in real life, so accurately simulating those using that same physics engine is a piece of cake.
Of course, the current version of BeamNG has had a lot of physics improvements and no longer struggles with that, but of course there are still a large amount of classic American cars in game since those where already added in the past.
*edit:* I’m pretty sure one of the BeamNG developers even said something to this effect in a forum post somewhere

    Great video, good points 💪
I'm playing this game since 2014 and I've never got bored. I even play it in my free time, none of the games gives me enough of entertainment like BeamNG Drive.
For the paid mods, the ones from LucasBE, etc, are worth the money, but the real car mods.. it's mostly scam, as you said.
Personally, I see this game as the Sandbox. I do all stuff in this game.
Testing physics, driving, racing, enjoying the nature, tuning cars, building configs, just what ever is fun for me at the time 😃
But yes.. I'm known for Emergency Stories and car crashes.
So mostly I did in the game are crashes, then the stories, where I use a lot the potential of game's wolrd editor features and then the beauty of the game.
I did some mistakes.. not bringing the new ideas to show more of this game, which I believe I should do in the near future with new series.
I just wanted to write this here as an answer to some of the points you said + my POV, as I'm here with 5700 hours of play time and many years of playing 😅❤
Keep up the good work man!

0:50 that always bugged the hell out of me when people would say that, and bugs the heck out of me when thats pretty much all the content you find on RUclips about BeamNG (like 80% of the BeamNG videos are kids crashing cars). BeamNG is far far more, it has a lot to offer, a lot of it just hasn't been realized yet or hasn't materialized yet (materialized as in not been developed or put into the game yet, like there's a bit that can be improved with the tire physics and added to the tire physics).
I dont buy mods, if a mod cost money i just dont use it, i stick to the free mods you can download in the game.
I'm a big fan of off-roading like mudding , hill climbing, and rock crawling (id love to see deformable ground like you see in spintires/mudrunner/snowrunner, but i highly doubt well see that due to how demanding it is and how demanding BeamNG already is) just as much as track racing and other things involving vehicles.
And yes, they need to update the BeamNG steam page, as well as offer an updated demo as the demo they offer just doesn't show off the progress that they have made to the game.
The BeamNG content I'd love to see is pro racers getting a stab at BeamNG, like Robbie Gordon or his son racing the Baja and or trophy trucks in the desert map that was released, or "enter drivers name here" getting a few laps in on a track (yes I know there Jimmy Broadbent, but there needs to be far far more of that what he did with BeamNG).

  • @apgde
    @apgde 11 месяцев назад +3

Honestly, I have a strong hunch that in just a few years, BeamNG will have evolved beyond recognition. Consider the possibilities: vastly improved graphics, a fully fleshed-out career mode, an abundance of additional content, perhaps even an official multiplayer feature, and so much more. If you ponder it, BeamNG is already a virtual haven for vehicle enthusiasts, offering an expansive range of car-related experiences, and with mods, it can even accommodate boats and planes. Looking ahead, it's entirely conceivable that BeamNG may introduce official support for boats and planes. The addition of a completed career mode will not only enhance the game but also draw in a whole new audience. Moreover, if prominent BeamNG RUclipsrs like yourself, Neilogical, Camodo, Simulator Adventures, me (yay I included myself), and others (Neil and Camodo are already quite popular), continue to gain traction, it could lead to a broader audience understanding that BeamNG is far more than just a crash simulator; it's a dynamic world of vehicular exploration and enjoyment.

Something I've seen that's completely overlooked by the "Im tired of offroad content" crowd, is all of the under the hood stuff the devs released with those updates. A major example of this is the shock absorber simulation is now fluid dynamics based. Which is huge for creating a realistic handling suspension. They also did a lot for contact patch traction values. Since this is a dynamic soft soft body physics engine at its core, getting realistic traction and handling offroad will consequently make the on-road content that much closer to reality. There were many more under the hood improvements that seemed to go largely ignored under the screeching about offroad content, which I fully enjoy.

Honestly, this was almost the fate of the game for me. "That quirky crashing simulator."
I played it back in the days of the potato tire model, and once I got tired of smashing cars into things, I quit and forgot I owned it.
I actually forget what reintroduced me to it. I want to say it was Jimmy Broadbent. From there, it was a case of reinstalling the game, trying it out again with the new tire model, and ... well....
I rolled over 800 play hours this weekend.
I want to see more larger race track maps. Right now you can download real life tracks via modding, but that has an intrinsically lower appeal than those baked in. There's also the problem of mods going out of date - my Spa mod broke in spectacular fashion with v0.30, with the tight hairpin now having large swaths of white blocks in the middle of the road.
I've lost count of how many laps I've done at Hirochi Raceway. I've also done a few at WCUSA, and Automation Test Course has been a welcome challenge.
But that can only sate my appetite for hotlapping or racing for a little while.
I get the limitations on licensing to try to use real life tracks in official release, and inventing original courses is quite challenging for the devs. Especially to the ultra-high standards they hold all official content to.
Just saying, I'd like to see them put some in.

I think BeamNG should really try looking into adding licensed cars and tracks once the game is near completion (with car manufacturers who are more willing to let their cars get banged up). I understand that licensed content can complicate matters, but if BeamNG were to ever be taken seriously by the racing sim community it needs to have accurate real cars and tracks. Considering how quickly the racing sim industry is expanding recently, it would make sense to attract this crowd so that BeamNG isn't viewed as a "toy" when compared to other sims.

Once we realized we should've described it as "another quality option" due to how good it is we started selling the upgraded versions (high profit margin) and almost never get an order for the base model. Absolutely, for me, this game transcends the typical car damage physics found in other games. It stands out as the paramount driving simulation experience, surpassing renowned titles like Assetto Corsa, GT7, and Forza Horizon 5. What sets this game apart is not only its realism but also the inclusion of a compelling career mode that immerses players in a lifelike racing environment.
Every vehicle, whether it's part of the original game or a mod, contributes to the game's overall intrigue. As a dedicated car enthusiast, I find the depth and variety of cars immensely captivating. It's disheartening when people reduce the game to mere accident simulation; it offers so much more.
I envision this game evolving into a vibrant community akin to other racing games. Its myriad advantages, ranging from street races and drag battles to time attacks and off-road adventures, make it a comprehensive racing experience. To me, this game epitomizes a superb simulation driving game that encompasses all facets of racing.
I remain optimistic that the developers will continue to enhance the game, making it even more outstanding. It's my hope that the community around this game will flourish, matching the camaraderie found in other racing game communities. Picture this: effortlessly drifting through city streets, towing your car to a track race, all while experiencing the same thrill as playing a truck simulator. It seamlessly combines the excitement of off-road adventures with the intensity of competitive racing, delivering a truly enjoyable driving experience.

Also I love that they are focusing on Offroad Simulation since we don't really have any Simulator that can do it all so well, So I want to see the rally and crawling community to use this game too. (just saw the part that where you talk about people criticizing the developers on focusing too much on offroad, but I think it is very important, and I do like offroading a lot myself but I'm not being biased here, one thing people have to understand is that development takes a loooong time and their focus on offroad simulation has so far lasted a very short amount of the total development time of the game, I'm absolutely sure they will move on to other parts of the simulator in the near future, but I want them to polish the offroad simulation a bit more. this is a Simulator for all types of cars and terrains)
Regarding paid mods, I have purchased most of the good ones, in the end it's still really cheap, but yeah, obviously I'm not going to pay money for a IRL car that got badly ported and stolen from Forza or something like that, not going to pay for pirated assets. In fact I love that the modding scene in several games continues with inventing cars that are Lore Friendly, GTA 5 is a great example of this too, there are an abundance of mods that people made that may look similar to a real world car but is completely redesigned for the game. Regarding the mostly american content in the game, this has to do with this game being a successor of Rigs of Rods which was a primarily american centric truck and heavy machinery simulator but I'm sure they will move on to other markets of the world too, we already have quite a few european and also Japanese car manufacturers in the game. One thing though, I have felt the opposite with the Community of BeamNG, more and more the community is understanding what this simulator actually is, and I see a bright future in BeamNG's development.

If you're a creative person and like cars, BeamNG is the best. Period. I have spent hundreds of hours customizing "vanilla" BeamNG cars, resulting in dozens and dozens of unique designs (some look so good they resemble paid mods). And I never got tired of it. Furthermore: you can adjust how those cars handle, and in the process learn a thing or two about real-life suspension engineering concepts such as "camber", "toe-in", "rebound", and so on. Also I customized many of my cars for "escape from the cops" scenario, which is extremely rewarding and quite a challenge, because BeamNG introduced more aggressive Police AI with the recent update (try driving all the way to the airport on Italy map with cops hot on your tail).

    This are the things i hate about beamNG;
    • The UI Interface is the biggest problem, it's not noob friendly, it's all buttons under button under button with a bunch of uncategorized options, what's the point of all the sandbox options if everyone is to scared to used them, they weren't even told where to find them or how to use them.
    • The optimization, even high-end computers have difficulties running BeamNG at High+ Quality, is unacceptable.
    • Delays after a click, even with High-end computers most of the times takes 2-5 seconds to get a response to a simple click on the menu (In-game).
    • No Missions/Challanges worldwide leaderboards.
    • No official multiplayer.
    • No Real life assist systems/security features.
    • No Airbags.
    Edits:
    • No hands! I can understand not having a person inside the car (BCS of accidents) but u can still add hands no?
    • No Realistic Rain.
Disclaimer: I don't hate the game, i love it and play it a lot, it's my favorite driving game and i acknowledge that it's in alpha. Also i love off-road keep the updates coming beamNG!

Yes! The menus. They are awfully slow. I have a pretty good system that runs the game briliantlly on maximum settings, but yet the menus run like ass. I really hope the devs polish them a bit because they look and feel very rough and crude. About the real brands - BeamNG will never ever include real brands, no manufacturer would give a license to a game that lets you smash up their cars in such ways. That's why most games like Forza, GT or NFS have pretty simple damage models. Manufacturers want their cars to be seen in the best way possible, after all being in a video game is a form of advertisement. And frankly, I don't think the game needs real cars. It has a well established lore of fictional brands, well know by now by the community, with fan made models as mods. Also, working with fictional brands basically gives the devs unlimited freedom. They could make any vehicle in any configuration they like.

My biggest issue with beamng is the lack of focus. We got vulkan years ago but to this day is random chance if its gonna work properly or not, meanwhile they added VR support, career mode, graphic improvements for the old x11? renderer, Linux support, blender to beams plugin and lots of vehicles and maps.
All the features above, except the vehicles and maps, have issues to the point of often being unusable.
Why not focus on one thing and then the next one?
And they dont public any sort of roadmap which makes me think they may not even have one.
It reminds me of early valve but intead of doing half life they are doing a marvel of computer engineering with lots of fronts to tackle. (Or a good game company but with adhd)

BeamNG has always started out as an experimental physics sandbox.
It was made to test out a completely new approach to simulating physics in a video game.
I think it is completely wrong for people to judge the game for its ability to simulate specific and individual things like circuit racing or rallying.
BeamNG was never made to be a AC:competizione killer or an iracing killer. If you want a game that specializes specifically in GT racing or rally racing, there are plenty of games that do exactly that already.
The point of BeamNG is to create a platform that unifies all genres into one. In BeamNG you can do circuit racing, street racing, rally racing, leisurely driving, bus and truck routes, rock crawling and off-roading, all in one platform, seamlessly, without needing to use a different physics engine for each task. THAT is the strength of beamNG and it does an amazing job at just that.
The fact that people even compare BeamNG to traditional racing titles, when the game was never even designed to compete with those games in the first place already speaks for how impressive the physics engine already is.

I didn’t play it because back then I didn’t have a pc, but the reason I bought it to play it a week or two ago is because I wanted to get into racing games again and the scenarios looked fun, though what I really want now is official multiplayer support for races. Scenarios and time trials are fun, and I haven’t tried beammp yet, but I really want that competitive aspect to the game. Even just proper leaderboard support for the time trials and races would be good, instead we just have the stars based on what position or time you get.

The one thing that BeamNG Drive severely lacks is multiplayer support by the client. Not mods, but official support. Many more people would play if the client directly supported multiplayer. I feel if they actually implemented it that BeamNG Drive player growth would be substantial. It's a lot more fun to drive around with real people who share similar interests. The last few times I joined in BeamMP on a few servers, we were rock climbing, racing and drifting the streets of Italy, cruising the highways on Ohio and other maps, sharing tuning tips, driving strategies and so on. Without official multiplayer, BeamMP is just a great car driving simulator without anybody to share the experience with. Guaranteed if they added official multiplayer support the game's player growth would soar.

You can have so much fun with a basic install of BeamNG. This was YEARS ago, but I would edit vehicle config, goto engine and transmission and replicate an 18 speed in the T Series (but I made it full powershift which is even cooler) and would edit weight for trailers, and then edit how the turbo spools and max boost. You can even add more steps of numbers same way I added gears since there was and dont think there is an 18 speed. The possibility's are near endless, and then I always dreamed of having Automation game merge with BeamNG and FSX (Now just Flight Sim). Well, Automation can let you export engines and vehicles. It blew me away, never thought I would see that ever happen.

The biggest problem of BeamNG in my opinion is, as you said it, that most people think that the only thing you can do in this game is crashing. All these countless youtube videos and channels and especially the shorts specificially made for small children make most people believe that beamng is a game just like wreckfest or burnout or dangerous driving or whatever. So many potential new players that are very interested in cars and tuning and stuff are held back by this simple stupid trash content.
I find that terrible because for me BeamNG is a racing, driving, offroading, trucking, tuning, experimenting, photographing, and crashing simulator, not just a game for ,i dunno, driving cars off a ramp in that stupid jump arena (no offense against the map or the map maker).
I don´t even have that map, because I mostly spend my time in the game just modifying and testing cars.

I appreciate the mention in the video, but my main points weren't even about the other theory that you showed. I mainly criticized much of the complaints of the recent updates and the devs, as I felt that much of it was very fueled by emotion and not reason, as well as ignorant of how the development process works and exaggerating how bad the issue at hand is. I find it very short-sighted for people to say that off-roading is their main focus from now on, considering an update with virtually zero off-roading content was added in between and one of the most requested vehicle types was also added that had little to do with off-roading. In general, there's still a lot they added that kind of makes that conclusion very farfetched and/or exaggerated, and criticisms start to become unhelpful at this point. I'm planning on making a video myself on why many of the criticisms of the devs are terrible, as it's been an issue I've had for a while.
Also, one of those criticisms that I believe is mainly fueled by ignorance is the issue with the diversity in its car selection. I'll also be making a video on this soon. Basically, much of BeamNG's car roster was added and/or revealed during the earlier stages of the game, and the game direction was much different, centering more around driving shitboxes and entering them in demo derbies. Think Wreckfest and My Summer Car as to what it used to be envisioned. It doesn't make as much sense for them to include a bunch of modern sports cars and classic European icons, considering that when people think of shitboxes and terrible cars, old American is typically what comes to mind. A LeGran and a Barstow fit much more than a classic 911, 300SL, and Golf GTI. Cars like the Bluebuck and Wendover, which were released in recent years, where initially developed way before, and are relics of this older vision. If you look at the newer ideas not conceived 2015 and before, you'll see much greater diversity that pushes the limits much more. While it's not perfect, keep in mind that they're doing all this at the same time as everything else, and making cars is just really time-consuming.
TLDR I really don't think these issues are that bad lmao

I also think the opinion on BeamNG have shifted since it's debut as a "crashing simulator", many content creators use it for actual racing content (maybe not serious competitive sim like AC, granted) like our good pal Jimmer

I just think of the game as a in development high realism game and the developers are doing what early Minecraft did focusing are one part till it is done then moving to the next most popular thing in the list

Honestly, let the people just play for 2 hours, the sim racers know what the game is, even the the majority of people think something of the game, that doesn't matter, they don't play the game. The real players know what the game is, what is has to offer, and where its going. It will be the greatest driving sim ever created, its almost there.

I didn't know there was drama in the Beam Community. What drama, and over what?
Nearly eerything I know about Beam, is from CarMighty, Muye, Camodo & Neil, and FailRace videos.

BeamNG is a great game, and I'm looking forward to buying or building a PC to play it. Especially escaping cops with motorcycles and offroaders. I hope Beam gets a pursuit & street race system like NFSMW'05

I have always said it. The selling of the game has dropped! They need to release some DLC content to boost the game company! This is the solution to speed up things. It's been early access for quite long time !

Small developers should come up with their own ideas as well as big companies. Also modding should be moderated much more. I know that there are a lot of pages out there to download mods, but a system would be that if a mod gets a certification it can be run in the game, otherwise nope. And if you want to develop your own mod you can do it in a developement environment, like an ide for BeamNG.

all paid mods are low quality while most free mods are awsome

    I'm mixed on paid mods.
I say only make a vehicle a paid mod if there's a vanilla equivalent that one can enjoy. I.E the Segra shouldn't be a paid mod because BeamNG has no official Eurocab but if the game did then by all means go ahead and make a paid Eurocab or if you wanted to make a paid mod of a side-by-side then that's fine because people can just use the Hirochi Aurata if they don't want to pay for a mod.
Another example of mods that shouldn't be paid are the CarPal mods because they're simply modifications of existing props like the giant bollard and such.
Also, I don't mind if you have mods that are paid for early access *but* you plan to have them released to the repo for free.

I got BeamNG a couple of weeks ago for the driving after getting some random touge videos recommended by youtube, I don't watch crashing shorts so I didn't even know it was 'that game'. Overhaul I think it's a great game specially with mods and I even got my first steering wheel just to play it. I think it is very possible to show people it has a lot more than just awesome crashing

In my opinion the biggest problem is the game engine torque, if I’m not mistaken i heard that they have limitations in terms of graphics and other things. Sure they can modify it and use it as they want but for example their first engine was infact cry engine but was dismissed cause it was too expensive. If this game would have been developed on unreal engine for example we would have deformable terrain and destroyable environment already but the way the game develops is understandable and it’s too late now, they have to keep working on this engine. There are definitely features that are needed like infact deformable terrain, weather system, and interactable environment, they could. There are tons of mods also that woud fit awesome in the base games like the dummies in cars, ships, trains and planes.
This game requires a bigger development team and more funding

My main problem with beamng, I have not very powerful PC, before grapichs update it runned perfect, after game got better grapichs game started struggling and even on low grapichs it still struggles, even tho it meets minimum requirements. and I know now most of new games requires better PC but like, not everyone have NASA PC and when can play beamng on max grapichs, traffic, mods, etc.
